@Riding-Raptor19 сағат бұрын
My humble advice would be to get a light bike with a calm engine. There are some very powerful dual-sports out there, but an overly snappy bike can be challenging for a beginner off-roader. A bike with a calm engine will allow you to sharpen your off-road skills more easily. Once you’re ready, you can move up to a 450 dual-sport-that’s my plan, anyway.

I think u are correct with the light is right statement, it would be interesting to learn how u came to decide on a CRF 300, sometimes it can be as simple as a good Honda dealer on your doorstep . Im toying with the idea of another dirt bike , and I'm not so interested in going fast so for me it might be a Montesa 4ride coming in at under 100kgs I think it would suit me and my age ....
@Riding-Raptor2 күн бұрын
It’s actually quite simple, I didn’t have many other options. The dual-sport segment is pretty lackluster in my country. There are a few Chinese manufacturers, along with KTM and Honda, that offer dual-sports. However, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Kawasaki only bring adventure bikes and competition dirt bikes for their off-road lineup. So, it basically came down to choosing between KTM or the CRF.

Smaller bikes are more fun, capable, and can go places that bigger bikes can’t. I don’t care what anyone says. They would have to follow me through the woods to prove anything anyway. I know where I go, I certainly wouldn’t want to be on a bike that weighs more than 380lbs. max. But, that’s just the kind of riding I tend to do, and I’m all about using the right tool for the job.

Great video btw. Oh and I remember watching Toni Bou on a Africa Twin doing stunts and various tricks. I was so amazed that I thought it was an performance act in a circus. Which in fact wasn't too far from the truth because Toni is a very skilled trials rider, so doing difficult stuff on the Africa Twin would be quite alot easier for him than for anybody else. But that is the point - challenge the norm. Show is great when the artist knows his stuff, but ask him what bike he'd bring to any hard enduro race. I bet he'd take a 250 or 350 KTM enduro type of bike.

I'm sure that in fact Pol finds the T7 quite alot heavier to handle than any 250-450 cc bike, and not the optimal choice for offroading. It is a simple matter of physics, nothing else. Promoting a brand, or a specific bike, a rider with skills of an expert, performing in a edited clip that is made with particular focus on this bike will ofcourse make anybody imagine the bike in question will be as good as it seems in that clip. Sure, you can make it look like it, but reality is quite a bit different, as you now understand.

Ok....well....how about who went from lets say a DRZ400 to a Tenere, and kept the DRZ400 to make it a pair. One bike for the single track trails and pure off road riding, and the other for some proper roads, gravel roads, trails of various shapes and sizes....Bottom line is you learned the hard way, followed the marketing of Yamaha, fell for it, and didn't actually know enough about bikes to know, any large bike is a hand full. Skill and strength is a requirement for off road riding in the first place...look a the simple weight specifications of a bike before you "believe" its an off road bike for you....For example...would Paul Torres get any satisfaction from riding your CRF...I doubt it. Really not sure the point of all these videos about ADV bikes, heaviness, tallness etc...Maybe you have heard of ARiemann1...you don't hear him complaining about weight....he simply acknowledges a bike's characteristics, and make them work for him....Its called chasing the dragon in my books.....or similarly, giving up your pet at the SPCA, and getting another one you are able to handle....Its a breed of bikes not for the weak, or faint of heart, or low skill level....many an ADV rider are learning this the hard way, both financially , and with some broken bones. Do I like your video, not really...the footage is just plain done that beforeish...I do like the lack of talking thought...good idea...being able to read through it is a good idea....

I don't see that as a 'downgrade' at all. Each bike suits a specific riding style and need. Furthermore, a reliable 300cc trail bike can do ANYTHING an adventure bike does with A LOT more agility at cheaper maintenance costs. Adventure bikes may be more comfortable for cruising and they do accelerate faster and reach a higher top speed, but for their price, I could easily own two bikes: one for my trail riding needs and a 600cc four-cylinder to outperform any Africa Twin or a GS in acceleration or top speed. Best regards. 😊

I agree, although I've stuck with a smaller adventure bike, 500cc. Most of my off road riding will be hard packed surfaces, fire roads, well loved trails (no single tracks), and minimal mud/rivers. But those guys on things like the Africa Twin, they are suffering, worried about gas mileage, and trying to figure out how the heck to pick the thing up.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a "unicorn" bike that can do it all. It ultimately comes down to what you prioritize in your riding.
