If the film was exposed to light, are all the films gonna turn out blank?
@GoneWithFilm7 күн бұрын
Depends on how long the exposure was an how bright the light is. Indoors and if only a few seconds and the back is closed, usually it's only the top sheet that's affected. But if the pack was taken out and left for exposed more than a few seconds, probably the whole pack will be white or have streaks of white.

@GoneWithFilm12 күн бұрын
I already have an SQ6 so I'm not interested in getting a Mini 99. For most people, the Mini Evo would be the better choice because it's a hybrid and much easier to use. While the 99 is a great camera, most users who are not experienced photographers will have a difficulty in mastering the camera.

Loving the chanel and seeing you create and upload more! After reading the comments I was wondering where you were able to find a replacement mirror for the rangefinder in your Pathfinder 110? Is it something you can order, or would you need to cut it yourself? I made the mistake of rubbing off half of the silver in the RF mirror of my Polaroid Model 150 while attempting to restore it, and I also completely threw off the calibration on the rangefinder. It was never the same after that. I am going to be converting my Pathfinder 110 instead, I love this camera. I'm also looking into changing out the shutter assembly or lens later on, lots to tinker with.
@GoneWithFilm18 күн бұрын
I bought my replacement mirrors years ago from Surplus Shed, they used top have them in packs of 10 for cheap. Try looking for old graflex and kalart rangefinders for parts. I also found an old post saying you can order the glass from Edmund Optics.

The SP500 and spotmatics are notorious for having a stuck battery cap because of corossion. Sometimes it's easier remove by removing the whole bottom plate. Good thing the SP500 works without batteries though.

For users of the mini 7+ and mini SE, as of sept 2024, there are now "stick on" closeup lens/selfie mirror accessories that you can buy. These work by sticking on a piece of plastic on the front of your camera so that you can mount the lens. Previously the 7+ and SE had no way of mounting these lenses. Just search for "stick on instax selfie mirror closeup lens".

Thanks so much for this video. Can you explain the steps with the ground glass and finding the focal plane in more detail? How are you able to see the image at 2:52? I'm making one too and it technically works, but the photos are out of focus trash
@GoneWithFilmАй бұрын
The RB67 will focus only correctly at a certain, fixed distance from the lens. Using the ground glass and with the camera lens focused at infinity, wide open aperture and shutter speed set to "B", we open the shutter and view through the lens. At the correct distance from the back of the camera, the image on the ground glass should be focused also at infinity. The metal adapter plate plus the spacer screws put the back at the correct distance. Hope this helps.

That's a common issue on older mini 8s and mini 9s-the shutter is failing. The camera's shutter will need to be disassembled and reassembled. According to one repairman I know, some rubber or soft material inside is causing the shutter to jam or hang up.

I’m mostly concerned with snapping a picture on outdoor walks or hikes which could include sun or be in the woods with shade. Hmm still undecided. I like that I might save on film with the Evo since technically I wouldn’t have to print it out if I didn’t like it but the higher price & battery not able to replace is another thing.
@GoneWithFilmАй бұрын
The analog cameras like the mini 12 work best outdoors so for hikes outside in the woods wouldn't be a problem as long as the light isn't too contrasty. If you're comfortable shooting on film, the savings on the Mini 12 is worth it. I do, however recommend the Evo to most people who have no experience shooting on film. Evo battery life has not been an issue for me but I'm a disciplined shooter-I typically shoot only about 100-200 shots for a typical 3 day vacation. Even if it's non-replaceable, it would take several years for the battery to degrade. The battery technically *can* be replaced if degraded but you'll need some electronics repair skills to replace it..

@GoneWithFilm2 ай бұрын
There's a way to clean the insides of the camera but it has to be partially disassembled to do that. If you're confident that you have the mechanical/tech skills to do that to your camera then here's the short guide to it: 1) Use a guitar pick or old credit card to remove the ejection port cover, the "0" shaped piece of plastic where the film comes out. 2) Once the cover is removed there's a black felt/cloth/rubber material there, clean the gap between the material with cotton buds dampened with a little water. 3) if that still doesn't fix it, the camera will need to be disassembled, front and back covers removed, rollers removed from the assembly and manually cleaned. Then they must be reassembled again.

What does it mean by single use camera? We can use ot only one time or what ?
@GoneWithFilm2 ай бұрын
"Disposable" or "single use" cameras are designed to be used for 1 roll of film. Once the film roll is finished, the camera is then given to the photography lab for developing of the film and recycling of the camera by the manufacturer. The manufacturer is supposed to take them back and reload them and sell them as new. The Funsaver, however, can be reloaded by the end user but it's not an easy process and you'll need a darkroom or film changing bag.

If the film pack is already empty, it's easier to reload the pack if you remove the shiny black tape on the slot that the film comes out of. It is possible to sort of dismantle the whole case-it snaps together but you'll need a lot of force to do it.

@GoneWithFilm3 ай бұрын
Well the foil will need a pretty large voltage and current to to make it hot enough to catch fire-the batteries only provide about 6 volts in total. I wouldn't worry too much about a fire hazard. Using foil is a just a quick hack though and it's always better to use proper springs for a stronger, longer lasting repair.
