Why am I having so much trouble understanding what “drop your hips” means in practice? 😭

Ian - love your tutorials. 😊 I plan on attending your Connecticut myofascial release session. Do you think that deep tissue techniques will come up in that session? I think they are related (or you have basically taught us this 😂)
Where are you located? Just wondering if you were close to schedule an appt

Communication is always key Have to communicate with the amount of pressure the clients is asking for also u can use other tools elbows, knuccles, thumbs , palms its alot of ways to apply pressure

love the techniques used for the neck massage, but i was hoping to see more "deep" pressure technique to use on clients that want that pressure (the ones that can barely feel pressure). I can give the pressure they need but it takes a toll on my fingers/hand, I wanted to see if there was a technique with forearm/elbow (if even possible since the difficulty on doing in that area)

I believe that lighter, more brushing massages should preceed deeper tissue massage. And this will help create better circulation and less sensitivity and greater receipt. Then to work a light medium level of pressure over the 5 natural contours of the foot. I think there to be a world of biorhythymical correctness beyond knowledge and performed in the intuitive senses. That we are not so much trying to aim down goals but see synchrony of a system with its simultaneous arena. And gently massaging the overall muscle tissue preceeding the organs corresponding point, will in turn better it's condition in it's place of rest. But I didn't share my point of view because I thought you were wrong. A person only adds more to projects they did find more believable. So I added to your video. Not everyone else's.

Scar tissue work is so valuable. Im a massage therapist in Canada, and when I acquired several stitches in my hand due to a dog bite, I got to work immediately after the stitches and scabbing were gone. Without working on my own scar tissue in my hand, in the early stages, I would have had a reduced range of motion, etc. I wish other health care professionals knew how important this work is in the rehabilitation process.

Used this right after being worked on by a devotee of the Traeger method. I actually duck grip the tissue on either side of the sacrum and make small, rapid shakes. My wife's favourite part of me working on her. Appreciate the different aspects of this method demonstrated here.

I have frozen shoulder and I’m not sure my arm would lay comfortably by my side like this
@MassageSloth15 күн бұрын
That's a good point. Many of these techniques can be done with the arm in a different position (e.g., hanging off in a T-pose while face down, hand resting on the abdomen when face up, elbow propped up on a pillow), and especially for a client with frozen shoulder, their comfort is paramount. I find that I can get a lot done without ever needing to challenge a client's comfortable range of motion, even if it's quite limited.

The techniques are good, but I just wonder by engaging those motion on our arms will we get UB pain if we do massage on several clients per day?
@MassageSloth22 күн бұрын
My secret here is to rarely, if ever, haul myself up using my back and hip muscles. If you see me leaning way over, that's because I'm pouring my bodyweight into my client (often distributed between two contacts). As I stand, I get my hips under me, and I'll assist the movement by pressing the client away with my arms. Basically, I think that a little bit of a hunched posture can be fine, as long as that bent back is getting to be relaxed. Something that I say to students is, "I'm currently burning 0 calories."

So apply lest pressure in first hand, and lil more with mother hand?
@MassageSloth27 күн бұрын
The mother hand should always be firm and confident, but you might choose to let it be fairly passive and rather light, while the other hand is the star of the show, offering deep and specific pressure with grouped finger pads (for instance). You might choose to give both hands similar pressure, perhaps using the mother hand as a spreading tool, dragging fascia away from a fist travelling up the spinal erectors. In other words, I don't really have a specific prescription for how much pressure to use with the mother hand. Let it be firm and broad and comforting, and otherwise you can play with different pressure levels and different levels of activity versus passivity. The easiest way to get a quick handle on this would be to grab another massage therapist (or experienced client) and say, "hey I want to experiment with adding a second contact to some of my techniques." Good luck, have fun!
