Nel 1954 imparai la loro canzone " I' m Fool to care " e, la ricordo ancora,. Erano i primi passi con la chitarra elettrica forse era una EKO mezza cassa bianca.

Remembering Les Paul born on June 9, 1915. He was an American jazz, country, and blues guitarist, songwriter, luthier, and inventor. He was one of the pioneers of the solid-body electric guitar, and his prototype, called the Log, served as inspiration for the Gibson Les Paul. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Les_Paul

I got a little wife, she's the joy of my life, There's no place like home! I got a little house that I call my own There's no place like home! I come home anight from a hard day's work Meet six, seven kids with a face full o' dirt And they all go to sleep on the bosom of m'shirt There's no place like home! Home, sweet sweet home, There's no place like home! When the relatives come to visit you There's no place like home! They'll bring their trunks and stick like glue There's no place like home! They'll take all the very best beds you got And you can sleep out in a broken ol' cot With a brother in law who's about half-shot There's no place like home! Home, sweet, sweet Home There's no place like home! (Ready?) When the baby cries out in the middle of the night There's no place like home! Ya search for medicine without any light There's no place like home! Ya jump out o' bed on an upturned tack Come a-slidin' down the stairs in the middle of your back, And your wife hollers out, "Oh hurry up Jack!" (His name is Les...) There's no place like home! Home, sweet sweet home, There's no place like home! With your wife's cold feet in the middle of yer back There's no place like home!

Nostalgia. That's the foundation of heavy metal, in a way, because all the guitar techniques we hear today have evolved from the amazing riffs by Les and Mary.

To anyone watching this in 2024... This week marks 25 years since George and I got together. The average lifespan of a cockatiel is 18-21 years. God, what a blessing he has been in my life! (George is a warrior bird. Completely blind by age 1, he is a veteran of every hurricane to hit SE Louisiana since 1999, including Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike, Isaac, Zeta and Ida. In March of 2016 his home - that was 30" off the ground - was flooded and had 8" of water in it. You can be assured that his safely was a priority!)

Watching Les Paul do pinch harmonics is amazing.
@markgarner27253 ай бұрын
Original poster here: Yes! Les beat so many to the punch, technique-wise.. Jimmy Page, Jeff Beck, EVH, Steven Vai, etc... It isn't well known, but Jimi reached out to Les Paul for tips when Jimi was designing his plans for what would become Electric Ladyland Studio.

Les and Mary look as though they improvised those licks!

The fact that Mary Ford hit the slide lick at 0:46(and the tuning) and the harmonics at 1:21 is amazing. I bet she was a monster back then. Les Paul would know.
@markgarner27254 ай бұрын
Mary was already a guitar player AND a Les Paul fan when Les called her to audition as his singer. In fact, Mary originally thought that call was a prank. Because Les' earliest overdubbed tracks used a single tape deck with two RECORD heads, Mary played much of the rhythm guitar to cut down on how many generations Les needed to finish the track. Mary got no credit for playing guitar, but she arranged the vocals, often a four-part harmony doubled with another four-part. (There were three four-part harmony tracks for a total of twelve individual tracks on 'How High The Moon.') Yes, Les definitely spotted "a monster" talent in Mary Ford. Personally, she's my favorite female singer ever, ahead of even Ella Fitzgerald and Karen Carpenter. And she was pretty, too.

Les Paul was not only an incredible guitar player and innovator, but understood how awesome women are, and it doesn't make you less of a man to acknowledge it.
