The F355 is my all time favorite Ferrari. Nothing before or after it has captured me more. I owned a 308 GTSi when the F355 came out and said one day I’d own one. Since then I’ve owned only Porsches, my current one is a GT4RS. The only concern I have is catastrophic maintenance compared to more sensible choices like a 458, 360 or 328. But the F355 is just perfection.

The bills for belts are expensive, but it keeps the car very reliable because it’s a proper go through every 3 years. As long as you use someone like SB race engineering where the costs aren’t terrible and they know what they’re doing. It hurts, but not excessively!

Never been to the IoM despite being a keen biker in my teens and twenties. I've loved Stags ever since a neighbour bought a new one in the early 70s - hard to beat the look and sound at any price. I have now owned my Mimosa yellow Stag for over 11 years and am lucky enough to live in North Yorkshire where we also have brilliant driving roads and the sun shines quite a bit too! Enjoy your time as an honorary Manxman, thanks for making and posting the video.

My Wife and I are looking into leaving the UK and moving to the IoM. We have a Stag and a TR7V8 4.6 litre. How hard is the IoM vehicle test to pass? Both cars are in good condition. Are there any decent garages over there to work on older cars? I've always been hands on DIY but as I'm getting older I feel less like that. Many Stags over there? Fantastic video.
@sportscarstory7 күн бұрын
I’m not sure how many Stags there are, but my new accountant has one! The test wasn’t too bad to be fair. I thought my stag would fail because of an oil leak (I was told they were strict on that) but it was just an advisory. T&T autos did some work on my e type when we arrived. They really know their stuff. Proper old school. Good luck! You won’t regret coming here. It’s so safe and pleasant.

Hi, having watched your very enjoyable video, here’s a few coincidences, I have lived in Bedfordshire since 1992, I owned a white ‘76 Stag from 1998 to 2008 ( sadly no longer in existence) , spent a nice week on the I.O.M in September 2021 touring around in my Jag FType and used the A36 when travelling north from “Calf of Man”. As you say all the roads are excellent especially as there are very few speed restrictions.

Great video! I'm currently thinking of getting either a Mk 1 Supersports, or a Mk 2 V8, which in Switzerland are roughly the same (CHF 60-70'). Given your Bentley knowledge, which one do you think will make me happier for the run from Zurich to our place in southern France? Others are obviously welcome to chip in as well, thanks!
@sportscarstory9 күн бұрын
I’d say , no 2 v8 for comfort, mk1 Supersports for sporty handling and acceleration- plus exclusivity and investment as it’s rare. Glad you liked the video, enjoy your Bentley!

I’m 47 now and trying to get my name out into the art world, started in March 2024 to help with my mental health. Think this is the last and only way I can achieve my dream. Really enjoyed your story, thank you. Out of all the cars out there today the 355 is still what I want. It’s beautiful. If you ever need a passenger please let me know lol. I don’t think there is much younger people aspire much for anymore. Everything has been ruined by either regulations and greed. The lack of soul in modern art and architecture is a great example of how nothing is made with passion anymore. The closest thing I see young people getting excited for is travel and partying. Pretty shallow, imo.

I agree that aspiration for amazing cars or art or watches has really changed - and it’s had a major impact on economic activity. The world is poorer for it.

I had it done over such a long period , I’m not quite sure how much it cost. I bought it mid project, so it had already been completely stripped. And the guy had bought a trim kit, a brake kit, he’d had the engine built, etc etc, so I got lucky. I think it cost me £11k in 2010

The 360 was not a bad follow up mechanical and design wise. Especially, when doing service on the timing belt. After that I lost interest in Ferrari. The newer stuff has too many cuts and creases (in the design)for aggression and cooling.

3:15 - Breaking the cardinal rule of closing a trunk, overcoming resistance by forcing it closed. That resistance is how the trunk communicates something is preventing it from closing normally and needs attention before attempting to close it again. Forcing the trunk to close by pressing down hard as the narrator does risks damaging the securing mechanism or worse, could result in damage to the trunk lid due to a protruding object in the trunk bending the lid to enable closure.

Fair enough. I’ll take that into account. Thanks!

All depends how often you tow. If it’s only occasionally I don’t see that it’s much of a compromise. If you enjoy the EV when not towing and 90% of your driving is without a trailer in tow, just enjoy the 90% use and put up with the slight inconvenience on 10% of your journeys. People need to stop looking for the negatives in anything new.
