This hit home. "God is not the author of confusion", as the scripture states. And for me, and my journey, protestantism has led to extreme confusion, heartbreak and me almost leaving my faith. I'm a cradle Catholic and believe I'm on my way home.

I agree with this video and am grateful to have come across it. However, it seems that Catholicism and Judaism are closely related. Didn't Yeshua state that we should call no man "father" for we have only one Father in Heaven. Also, that we should call no man "teacher" for there is only one Teacher. Two flavors of the same dish of lies in my opinion. With that said, I thank you for this video and look forward to watching more.

Sola scriptura? Did Our Lord leave us with ‘scriptura’? No, He left us as a living body of believers - a ‘church’. The life of that body has gone on through 20 centuries - with Him as its head, immersed in His Spirit, and worshipping the Father. One of God’s greatest gifts to His Family has been ‘Scriptura’. God gives the scriptures to His Family so as to reveal Himself, to show His nature, to teach us of His history with us, to encourage us, to thrill us, to motivate us, to guide us, to inspire prayer and relationship with Him, to be used in liturgy (Mass!) BUT, the doctrine of “sola scriptura” treats the Bible as if it were intended as a source book for the practice of amateur theology, or as a sort of license which entitles just anybody to pick it up and claim to be a shepherd with authority over the sheep of His pasture. The idea of sola scriptura may sound reasonable at first, but just look out at how it has been fracturing the Lord’s Church into so many pieces. How can it possibly be the Lord’s will to see His scripture being used to sow so much confusion and division?

9:40 The division and disagreements within the Catholic Church itself is most certainly the issue. They say Protestants aren’t unified but Protestantism isn’t a church it’s an umbrella term. The diversity between Protestants is already bigger than Catholic and orthodox by default. So I don’t think that’s a fair comparison. I don’t call myself Protestant I call myself Christian and we agree on the same core dogma of the trinity and Jesus nature and so on, but I don’t believe in praying mail Mary’s which some Catholics don’t prefer either, but I’m bad and the other isn’t because they have the label of Catholic? That misses the whole point. Like Pharisees yelling at Jesus for healing on sabbath. The core of the issue is not the label but the devotion and faith. Love the video but Protestants and Catholics alike have similar dishonest critiques of each other, like saying Catholics worship saints, or Protestants are all mega church hyper grace people. There’s equal distain on both sides and personally I think a lot of Catholics are superstitious and miss the point of some spiritual aspects because of the tangible practicality of the faith. And non heretical Protestants are too lenient with church structure whereas there’s no central leader. Because there’s discrepancies in both, I see it as the veil is lifted, where we don’t need superficial things like church labels or buildings to worship but rather we can worship in spirit and truth and not in superstition that misses the whole point. That was a lot but thanks for reading. I just want to follow Christ and my heart yearns for Him. I don’t want to start a fight.
@devotedandfree
@devotedandfree 5 күн бұрын
I already see an incoming response as “well when you say the veil is lifted and some Christians are superstitious with tangible things, that’s YOUR interpretation and who’s to say it’s right?” If I had the label of deacon or priest or bishop I’d be reliable but because I’m not then my argument or stance is invalid? That’s a fallacy.

But you have to assume when he said body of Christ and the church, it means the Catholic Church. Church translated to believers. So if all the believers are in the body of Christ, it doesn’t matter if they’re catholic or orthodox or Protestant. It matters their faithfulness to the will do the father and believing unto the son. Also when looking at sola scriptura, if the pope says something heretical, where do we go to disprove him? Scripture. We can only know someone is a heretic based on scriptures. And sure interpretation is a big deal, but room for interpretation is in the Catholic Church too. Also you seem to confuse a body of believers as being physical, when it’s actually spiritual. It doesn’t matter if I’m Catholic for 10 years then orthodox and then some kind of baptist by title, if I am in the body of Christ, the title of Catholic or where I go to church physically doesn’t matter. I am not seperate by Christ because I decide to change the building just attend. Also assuming Protestantism is basically majority mega churches and hyper grace churches is dishonest and you know it. Hyper grace is generally considered untrue by any Christian nomination. I’m not trying to start a fight, these are just responses I have. At the end of the day it’s not the devotion that saves us, however I do look at devotion and submission to God as a metric to see faith. I look at devotion instead of the physical church they attend or what they label themselves. Baptist, Catholic, evangelical, orthodox, etc

As a protestant, i hear where you’re coming from, and accept your challenges to look further. As all christians, i believe that truth is not relative. I also believe that the catholic church is no less flawed in its interpretation of the truth than any other denomination, likewise established and sustained by men. Because that is our view, *roman* catholicism is just another flavor, only this one puts human tradition on equal standing with scripture, (in my mind reminiscent of the Pharisees Mark 7:8-9). So while i understand your argument to maintain unity and keep from spiritual relativism, I don’t see the solution being for everyone to cast aside their heartfelt beliefs, reasoned from the scripture, and submit to the every spiritual whims of one particular city. The last thing any of us protestants want to do is outsource our relationship with God to any one or any institution. What the solution is to these problems you’ve mentioned, i’d be happy to humbly throw in some thoughts. Much love to all my Christian brothers, I pray God bless you and indeed unite us in bringing the good news to all peoples and expanding the kingdom of heaven on earth. ❤✝️

Apostolic succession...definitely because the bishops met the criteria in the Bible for being a bishop or was it a popularity contest? God picked pope John XII? He is in the same line as Peter, God's supreme authority on earth. This spesific Pope gave land to his mistress, murdered several people and was killed by the angry husband when this pope was caught in the act of adultery. Or maybe the criteria for being a bishop was Pope Urban VI (1378-1389), who complained that he did not hear enough screaming when Cardinals who had conspired against him were tortured.? Maybe we should look up to Pope Leo X (1513-1521), a spendthrift member of the Medici family who once spent 1/7 of his predecessors' reserves on a single ceremony. During his time as Pope he spent all the money, ending up 400 000 ducats in debt. He increased the selling of indulgences to cover the expenses... That's when Martin Luther called him out...

Church hopping happened in the apostles time... 1 Corinthians 3:4 NIV [4] For when one says, “I follow Paul,” and another, “I follow Apollos,” are you not mere human beings? This mindset has more to do with immaturity than anything else.

I am a protestant but please think about this. Historically before the schism, church power was divided between Rome, Antioch, Jerusalem, Constantinople and Alexandria. Why then is Rome suddenly the first church established by Jesus when it was originally five centers of power?
@TheJewishCatholic
@TheJewishCatholic 7 күн бұрын
There seems to be a misunderstanding. No one claims “Rome is the first Church”. The Catholic Church is composed of members all throughout the world. It is universal, hence the use of the word “Catholic”. And sure, there are some churches, all in communion, throughout the old world such as the ones you mentioned that are held in great esteem due to their lineage. Regarding Rome, it is held is special regard from the earliest times due to the fact that the head of the bishops, or the pope, resides there. Being that you were misinformed about Rome being claimed as “the first Church”, perhaps you are also not fully familiar with the papacy. I have videos regarding that type of content. You can also check the work by Suan Sona, Dr. Brant Pitre and Dr. Scott Hahn.

Japan, Korea, Singapore, and India are the places where the faith is growing or has the perfect situations for future missions. The Japanese arent like other Secular nations they never heard the faith so its not that they reject it they just never heard of it; which is better for ministry work as in a post-modern country like in Europe where a high amount of people are atheist like Japan, they already have a false negative view of Catholicism and were already exposed to it and reject it in a toxic way. May there be new missions in Japan, people in Japan are getting tired of liberalism and want to be traditional it looks like.

We, Christians, are all one church- all denominations. We may disagree on some details but the foundation is consistent. Martin Luther didn't seek to make separations in the catholic church. He accused the catholic church of abusing it's power and spreading ideas that are not in scripture. Also, you could make a strong argument that the catholic church created divide by separating from the orthodox church, the original church. If in the beginning was the word and the word was God, then what higher authority could there possibly be? Scripture says that the Holy Spirit interprets the word, not humans or tradition. I hope all Christians can find unity in the love of Jesus Christ.

I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I enjoyed your sola scripture critique. I will add: is this not what the Pharisees did? They gave all authority to a text, and really not the text but the scribes and scholars interpretation thereof. It was utterly wrong however, and because of that they killed prophets that Jesus said he sent, and eventually generally rejected Jesus Christ, their Messiah. Rejecting Gods messengers they thought their own interpretation was perfect, until it wasn’t. I think scripture is important and everybody should have the right to read and interpret scripture, but the pattern the Bible was written was by Gods messengers, prophets and apostles, who wrote, taught, led, and interpreted, called by God, so the people would know Gods will. I don’t see within Catholic vs Protestant argument the Protestants refuting this, they just seem to not join the church because of other problems glaring at them within Catholic doctrine. May God lead us all to the truth, let us pray this often. I love all my Protestant and Catholic brothers and sisters! Stay strong in the faith of Jesus Christ. Have a wonderful day!

If you eat the Eucharist as the literal flesh of Christ, this makes you a cannibal. This makes no sense! Mary is the mother of God yet God created her and is the God of all creation. What about Joseph? Should he be the father of God? This makes no sense! Mary’s has perpetual virginity but yet she had sex with her husband Joseph and bore 4 sons- James, Jose’s, Simon, and Jude and unnamed sisters. This makes no sense! Pope Francis formally approved letting Catholic priests bless same-sex couples but yet stated homosexual activity is “intrinsically disordered.” This makes no sense! You guys make up stuff apart from scripture that makes no sense!
