Thanks for the comment. I think they are different enough that not really comparable for overall verses, since they don’t sit in the same category. I’d want SP for mega groveley stuff and Revo Max for Stomach Hugh and above. If head high and above Revo Max for sure and if it’s steeper. SP can shred up to head high - if fatter high tide SP. They have some overlap but surf different. If your more of a beginner or intermediate too SP - Revo Max is way less volumed so you gotta go big in height with it if your lower in skill level - which is fine but twin fin also trickier/less stable than SP fin options.

Just came across your review as I have been interested in the Revo Max. I went to my local surf shop to check out the 7'0" version......I havent ridden a board below 7'6" in the past 15 years as I am an older surfer with declining skills and I have never ridden a twin fin so I was a little skeptical. But after watching your review I think Im going to pull the trigger on the 7'0". Great review....thanks for sharing!!

Thanks Kevin - I appreciate it. Stoked for you and the 7’0 with 55 liters sounds like a winner. I’d love to try it at that size - I’d suggest the Large Tomos that come with it. Even if you’re lighter more hold prob better if not use to twin fin. Look forward to see how it goes for you.

I wonder how this would compare to the S Boss in larger sizes, like the 6'2. Which would be more versatile and what conditions would work best for each.
@TravisVarga
@TravisVarga 5 күн бұрын
Yea interesting at similar volume. I reckon Revo Max is easier to surf and (as long as you kinda know how to ride twin fin) turn a little easier. S Boss (never ridden) seems more super high performance and still bladey even at 6’2. I did feel an S Boss under arm this weekend and felt great. Platypus nose on the Max makes it grovel better I’d bet and be slightly more versatile for smaller surf and flat sections in weaker waves. If super chop tho more fins with S Boss would help. Volcanic Ibolic of Max plows thru chunder tho anyway. Cheers.

@minniman24
@minniman24 11 күн бұрын
I haven’t had the chance to surf the Revo Max (yet 🤔), but I do own the Machadocado and it is a fantastic grovel to mid range size board. Looking at the Revo max fins that Thomo created for this board and I could see swapping them out for traditional raked keels to stiffen it up in the solid stuff (keeping the recommended fins for small to medium days). It looks like it could be a really versatile board….. maybe up the size a little bit??
@Crusifizerr
@Crusifizerr 11 күн бұрын
@minniman24 thanks for the reply mate! What's your dimensions and your level? As well as your Cado size?
@TravisVarga
@TravisVarga 11 күн бұрын
Yes what @minniman24 said. The Machadocado feels more bloaty (in a good way) and much thicker rails. Revo Max stays super thin and flat. And because it’s a snowboard it keeps the volume without having to be thicc. The Revo is better in bigger waves, Cado maybe slight advantage in these types of waves. Just cause it packs more volume in general. But I like these twin fins more than Cado stock board fin setup. Me, pick one just one? I just don’t think I can haha let me think about that. For a beginner/intermediate I’d recommend an oversized Machadocado - 6ft or 6’2. I don’t know if the Revo Max is good for beginners, but if you go big better than small. Other issue is generally twin fins arnt the best for that stage in your learning - tri and quad fin setups provide the better hold you need. Thanks for your comment and hope that helps. I rode the 5’10 Machadocado also (I’m 5’10, 172lbs).
@TravisVarga
@TravisVarga 11 күн бұрын
Thanks for the input. I def agree - I surfed it in bigger waves today and even large uprights I believe would be great. It didn’t feel slidey tho - and I can’t ride keels for a dam. Board enters its second stage in bigger surf - fast, almost fast as the mashup.

@@Crusifizerr sure, 6’3” 220lb, 25+ years exp. I’ve got the 6’3” cado and find that it works in a variety of waves up to 6ft.Because of its moderate rocker and large tail surface area it’s only Achilles is super sucky beach breaks (at least in standard configuration - I found it tightened up adequately with the AM2 fins that day). It definitely loves 3-4ft wally point breaks or spots where there’s flat sections that you need to drive through. That Revo Max has me wondering though! It really looks like a versatile board that you could size up a bit then just use different fins for different conditions (kind of like a non-traditional 1 board quiver).

Thanks mate, stoked I could spark your interest in it. The 6’0 would be great for you (think I already said that somewhere else? Haha) Yeah the board is super fun in small/medium surf - as long as it’s a lil somethin. It’s so flat and thin which is cool. I wanna try a Boss Up too but not too interested for some reason - I’m stoked on Ibolic tho so I’m down. I like this 6’3 length is sad part, I don’t wanna go longer anymore unless longboard now lol. I rode it in bigger gnar waves yesterday and glassy big surf today, and finally ‘almost’ slid out once or twice (but didn’t) - but I could tell the board can handle bigger surf and it worked well - also that’s just where the large fines will do better. Perhaps the bigger the Revo Max, the better it goes in overhead surf and above.

@ Tomo’s other shapes are all “swear by-able”. Never got my hands on a Revo proper, but the Cymatic, Evo, and Omni are all fantastic. Go as small as you can, especially with the Evo. Thanks for the comment. This is the 6’3. Yea with me being 5’10 172lbs I sized it perfectly. I wouldn’t want any less float and at that size it’s kinda a daily driver, solid groveler - but if it starts firing, the max will shred. Board only sometimes feels ‘long’ when the darn pad messes me up (I hate pads) but you can turn it without having to be all the way back. I’d go no pad at first. 6’6 would be fun - if your larger or want it to be more or a proper mid length - the 6’3 doesn’t feel like a mid length to me, it feels like a 5’10 at times.

Loving the channel. Can you give a quick numerical comparison on these two boards - 1-5? 5 being the best. Categories would be: paddling, speed on the wave, turning, and ease of use. Also best wave range for the REvo Max - 2-8 ft is a huge range. thanks
@TravisVarga
@TravisVarga 5 күн бұрын
Thanks for the appreciation. Ok the scale is tricky to do in comment form but I’d say both boards are a 4ish on each. Revo Max I think paddles better and turns better, Seaside & Beyond can go a bit faster and maybe easier to use since the quad is quite stable. I’d go Revo Max but at these bigger lengths I like a twin fin and I like the nose of Revo Max more. Revo Max wave height - I’d say wave height 2.5ft - 7ft. It does seem large range, but it grovels good. And then it does well in big waves and is almost made for them. But it gets too big and the twins do get a little slidey.

Copy that - I’m riding the 6’3 currently and I’m similar in weight (few pounds less) but I like more volume in my boards. For what you’re used to, the 6’0 makes more sense. I’d argue the 6’3 will get you into waves a bit better and go a little faster, but considering you like 29-30 liters and the 6’0 is 31 liters, that’s the board for you.
