This wonderful music (starting at about 11'30" of this performance) was NEVER put to a better use than at the end of the 1953 Warner Bros. cartoon "Bully for Bugs." kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooO0mWObj9SjkMUfeature=shared

2:46- one of the most compelling, inexplicable and engrossing phrases I've ever heard, and I rarely listen to any Wagner. There's something about that few seconds in the chord change...😮

In the last 2 decades of the 19th century you can feel the mood [or Zeitgeist] of the ambitious German Empire in the music of Wagner & Liszt; loud, thrusting & aspiring. In contrast, the music of the British Empire, in the form of composers like Sir Edward Elgar is calm & complacent... ...it's no wonder World War One was just around the corner!

Hannity is so low-energy through all this, meeting everything ambitious with tiny toy conversations. He represents the old Republican party. They're out. Done.

This music saved my life. That is not hyperbole. Desperately ill in hospital for many months, my wife would, every day, record some of my vinyl onto cassette. I had a Walkman in hospital, and music was my only distraction. I had reached a point where I really didn't care whether I lived or died, then, one night, I played this. The strength and determination it gave me was such that I cannot listen to it, thirty years later, without crying. It may be the only Wagner piece that I've not seen performed live. I would embarrass myself.

I can fully understand what you experienced. Many years ago I did a computer course in London (Not that I ended up working in that field). I had being staying in digs in Wandsworth but had to leave there half way through the course. En route for a new bedsit in Holloway I was feeling a bit low, when suddenly passing an open window I heard this music coming through probably from a radio. I recognised it immediately and somehow I thought that life was not so bad and I suddenly felt optimistic about the future.

This is the version which I heard the first and I love it so much that when I listen to another version without the lectern falling, there is something missing. Sorry, that sound became part of the music, for me.

Onde again, I revisited this Video featuring the fabulous -- and yet, humble and unassuming -- Paul Potts. His moving words at the outset, the fantastic performance, the audience's reaction spellbound by his words and awesome rendition... ...electrifying moments of the utmost significance ! Every single person left the Auditorium enchanted by that Magic evening. Thank you for this Video.

If you're going to listen to Wagner, be sure to listen to anything conducted by the inspirational Klaus Tennstedt. Of all the various performances and interpretations, only those by Maestro Tennstedt embody the original majestic vision of Wagner. His timing is counter intuitive, but absolutely impeccable.
