I think the Joker must have been betrayed several times and in many ways. And he abandoned trying to fit in because nobody ever really does. He sees the groups and fitting in and structure of society as something imposed, a disguise they wear for convenience or out of fear. He sees himself as brave and visionary, the only sane man in a world of slaves and idiots and he just wants to set them free. Deep down though he does want to belong and that’s why he likes Batman so much and why it saddens him to be reminded how alone and strange he is. Probably he was a very intelligent child forced to live among very ordinary ones. It’s sort of the goth thing. The nerds want to put in make up and look scary. Only he couldn’t fit into the goths either. He became the clown instead. Sort of an upside down goth. He wanted to be someone no one else would be because he felt that’s what ge already was and who everyone really is. He hates being described really, being told what he is. He doesn’t want anyone saying who or what he is. He tells them who they are. He stands at the top level and looks down and judges and classifies and he is deeply offended that these animals would dare to think they can understand him. Only Batman he thinks understands. Batman gets it. Batman treats people like the animals they are. He rules through fear and violence. I think the joker saw that and said, “Well yeah, of course, that’s exactly what you’d need to do to get any kind of order in the world. Finally someone who’s willing to admit it!”

Excellent commentary I used to like Dr Phil but I am growing to hate him, especially since he’s buying into Donald Trump’s rhetoric

you're factually incorrect when you say "in real life would a couple of killings spark a revolution, no", and please comment section dont start arguing debating all your different programmed facts, but when george flloyd had that encounter which led to his death, no one knew recording him and that police officer would turn into global protests where they took over 5 blocks in portland orgean and burned police stations down, where in sweeden even that were burning indipendent buisnesses, so its very possible for something like that

so someting i missed in S1 is nate saying he's terrified of aging, when ted asked if he likes to soak in water. which is why his hair turns grey, it's bc he was dying it black this whole time. but he stops dying it when he's called wonder "kid". so much is said that seems like nothing or a throw away joke but most of the lines in this show comes back or has more meaning. such great writing

Book is not far off from the movie and some have said the movie is actually better than the book. I read the book back in 1992. It was a part of Novella called Different Seasons (I still own the hardback version) which has 4 different stories, 3 of which where made into moves. Apt Pupil (Apt Pupil) which is macabre and a bit hard to read at times do to the subject matter. I've never seen the movie. Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption (Shawshank Redemption) which is my favorite story of the 4. The Body (Stand by Me), which is very different from the movie and my 2nd favorite. Manny people who have read the story and seen the movie prefer the movie. The Breathing Method, which is my least favorite of the 4 and when I re-read the novella a few years back I ended not reading this story again.

I just want to say that people didn’t « rarely wash » in the old days, that’s a misconception. Full baths were less common but they would wash themselves everyday every morning, first thing when they woke up, they had water and a washcloth ready.

I don't like Catelyn, she has an irrational fear and hatred of Jon. Under normal westerosi circumstances she would be justified in her fear of Jon and/or his children being a danger to her children's political security however the north is different. The north would NEVER support a bastard that has not been legitimized over a true born Stark, second when Jon joined the watch she continued to fear about his potentially taking the north from her children even though he's sworn to never hold land or a crown etc and no one in the north would help a deserter of the night's watch, third when Robb decides to name Jon his heir because as far as anyone knows Robb has no living siblings except for Sansa who is married to the very same man that Catelyn took captive because she believed he tried to kill Bran starting this war in the first place Catelyn STILL is against Jon and suggests random cousins who are southrons who no northman would follow and would have no understanding of the north and no love of the north. Robb was right to name Jon as his heir considering the situation and he was right to not give the north to Sansa and therefore giving the north to the family who killed his father. I don't think Catelyn ever really understood the north and their values, if she did then she would have known that Jon was never a threat to her kids

Ned raised the morally best character in the entire series, Jon Snow. Jon follows Ned's examples of mercy sparing Ygritte, refusing to murder an innocent old man, giving asylum to refugees fleeing from ice demons, protecting innocent people as best he can, trying to learn about others and their culture and their strengths, trying to learn if wights can be reasoned with or not. All of that is thanks to Ned

What your dad needs to realise is it's the victims of the abuse that are important and not controversy or Saville himself. You have done a great analysis of his personality and hit on major points that other profeesionals have hit on and exposed in their view on his personality traits. It's good for you to do this in your line of work. It's also necessary for everyone out here to be able to spot these types of sick individuals in the future whether from a possible victim point of view or an on looker who can expose them and help to put an end to their behaviour. Thank you for the podcast and keep up the good work!

Sansa was my favorite character in the books because of the topics you covered here. Having so many fans outright hate her was baffling, to me. GRRM doesn't shy away from the fact that survivors of abuse heal in messy and complex ways, and her character arc shows that beautifully. It frustrates me to no end that other chatacters are lauded for how they survive (Tyrion drinks himself into oblivion, Arya becomes more ruthless than the people who harmed her, etc.) and yet Sansa's method of coping is torn to shreds. She is a young girl survived multiple horrific events and was given no reprieve for years. The fact that she has come through it with her sense of self not fully broken is incredible. In the show when she tells Arya she would have never survived Kings Landing I know she was right, most people wouldn't have survived. I myself lived through significant trauma as a child and young adult and I could see so much of myself in her chapters. Becoming separate from my abuse by ameliorating my abusers was a survival tactic, and it worked. I cannot hate myself for finding a solution as a child, and neither can Sansa.

Amazing. 10 seconds in and I know this video has nothing of value to say and you are definitely going to be wrong about everything else. "It's fine" What part of this shit is fine? Do you know why Drinker and Mauler are so successful and channels like your are not? They are honest woth their reviews and don't exist to be contrarians.

Well as I say, it's not a movie I'd pay money to see, it's on par with the crystal skull...but it's hardly the absolute car crash Drinker and others make it out to be. There's a big difference between criticism and sensationalism. I set out to criticise this film in meaningful ways, where Drinker deliberately bent the reality of the film and interpreted aspects that he's just wrong about, in order to attack it. That's just not meaningful criticism that adds anything. Drinker isn't wrong to call it a bad movie, and I fully empathise and agree with why people have become cynical to Hollywood. The Drinker is wrong to replace criticism with strawman attacks. That's my argument. I don't think he's honest with his reviews at all, nor do I think I'm being contrarian but I can understand why (with a title and thumbnail like this) you assume that's what this video is about

I thought I’d gotten past a lot of trauma. I’ve always been able to consume media surrounding hard topics and keep them separate and disconnected from myself. For the first time, I had to turn off a show thanks to a deep trigger I’ve never had occur like this. And it was this show. With the scene where Martha starts grabbing him.

When the show was going on I always argued that Danny was a villain from the beginning. The audience only saw her as heroic because she was brutalizing "bad" people.

The only thing I'd disagree with is that I think Sansa is more like Ned and Arya is more like Catelyn. I think Sansa is a Ned who has learned from his mistakes and Arya is more brash and i think Catelyn is more like that.
