New to your channel and enjoying your content so much! I love your simplicity and clear explanations. Quite refreshing! I have to say, when I started watching fashion/personal style content a few years ago, I never became more confused about what I like. I never really thought too much about my style, yet always received compliments that I looked cute. I bought what I liked and felt comfortable /practical for my life. Now, after so much trial and error, wasted money, frustration, declutter, and shopping spree, I figured out that I didn’t need to declutter clothing, but rather the content I was watching. Even Pinterest. Now, having returned to my original state, I’m finding style to come to me so much more easily and clearly. Now, I mostly use Pinterest to look for ideas on how to style the pieces I already love and own. I will play dress up in my own closet and shop without someone else’s image in my mind. Thank you so much for inspiring this same kind of approach!

Brand new to your channel via this video! Hello!❤ Michaels this year, our first of all, to feel energized and refreshed after having baby number three a year ago now! I had a tough postpartum and really struggled with my energy for a long time. Through exercise and diet changes, this is already underway!… this will contribute the most to my style I believe. For a few years, I’ve been trying out different things, and finding that I just have felt so stuffy, limited, and restricted trying to go after the more tailored, “effortless” Pinterest styles. They are not effortless! And they are not relaxed. Not only did I feel like I was kind of drowning in clothes, but the styles were limiting my more active lifestyle. So I am experimenting now with more truly relaxed styles, silhouettes, and what makes me feel like I can just pop outside for a walk compared to just sitting and looking pretty, I am doing a bit of the opposite though, and that I needed to clear out my wardrobe of all the pieces that don’t feel good on me by giving them a go for a day or two to decide how I feel in them. I haven’t actually Decluttered these items, but I have removed them into bins in my garage as a quarantine. I am so excited to follow along with you!

Hi! I recommended to you the Everlane Hourglass jean to you for a previous video, which you seemed to like. I have another recommendation for you…since you mentioned the 90’s, I would highly recommend the Levi’s 90’s Ankle Jean. I recently purchased a pair for myself and they are literally my favorite pair that I wear constantly. They have even overtaken my beloved Everlane jeans! The weight of the denim is nice…not too rigid, but not too light. They are a mid rise 100% cotton jean with a button fly. Very cool 90s silhouette. They also have a full length version of the jean, but since you are petite, I would recommend the ankle length version. As far as fit, I found them true to size for me, but some have found them to run large. I would attribute this to an individual’s hip to waist ratio. I have a slight problem with waist gap, but my hip to waist ratio is not as pronounced as yours (your waist is tiny 😊). You may try purchasing your current size and then one size down. These jeans are relaxed in the hip and thigh. They are not as cinched in at the waist as the Hourglass jean because they are meant to have a bit of a slouch. If you find a pair that fits you at the widest part of your body and the waist is just a smidge too big, I would take them in to a tailor to get them taken in. For reference…I wear a 25 in Everlane jeans and I bought a 25 in these. I am a slight hourglass shape in that I am straighter up and down than you, but I do have a problem with waist gap in jeans. My inner thighs makes it sometimes difficult to fit jeans for me. I am also petite. Oh…I was in my 20’s in the 90’s and these jeans remind me of the jeans I wore back then 😁

I was so happy with my style. Then I got glasses. I dont mind them but it shifts the whole look - just slightly. And I dont really want my style to change yet I have to make some adjustments. And I kind of can't be bothered😊 Like - I was just satisfied. And now I have to adjust. Softness, grace and lighthearteness seems like a good way to go about that. Thanks! And happy new year ❤

Looking forward to seeing how this all plays out 😊 Will you do monthly/quarterly updates on how it's going? My style goals for 2025 are in no particular order: 1. I want to FEEL amazing in my wardrobe - focusing on how I feel and not the opinions of others. 2. I want to build a long lasting wardrobe with quality pieces I love. 3. I want to focus on adding sophisticated touches through jewellery, footwear and material in order to create a casual chic outfit. 4. I want to up my style game at home and work on having my style reflecting my style words (classic, relaxed, sophisticated). I will work on finding pieces that are both practical, comfortable and express my style. 5. I want to focus on adding variety through texture while still staying true to my style uniform - and this way avoiding duplicates. 6. I want to pay attention to not just buying for one season, but having the clothes fit my lifestyle. 7. I want to play around with my outfits in order to make them fit my style words. 8. I want to be intentional about what I am adding to my wardrobe and only add 20 new pieces. I will also allow for adjustment though out the year - life happens and there has to be room for growth and development 😊

Came across your channel to gain insight on finding my personal stlye. As we have similar style preferences, similar nody shapes, and almost the same hair length I would play around with your earrings. Sometimes a longer length, bolder design( though not chunky) can help. Especially if actually committing to wearing a neck scarf, hat, or headband feels silly. Also, you DO look great in contrast, bold, warm colors. You look great in black, so I would reconsider if you are a soft autumn or summer. You could be a spring. DON'T get rid of that black dress with the shoulder line you think isn't working for you with shorter hair. It's beautiful on you. I agree the middle of the road tones like the mauve an gray, the blue don't sing on you.

22k and 24k gold jewellery is really common in all parts of Asia and is not as soft as people think. Asians wear these pieces all the time. It just has to be 22k/24k solid pieces, not vermeil. Vermeil pieces are well overpriced too.

when youre talking about 24k gold plated stuff, etc. the plating is like microns thick. it costs less than $5 to plate a piece in 24k gold. i've seen recently that people's willingness to pay for plated pieces is so high because they see that it's made with real 24k gold. what they don't realize is that only 0.05% of the total material is "real gold". re: that necklace, you could have probably got a solid 14k piece for the same price.

Hi Alanna, I don't own a lot of jewelry (nor money, haha), but what i have is real. I have a few silver things, but i,m a bit allergic, and I don,t like polishing. The rest is 14 to 19,2 carat solid gold. the first item was my granny's, I inhereted. A small solid gold necklace with her and mine horoscope hanger. I was so happy with it. I did put it on and hardly ever take it off. It looks still as good as it did decades ago! And my husband bought me a ring and a necklace, small but delicate. And when I want something, I save up and buy second hand or new via online auctions, but you have to studie/y that very well before you are placing your bid because once placed a bid you can't withdraw it! Be carefull and prepared! I have purchased some really beautifull pieces of solid gold, for the price you paid for goldplated or filled.

Second hand is awesome, and overpriced vermeil pieces are indeed triggering. It's just glorified plating. I suggest avoiding all manner of plated jewelry. It will never last forever like solid metals will. I'm a fan of 9 or 10k gold, bc they are super durable and truly last forever. Plus, it tends to be more affordable 😁
@AlannaLightheart10 күн бұрын
I have absolutely realised that over the last few years, vermeil has become so normalised as the 'affordable option' 🧐 I love a lower carat as well, it tends to be a lovely soft gold colour as well which suits my colouring more than a vibrant deep gold. 🤌✨️

I just don’t do plating. Honestly if you like jewelry design, find someone local who will make things for you or even melt down and use pieces you don’t want etc. there is an established shop in most places but also you can find freelancers that will be flexible and less expensive. it’s not as expensive or as hard to find as you might think. My girlfriend is an architect but she did jewelry craft on the side in her twenties and did custom pieces that were gorgeous. I knew another art student who started a jewelry line crafted by her and a few other art friends that were simple but very unique and cute. Cruise craft and art schools, look for studio Collectives, crafter shows. Also with local instead of Etsy…. You actually get to look at it in person and if there are issues they will tweak it, reputation and relationships are the best form of quality control ( :

By definition, vermeil is always silver-based, so any business telling you it's brass-based vermeil is shady. Secondly, the plating must be between 5 and 10 microns thick if you want it to last for years. (Hermes uses 10 microns, for example) In conclusion, stay away from companies that do not offer at least a two-year warranty on their plating and those that cannot tell you the thickness of their plating.
@AlannaLightheart11 күн бұрын
I agree completely. I would say 3 microns is average for many companies and not even that in certain circumstances! 😤 honestly moving more away from vermeil to solid gold is where my jewelry collection is headed 💖
