Remember if it's Blum hinges you can turn off one of the soft close mechanisms if the doors are slow. Really nice set!

Really nice project that mate. If you flick the soft close switch off on just one of the hinges, it'll speed up the closing.

They didn’t want it to be a place where they would shove things in and over crowd it and they thought drawers would do that do they just wanted a door to hide a book or 2. Otherwise I would have left it as an open shelf

This is funny, I'm currently building a headboard with floating nightstands and they even have the same style "drawer pull" (though the proportions are a bit different. Also, the outside of mine is getting dyed black and the drawer fronts are walnut with a matching contour epoxy inlay

I like the final look of them, but the hinges seem really obtrusive. They would limit what you could put in there - not sure what would be a better option, though. Have you tried just using tape to close up a miter jointed box like that? Just seems like a bit of a waste to use those connectors if you don't intend for it to come apart later. I realize you have to balance ease of assembly with cost, so maybe it still makes sense for you to use the connectors - but i've had great results with just painters tape.

The customer doesn’t intend to put a lot of things inside, hence why they didn’t want drawers. Instead they just wanted a door to hide away a book of 2. Otherwise I would have left it without a door. As for the glue up, the oak was cupped and tape wouldn’t have been strong enough to pull the mitres. I wanted the best chance of getting the best joints with the cupped oak and the cams were able to force it together and straighten out the wood. They joys of buying pre machined timber
