Thank you so much for all the detailed information. I am having one eye done with The Alcon Panoptix trifocal in March, depending on how it goes I will have a monofocal for distance in the other eye.

Thanks Kurt, I had my eye op six weeks ago. Advised by my optician to go for monofocal as they have had post op referrals with patients having problems with multifocal lens which they cannot correct. Yes, even the enhanced monofocals are not perfect, I have been prescribed varifocal lens with transition. I have little near vision for reading, very sensitive to light. I accept it.

The lense transparent will degrade over years. If you wear glasses, youll see the lenses will turn browish after 1 or 2 years

I have a pretty scrappy 4 1/2 month old White Leghorn rooster. I’ve done this technique about 3 times. So… after a few days, he starts trying to attack me again. I’ll keep doing this process. Wanting it to be successful because I cannot turn my back on him! The most difficult part is catching him! It is like catching a roadrunner! I’ve used a net. That helps, but the catching process is by far the most traumatic part.

I’m sorry Kurt but you were egging him on by pushing your booted foot in his face and of course he will attack. From his pov you started it. Also you metaphorically castrated him in front of his girls Not sure if that’s the only way to do that. I’ve had roosters and once you do what you did with your boot they will be sure to want to fight you any time they see you. It’s just their instinct. Poor boy. He’s handsome

I don't mind having some of these issues but I guess it's hard to know the degree of the problem. Ultimately I just want to know a person who has had both mono focal and multi focal and which they prefer and would settle on. I'm either going for close up mono or multi. But got what u said about soldering, so might end up with close up mono

I do electronics and am inclined to choose mono focal up close lenses. The discussions on multifocal concern me that I'll end up being annoyed and unhappy with results.

This is a REALLY bad idea. You do this with a rooster with a dopamine/ amigdala issue it will get worse not better. On a normal rooster it will make it to where if there are weather issues like blizzards, tornadoes, hurricanes etc you will have a really hard time putting him somewhere safe in an emergency. If he gets injured ir sick he will be hell to treat. Please go look at roovelution for more on alternatives to rooster submission training.

Negative point of doing this method is that the rooster will think you are the dominant one so YOU protect the flock and then the rooster you're pinning down will no longer protect the hens! I would not use this method.
@oz457

A rooster will always protect his flock. Chicken don't think like a human. A rooster will use his instinct and will always do what a rooster is supposed to do.

Hi Kurt.. Great video with great details. How is your experience with watching movies in a movie theatre? You see any glares etc while watching cinema? Also do you know of any change or advancement in technique or lens types after 6-7 years of your eye surgery ?

0828 AM I am trying to decide which lens to choose. I am a 72yo needing cataract surgery who currently have and wear trifocal glasses that are only needed for reading. My doctor suggested monofocal IOL lense replacement but I thought trifocal IOLs would be better. My question is “if I can see perfectly for mid- and long distance and only need magnification for reading; then why is a prescription needed in the IOL replacement lenses? Would you provide your insights so that I can make an informed decision. Currently I can see fine but need a little brighter light to read small print mostly without glasses. Colors seem a bit yellowed though. Thank you so much.

I have had the Clareon Panoptix IOL's for 2 weeks and you are the first person who explained what I am experiencing, what the future will be like and how to add brightness to my watch and phone so I can read them! I learned more here than anywhere else. The contrast, double vision, bleed over, etc. I see it all but now I know haw to deal with it and what it will be like in the future. Great information here. You actually helped me solve some of my issues and calmed many concerns. I think I just got much more happy with my new eyes.

Hi Kurt, Thanks for the videos! It's exactly what I was looking for. You provide the best, honest detailed description so I can understand what to expect. I would like your opinion about my case: I'm a high school teacher so my work day is consisted of looking at either the computer screen and looking at textbooks etc. when I do my prep work. In the classroom, I need to alternate between looking at the whiteboard from different locations in the classroom (we use whiteboards with Expo markers) and looking at my notes and looking at students work and at the computer screen if I'm teaching using a projector. I would say that in the classroom it is a constant mix of short and medium range. And of course I have to do a lot of grading/marking of students' work. The tests are usually handwritten using pencil on white paper and it can be for long period of time (60 tests to mark, each one 4 pages...poor me lol). Will the contrast issue make it hard? Too tiring? The school environment is naturally usually very lit with fluorescent lights. Like you, my main motivation is to get rid of the spectacles (I carry them ALL the time with a strap on my neck...) and at this point I also need glasses for ranges such as TV and far range although very small number. I do understand that at some circumstances there will be some inconveniences that you described about the contrast, I'm just worried that it will not work well in the school and in that case, I am doomed. Any thoughts? I am not expecting a professional response, just your opinion. And one more very important question: Have you tried to invert the screen on your phone or computer screen? Meaning that you will have black background and white letters? Would that help with the contrast? Would that allow you to use the phone with lower intensity? I'm pretty sure most phones have this setting. Or there's another setting that is supposed to help with the contrast which adds an outline to letters. I have it on my phone. Thanks again for the videos that you do for the benefit of people. Roy

Hey Kurt, I just discovered your videos on your recovery journey recently and they are very helpful. I had a PanOpix multifocal lens put in my first eye 10 days ago. My vision improved quite a bit on day 2 and day 3, but hasn't much since then. My vision of that eye is still a bit blurry, although that eye can already see a lot better than prior to the surgery. I can also still feel slight pain in the eye caused by the inflammation in the eye. My vision at ~1 m distance is quite blurry. Beyond or closer is much better. Unfortunately, I work in front of a computer a lot. So the intermediate vision is very important to me. I suspect the blurriness has to do with the inflammation, but I'm also afraid this is actually how my brain interprets the new vision (which means it will stay like this). I read on the Internet that, generally, the inflammation should go away after a few days post surgery. In my case, this is clearly not the case. I was wondering what was your experience in terms of the pain/discomfort you felt during your recovery. How long did it take for that to go away? I I'm scheduled to do the surgery for my 2nd eye in 4 days. I'm thinking about delaying it just to see how the first eye will progress in the next couple of weeks. Thank you again for your videos. Your response to my questions would be much appreciated!
