I am looking to upgrade to a stainless fermenter. The Brewtools MiniUni 30 is something I am looking at. I brew in my garage (detached) and ferment in my basement. I would like to know if they are portable. I watched a video saying they are not. Too heavy. Thoughts? Thanks!

They can be awkward to carry without the handles on the lid so I’d definitely get those. Before they came out I also was using a rope tied to the mounting point on the back. Empty is fine. It’s carrying 30L of beer that gets hard

I'm trying to get everything more stationary from next year. Brewing in the backyard or bathroom is fun, but I spend too much time putting everything where I need it, an after cleaning put it back again. I like you brewing shed a lot and got high hopes to build something similar. Cheers 🍻

So just to get this right, I got confused after you combined the two batches, you boil the wort after 2 day lacto bacillus exposure? Thanks!

Best recipe grain bill for 5 gallons. 6 lbs. weirman malted wheat, 3.5 lbs Weirman Pilsner malt, .5 lbs Cara wheat. Mash at 146 f for 20 minutes then raise the temp to 152 for 40 minutes. Sparge for 7.5 gallons and boil for 90 minutes. Hallertauer for 8 ibu at 60 minutes, hersbrucker for 4 ibu at 30 minutes. Collect 5.5 gallons in runoff.

I like the setup and design of your brewery a lot! I hate myself for not making something similar. without a fixed place for brewing, especially in winter it kind of sucks. Are you using the 65L Gen4 as HLT/Sparge Unit, or can we expect brewing content with this system in future? Cheers and thanks for sharing all your content. keep up the good work! 🍻🍻

A friend studied brewing at uni and told me oats make a beer thin and oily with bad head so I’ve stopped using oats and now my beer is much better. It also means I don’t even need wheat anymore to correct the issues.

Great inspiration videos for my similar project in my garrage. I'm also considering leading the water outlets via a hose to a nearby flordrain. I will thou also put a shink in for cleaning the accessories. Have you considered a kitchen sink somewhere? I'm also planning on collecting "waste" water from the RO process and a potential condenser into a plastic barrel and using that with a circulation pump to feed the counter flow chiller. Saves some water 😅

Where do you discharge all of your water? Where does it end up. An outside drain, the lawn, the street?

Good question. I dug a French drain about 6 feet from the shed and covered it with rock. Planning to do a brewery garden just below that but waiting for next spring to plant anything

I wild fermented a cider this year, 2004. The wild yeast got it down to 1.0010 sg. It has good flavor but isn't dry enough to be considered done. Copitched with Nottingham to finish.

@@HopsANDgnarly That's funny since in the first 10 seconds you open the door to show a room in disarray and the VO says "It's a complete mess in here". Don't know how that could be construed as clickbait.

Love this kind of stuff. I went thru a somewhat similar process plumbing my garage brewery so I know it takes a ton of planning and work to do it well, it looks like you’ve thought this through nicely. I like your drain set up, it’s smart and totally necessary for a brewtools set up like this. Looks like you got the heights all sorted so it will passively drain out everything. Very nice. Just one little tip, Bobby at brewhardware has a brilliant little device for filling your kettle with an auto shut off so you can let it run and fill overnight.

On my RO system, unknown for yours, is running off power with a pump. What I did was measure the amount of water it would dispense over time, get a WIFI enabled plug and use Google Home to set up a simple script that starts and stops the pump when the amount of water I want has been dispensed. Then I added a cheap WIFI Camera over the Brewtools to make sure water is in the tank. And use the new Brewtools Cloud to start the brewday remotely, such as when I come home from work I can mash in.

Great video - very informative! I'll keep the April 10 date in mind for next year to do a clean cut of all the bines. Question - when is the best time to cut the harvested bines back down to the ground? And how much water should be provided during the winter months? I'm in SoCal - we don't have much of a regular rainy season. Some years cool and wet, others dry as a bone.
