Excellent on the lip with the table saw! No fancy stuff... (THATS FANCY!!) I used a router to make a rebate. But liked that method! Get your self two grinders, cheap ones they last. One for a flap disk another with a cutoff wheel.. (Or one for both) you won't look back !!! A dust collector must filter 5 microns or better out a window. Many shops look clean as a whistle but the floating particles are what dead you, not a clean shop. I don't use a filter, it goes out the wall. Like your build!!!

Beautiful. Are your table legs 1.5” or 2”? They look perfect. Curious as to the dimensions for my own table.

Any reason I can’t use a compound mitre saw instead of the track saw?
@TheOffcut
@TheOffcut Ай бұрын
If your mitre saw has the cut capacity then sure. I made this 400mm deep which is too big for my mitre saw. I also get more accuracy out of the track saw over the mitre saw for these kinds of cuts.

@@TheOffcut thanks! I bought your plans yesterday, haven’t built furniture before but hoping to tackle it this weekend. I wouldn’t mind cutting the door into three pieces but not sure if it would be as simple as that or if it would look off.

@@TheOffcut I ended up using my circular saw and clamped an edge down. Seemed to work good enough. Question, on the holes and the edge of the door to take the router to it to clean it up, what type of bit do you use for that?

I see the figure 8 fastener mistake all the time. Obviously way too late, but you can’t put those on the sides. It will lock it in place and do the exact opposite of what you’re looking for. Just a heads up.

I am very very very new to woodworking, but i've loved CAD/3DS max and making things with those just because i personally enjoy doing it, and i've been second guessing that decent products could be made from plywood, but this really changed my mind about that completely. Its super cool to see whats possible with limited tools and limited space!

I did a similar table using reclaimed mahogany and learned a couple things the hard way. One, you have to orient each tabletop board so you can plane the surface (1:38) in one direction. If not, the plane will gouge the surface... fill with epoxy later, but it's unsightly. The growth rings on your top boards (some up, some down) suggest they may cup later. That's a small fortune in tools. Facing the boards on a table saw is more properly done on a jointer. You should emphasize that any epoxy has to be absolutely well mixed. The blowtorch on the epoxy is to pop the bubbles that will rise up to the surface, but it's unnecessary if you're going to sand it later. Blind tenons on the legs would have left the completed table a little more attractive. Everyone's a critic... you did a nice job.

I built one similar to this - never really cared about how it looked so mine is a lot more quick & dirty - but it's the same slanted, horizontal board design. It's great, but if you want to attach your pedals with zipties you should install vertical straps of some kind, otherwise zipties don't really work unless you drill holes or something. That's the one improvement that I would suggest to this design (and that I will add next time I make one).

This is a great design. I'm impressed with it. Not super impressed that you don't own an angle grinder and you had to cut the bin with a hacksaw. But good job for getin' er' done!

Egad. Some of the most dangerous cutting techniques I have ever seen. Using a sled with the wood up against the rip fence? Hand over the blade? Fellow hobbyists, please no not copy a lot of the techniques shown here.
