Hi. Great video. Do you know why the down line beside the tunnel is electrified but the up line is not. Always puzzles me
@werringtonjunction5 күн бұрын
Thank you Owen for watching. The line you ask about is the Down Stamford to Oakham, Melton and Leicester and it is also doubles as the Down Slow of the East Coast Main Line from Peterborough Station to Helpston Junction. A glance at google maps satellite view may help.
@owengriffiths63835 күн бұрын
Thanks for that. I always thought it was odd there was a single line next to the fast lines. Used to live near Sleaford and enjoy the container trains on the station avoiding line. Now in Scotland next to the old paddy line ( Carlisle to Stranraer).
@werringtonjunction4 күн бұрын
@@owengriffiths6383 Werrington Junction has been re-modelled many times over the years. Here is the layout in 1968 signalbox.org/~SBdiagram.php/?id=%20716 The left edge is Hurn Road and the right edge is Cock Lane. The Down Goods is now the Up Slow (ECML) throughout to Peterborough (bi-directional from P'boro to Werrington Junction). The Up Coal and Up Goods no longer exist (they were where the silver van was running in the video). The Down Slow was also taken out as far as Helpston and the Down Stamford doubled as the ECML Down Slow.

Yes, there are a few of these type of workings between Doncaster and Peterborough and vice versa. The locos get tagged onto normal workings to get to the GBRf maintenance depots at either Doncaster (Roberts Road) or New England without having to create a new path in the timetable. You have probably seen in past videos of a few tagged onto the midday Middleton Towers sand train from Peterborough to Doncaster. Happy new year Tom.

@werringtonjunctionАй бұрын
Not sure what the wreath was for Tom, unless it was just a Christmas wreath. Both steam trains to York were advertised as The White Rose to York Christmas Market. Those 47's on the St. Albums train was probably the fastest I have seen a train travel through that junction, the one on the rear sure did lean and wobble quite a lot.

@michaelchester8997Ай бұрын
A lot of slow running,any reason?
@christophermonkАй бұрын
Problems with signaling systems I think.
@christophermonkАй бұрын
From above: 'After about ten minutes of waiting everything came to a standstill as a complete signal failure occurred on the East Coast Main Line and Stamford Lines between Hurn Road and Cock Lane. With all signals at red, trains were eventually moved very slowly block by block using radio communication.'
@werringtonjunctionАй бұрын
It was in the description Michael, as Christopher pointed out. Rumour has it that it was a broken wire in the lineside signal control box at Hurn Road. I think they did quite a good job of keeping the trains running.

Thank you for watching Neil. The top and tailed on 4L87 at 6:00 and 26:30 and 4E95 at 15:30 is due no run round availablity at Felixstowe north yard since a container train derailed and ripped out track there a few months ago.

Hi. Great video. Can I ask what kit you use? Am just starting out on filming & wondering what best to use. Cheers
@werringtonjunctionАй бұрын
Thank you for watching Chris. The kit is an ancient, now discontinued Canon 200D (DSLR) + 18-55 and 55-250 lenses bought second hand off ebay about six years ago. The only downsides apart from it being old technology is you have to manaully zoom the lenses in and out (gets a bit jerky at times with unsteady hands) rather than having a motorised zoom like a dedicated video camera and my camera does not do 4K video if you need that. Whatever route you go, get a camera that has a fully adjustable flip out screen.

@wereington junction, video time 19:34 mins, just looked on streetmaps and found where you stand on streetmaps it shows houses and overgrown trees even though it was 15 years ago, where you go, on hurn rd can you confirm if you can see the trains
@werringtonjunction2 ай бұрын
Yes, I can confirm that, the video shows it! It is google street view that you are probably looking at which is out of date, Openstreetmap is up to date. The satellite view on google maps shows you the area, (Hurn Road, Werrington Parkway dual carraigeway and Lincoln Road), the street view shows the old Hurn Road which goes under the Werrington Parkway, this is now the railway with a footpath from Lincoln Road to the bend in Hurn Road running alongside the railway. Access to Hurn Road is now off the dual carraigeway of Werrington Parkway.

Great vid Mick. Just shows how important it was spending the money on the dive under. Not just hugely beneficial to freight but also passenger
@werringtonjunction2 ай бұрын
Without doubt the dive under has been a great asset which has given greater flexibility at Werrington Junction. The sales speil that it would eliminate freight having to cross the ECML wasn't wholly accurate as GBRf built a (very welcome) maintenance and repair facility on 'the wrong side' of the ECML putting more pressure on New England Junction. What we need now is the Ely upgrade to start so we can get more freight our way.

Hello Mick, I have been on leave from last Wednesday onwards. I have been combining birdwatching, trainspotting, and walking in order to get fit for my visit to my daughter for Christmas. She and her husband live in West Yorkshire, just outside the Peak District National Park. I have built up my distances and hours gradually. I did nearly 18 miles on foot last Sunday walking across to Ferry Meadows for Tornado on the Nene Valley Railway. I am hoping this gets me fit for our Boxing Day walk in the hills! I saw a double-header of Class 69's coming out of the dive-under heading south on one walk. There was a photographer out in the field near the Hurn Road bridge with an enormous monopod. I hope you are well too. Cheers, Chris.
