I think this is a great bass line and I like the tone, and I’ve always thought the bass was buried too low in the Brothers and Sisters mix. Berry’s and Lamar’s.

Lamar Williams was the bass player on the ABB Brothers And Sisters album. I don't think that this is Berry Oakley playing although this may have been in the can before he died. Edit: I did a fact check and Barry Oakley did in fact play bass on the Brothers And Sisters album.

My first real gig as a musician was with Lamar's father's band, Loula Bolden and the Mighty Blasters. I was 16. That was in 1976 or 1977, in Gulfport Mississippi. Jaimoe still lives here on the MS Gulf Coast, and still gigs.

Many years ago, I worked in the traffic signal department in Macon. We had a signal at Napier and Burton Lane. We'd have to drive through where Berry had his accident to get to it. It always gave me chills. Same thing with Duane's accident site. We would occasionally drive past through it to get to a signal futher down Napier Road. They'll never be a better southern rock band better than the Allman Brothers.

This is great. Thank you. It sounds like his D string is a little flat. Did Berry play with a pick live or just in the studio ?

Nothing like a driving bassline. This bassline really carries the entire song.

Please fix the description of this video. This is NOT Sib Hashian or Fran Sheehan. This is Jim Masdea on drums and Tom Scholz on bass. Everyone deserves to know who they are actually listening to.

Definitely one of the most underrated bassist’s in the whole music scene and an awesome songwriter too with very busy bass playing styles. I bet he firstly learned bass on an upright traditional bass as his style is very much like a player who would have played an upright bass and has moved over to electric bass back in the day? I would put him up there with Flea as one of the best in the world and so so underrated as a songwriter!!! Love to STP!! 🤘🤘

Thanks for this track! The first Boston album is one of my absolute favorites and I'm always impressed by Brad Delp's vocals, the rhythm section, the overall sound of the album and the great and timeless songs in general! Regarding the rhythm section, I would also like to recommend you a completely different album: "Live" by James Taylor (1993). What drummer Carlos Vega and bassist Jimmy Johnson play there together and also live is simply phenomenal (for me). "Country Road" is one of my favorites on the album in this regard. All the best! Andreas :)

I’ve listen to this song for many, many, times for many, many, years and today was the first day I heard this isolated version. It really brought home how wonderfully John Entwistle played. Playing multiple rhythms throughout the same song while keeping perfect time shows what a brilliant musician he was.
