I'm so glad I found your channel, I started ballet classes at 31 last week after wanting to do them since I was a child. I love it so much already and its great to know I'm not the only one starting 'late' - I've discovered there's a whole community of late comer ballerinas!

Hmmm! I’m having to try to get an understanding on your approach to ballet. It’s a bit whimsical and casual. My perspective was very disciplined and rigid. I went through a whole physical transformation to a ballet dancer. When ever I took a break from ballet. I always returned to a beginner level class to regain my legs articulation, as well as feel my core muscles holding my core in correct alignment. A variation class I would’ve thought there might be a warmup ballet barre, but if it’s only an hour, then I see why it wasn’t included. The class is just working on well known choreography from ballets. Oh your new do was beautifully coiffed. Oh, and the feathered bun was fine. No need for a net. But just an observation about your reason to have it done seems that all women have their hair changed, especially when they go through a breakup. As a former ballet/dance instructor I’ve known many women that have performed that ritual. A psychological purging of a past emotional trauma. I suppose for women it’s a reset button, a way to have closure from that hurt and pain. One of the step in dealing with grief. Well it’s unfortunate I’m nowhere in the vicinity of your rehearsal. If the production needed another male. I’m sure I could’ve filled a spot. I’ve performed in many productions back when I was still dancing and an injury I had during a ballet class. The party scene it’s at all tasking. Oh, you definitely have an affinity for that style of dance for burlesque. Let your freak flag unfurl. Well I hope your nutcracker performance(s) went well.

Do you ever get nervous doing performances? I want to do one as an beginner adult ballerina but get so scared about messing up on stage 😅

@@Ohitsrachel99 yes I get SOOOO anxious beforehand! But I’ve learned that preparation is key and if you mess up, you smile and keep going like you totally meant to do that. The audience doesn’t know

Sadly the real ballet enviroment isnt all that easy ..im not quite sure about your entire story situation but its complex … theres a tremendous amount of bullying negativity cliques are the staple of all companies/schools … I love your prespective because its overall inspiring but honestly either you know youre lying or your company/school is a NOTEWORTHY INCREDIBLE BIZZARE ALL ARE EQUAL ENVIROMENT LOLOLOL its amusing kinda like a cartoon 😅

@@Lookiseeyou I agree, the ballet environment needs SO much work, and I’ve been pretty vocal about my negative experiences along my journey thus far. As a volunteer in the party scene surrounded largely by my friends and family (who also choose to volunteer with me), I’m not really exposed to the full company/school experience so if that is going on, I’m simply not present for it. For me personally, this has been a wonderful experience but I’m really sympathetic to the fact that many ballet environments are not encouraging or uplifting and can even be abusive. It’s a major change I’d love to see in the future of ballet

Everyone can learn technique. Expressing the passion is something not every dancer got and definitely not everyone can learn. And you definitely got it, it’s a joy to watch ❤

You give me hope ❤ ballet has been a dream of mine for sooo long I was in ballet at a young age but ended up quitting when I probably should’ve just gone to another place that was more encouraging but being so young I didn’t know but it’s something that has always danced in the back of my mind and I think this is my year to start again

You absolutely can! And you absolutely will! It’s just like building any skill, building muscle, building stability, building, flexibility, and learning some placement. Ballet takes a lot of effort, and it’s a hard as shit workout! But I leave every single class filled with joy and energy because of how much I learn. The growth is faster than you would imagine. Even for an older lady like me! Anyone can improve!

I'm 32 and just started ballet this year. I took lessons when I was 15-16, but found that I didn’t have the patience for it at that time. That is definitely a big advantage I have now as an adult😊

I took ballet for years when I was young, but quit right before I turned 12 so I couldn't do pointe yet. Now, in my mid-40s, I want to get back into ballet and eventually go on pointe. You are still SO YOUNG. Don't give up
