Nice impression of a wonderful trip my friend. Can't get enough of landscapes like that combined with the freedom of a canoe. About the canoe: you've got yourself a new one? Have you sprayed it yourself? Love it! Well, can't wait for my next nordic tour. Tks for keeping me inspired mate. Atb, Hans. See ya!

Hej Hans, first time with open canoe in the sea and it's a all new world opening to me... And it's very local.. I just bought myself a real solo canoe, very short and very light I love it, everything is easier, carrying, strong winds etc... It was camo originally which doesn't hurt my feelings at all.. Next time you pass Gothenburg have a stop in town aswell and we can paddle in the islands...if the weather is ok..

Water is brutally cold. Your paddling companion has a knit hat and no neoprene gloves. You can lose the use of your hands in under a minute in very cold water, and that leaves you essentially helpless. Best practice calls for neo hood and gloves in addition to a proper wetsuit or drysuit. See this: www.coldwatersafety.org/gear-guide

Wow, good to see ya again my friend, and having a great time together with your girls. Wished I could do family camps like that too. I was at Svartedalen this year August, but too many people there camping along the road or near the water. Party tents, barbecues and music. I thought t Motets are not meant for parking, but cars were lined up at those places. No place left to launch my canoe. High season is probably not the right season for people like us. Have to come back another time. Perhaps I go early in the year next time. Anyway, enjoyed your trip. Atb, see ya, Hans

Actually just rewatched your vid of the first time in Svarte dalen few days ago and got inspired to put together some images from this summer.. still have a trip canoeing with some friends a little more north to put together... I agree totally with high season not for us.. on the top of that a lot of people usually travelling abroad on charters were stocked in Sweden this year. It's both good and bad i think... For us we have to go deeper in the forest .. would love ro meet you next summer maybe on your way to Norway maybe? If you wanna stop for few days at my place you are very welcome... That big lake is 300m from home ;) you could stay a bit there is some other nice lakes too very close so you know.. take care my friend

I have learned that my need for a saw depends greatly on the type of fire I need. When I use a twig stove (solo stove of Bushbox LF) I need the saw to cut 5-10cm rounds (2-4") that I then split & baton with the axe. But when I build a campfire I only need the axe. In both scenarios I have no need for a big heavy knife. For foodprep I use a neckknife, the lighter the better, I am too lazy to properly clean a folding knife. Great video! Too bad about the sound issues!
@BushcraftSweden
@BushcraftSweden 3 жыл бұрын
Exactly, the only time I use a bushcraft knife will be when doing fire in a box, and then splitting take sens and the small size make it safer with a knife I think, otherwise doing real fire I dont need any splitting at all and so I just need the saw..Thanks for stopping by Alex, take care
