Looks a beautiful place, my Mum would love going there on holiday when she was young. Looking forward to an update on the Steed replica 🙂

Welcome to the Island. Hope it works out well for you. Drop your guard and get used to the lack of crime.Oh, and drive the Sloc. Fantastic road.

Thanks! Yes found the sloc. What a fab road. We’re loving it here. Still looking for a good curry house though.

Great news to hear you've moved here. Will keep an eye out, sir. As a previous XJC owner, I'll be pleased to see the progress of this.

Thanks very much. I’ll keep an eye out for you.! What car do you have?

Nothing special at the moment. Just sold my old ST220, but still enthusiastic for anything interesting. I spend most of my time driving a Skoda Superb taxi, or running around in my little yellow Citroën C1. I'm sure we'll bump into each other sooner or later. Keep up the vids👍

Fascinating. We're looking at moving to the Island too, including moving my collection which includes the F355 and E-type! Small world..

Do it. You won’t regret it. It’s better than we thought it would be.

It would be good to get 2 etypes & 2 355’s together!

Hi, that’s any interesting relocation from Berkshire. I’ve been to the IOM just once in 2022 for a few days and loved driving the Jag F Type round the roads which were as good as you say. It will be interesting to see how you get on maintaining the cars when you are limited by the resources on the Island.

The Ferrari and Lamborghini will go back to SB for servicing. I’m probably going to buy a trailer. But there’s plenty of garages for the classic stuff.

Hello, interesting update on the Steed wheel. How did the chap from Vintage tyres get a scan of the original wheel? I thought there was only one set?
@sportscarstory6 күн бұрын
Sorry I want clear. There’s a chap who has an original wheel. He wouldn’t let us borrow it, but he kindly scanned it for us. So Tim has that scan now and is going to get it 3D printed. Once we are happy with size, we can then get a foundry to make an alloy wheel mold, and make some wheels.

Could I ask where you sourced all of the parts from for the 355 manual conversion and how much did everything cost? Thanks
@sportscarstory2 күн бұрын
The parts were from Eurospares. I had to keep trying them for a year or so till they had a car to break. I think they were £10,000 all in ish but the price is rising. I saw one set on eBay for £20,000 a while ago

@@sportscarstory Thank you! :) Can't wait to see you driving and enjoying the car post conversion.

As a Manx man I can say enjoy the good days they are few and far between. If you love your car I would not put it through the test the screw driver abuse to the underside is quite horrific Some little gits stole my scooter from outside my flat on Peel prom back in the seventies.

The good weather days are few and far between in England too! But I take your point (I was kind of kidding because the weather reputation of IOM proceeds it) The main reason we’ve made the move is just how bad crime has got in England, especially near London. We had 2 cars stolen last year. Police were useless.
@davidprocter35787 күн бұрын
@@sportscarstory You are quite right of course I never took the key out of the ignition of my car on the island, on traveling to England it took soaking in WD 40 and a pair of pliers to remove it. Never buy a brolley waste of money the wind destroys them in a heartbeat. Living in london for a few years had two cars stolen a motor bike two bicycles oh and a van. My advice sell the ferrari and buy yourself a fast racing yacht lots more fun.

I’d buy a boat, but I’m a bit scared of the sea! Maybe a Cuddy cabin speed boat that I’d only use if the sea’s like a mill pond ..
@davidprocter35787 күн бұрын
@@sportscarstory Speed boats are great for making your bones ache and rattling your brain then they get decidedly boring, get someone to take you out on a Tornado, and experience some real speed by the seat of your pants type ride. I take it that you are joking about the sea no one goes to live on an island that is scared of the sea. I did realise that your comment on the weather was tongue in cheek you must have spent enough time there house hunting to get a feel for the weather. I would like to come home , and have been checking out property on line , prices are ridiculous when I left the island in 79 you could buy property silly cheap small cottage in Foxdale for £1500 a twelve bed boarding house in Douglas for fifteen or less, as a boy you could buy cottages for fifty quid.

Could you please explain what you mean by "I would not put it through the test" ... I thought the Test on the IoM was obligatory and you had to by law. And you didn't have any choice, if you go to live on the island and take your car with you. Or can you avoid having your car tested, and if so, will it be legal to drive on the island and not have it Tested?
