God bless you! I’ve been running back and forth to the doctor for Vertigo symptoms for several months. My ear has been thumping and buzzing continually. I did this procedure one time and already felt relief for the first time in weeks. I’ve been praying God would give me wisdom since the doctor has been unable to help me. He led my path to you. Thank you so much!

1:28 Why did you only strip up and not down? Does it make a difference whether you strip up or down?
@MassageSloth
@MassageSloth 8 күн бұрын
That's a good question. I strip up because it's easiest for my body and hands: dragging toward my body is easy, while angling a tool to travel from toe to heel would take some reconfiguring of my tools, and I'd have to stabilize the foot with one of my hands. Dragging toward me includes some free stabilization on the dorsal surface of the foot, it feels easy, and it feels satisfying to the client rather than fiddly or shaky. That said! If you've got some good solid stuff that heads in the other direction (maybe a fist on the plantar surface and a cradling palm on the dorsum), I got nothing against that at all.

I wanted to ask you why I feel like coughing when my fingers reach the end of my Larynx? Thanks
@MassageSloth
@MassageSloth 12 күн бұрын
My best guess is this: Your cough reflex is (partly) a response to what your nervous system is sensing in your throat. If it senses irritation, it prompts a cough. So, if your myofascial release routine is prompting that sensation, you might choose to be more gentle and more gradual, or you might simply skip parts that seem to be provoking a throat tickle sensation. Something to know here is that you're not doing any harm, you're just creating a sense of stretch that your nervous system classifies as "maybe a problem? We should probably cough." As your nervous system turns the volume knob down - as your sensitivity reduces over time - you might find that you can work in those areas that were previously provocative without a problem. Let this be something that you play with, and as you do so, realize that you can be so gentle with yourself and still get results.

Nice to finally come across your channel, Do you have videos for helping with hyper mobility?
@MassageSloth
@MassageSloth 12 күн бұрын
Not yet, but I'm thinking on it! As someone with a lot of hypermobility myself, I've got some tricks up my sleeve for making such clients more comfortable during massage. I don't have any tips for counteracting hypermobility (that's more in the realm of PT, mindfulness, etc), but we can definitely work in a way that makes shoulder joints feel safe during traction, prevents patella displacement, etc. As usual, your best resource is the client in front of you, and the question, "have you ever had pain during a massage, or discomfort from lying on the table?"

I took a JFB class this weekend and was very put off by the approach in many ways. Your approach has always felt very patient-centric and curious, and doesnt attempt to defy the laws of gravity, as they do "unwindings". I know every modality will have some degrees of success, but I dont feel like his approach to MFR is going to be the end all be all for me. I have had amazing results in my career, and I was jostled by hearing him basically belittle all other modalities and toss them to the wayside. Okay, I think I am done ranting. 😅
@MassageSloth
@MassageSloth 12 күн бұрын
I have to restrain myself from such ranting as well 😁 I find that lots of speeds and durations can have powerful effects, and that many other modalities are useful and enjoyable. We've got a whole grab bag here, so let's have some fun with it!

I am insanely ticklish.. I've always been terrified of massage but a friend got me a gift card and I don't want it to ho to waste. I just want to say, once you trigger the ticklishness it makes other spots respond too that weren't before. It makes everything on high alert.

I can appreciate there are many different types/techniques of MFR. I trained back in 2019 MFR ( my techniques are very similar to yours). I've had some great results with clients who have Fibromyalgia, CFS and stored emotional trauma. I love your videos as I can really relate to them and understand. Love the explanations and love the fact I can share some of your techniques with clients too. Your teaching is perfect for someone like me who needs that little bit extra time to process the information and knowledge. I've commented before how mindfully you demonstrate in your videos...never in a rush..truly in the moment! Absoloutley perfect! Thank you.

So you like to start a massage in the supine position? When I was in school I liked to do this too but I have a demo for a chain spa and I’m not sure if they expect it to start in prone.
