I had to Fuji X100V i sold it to my friend. It also became a camera i wanted to use but didn't need. I feel most people like my friend only used his iPhone to take photos so Fuji has been amazing for him. I use to own Cannon and Nikon during the DSLR days and now Sony. I could not get over slow and sluggish this x100v is. I wanted this for photos of my son and family but honestly ive missed more moments with this camera then sony. My son could be running in park or going down a slide any fast activity i can literally just point and shoot and it focuses on his face immediately taking multiple shots on the way down the slide or playing ball. This was extremely valuable for me. Fuji is too slow for my situation.

I definitely wish more manufactures would produce cameras like the X100VI...especially in full frame. I feel like Sony came close with the A7CR but it just lacked the hardware to make it feel special even though the internals are perfect. Nikon tried with the ZF but the internals lacked and they didn't have a great lens to pair with it. I'm a huge fan of the camera, it just ended up being amazing for a very specific use case I rarely found myself in

Well, not many people have 20 different cameras on their shelf. Getting rid of a poor excuse of a camera is a good idea. No camera has soul, it is a machine. The soul is you, the photographer. When you take a picture, you should not dwell on the make or brand but your skill as a photographer. No camera is going to get on a trip and trip on over to a location and start taking pictures. You have to do it. I have a few cameras over the decades. Notables are my two Nikons, the F2a and FE2. Both beautiful works of art. But they are machines. Also have a few Sony cameras, all beautiful but they too are machines. Stop with the shilling, remember photography is an art. No camera is really going to make you take good pictures, it's all up to you.
@learningcameras2 күн бұрын
Photography is a uniquely creative process and sometimes stripping away some of the "machine" part of the camera in favor of the art aspect actually works...or at least that was my hope. At the end of the day, it was a beautiful camera I just rarely used
@kjs_photo5383Күн бұрын
It's limiting to think that the destination can be the only goal and not the trip, as well. Machines are different. Some are fun to use. Some aren't. Taking 'good' pictures is certainly one goal in photography, but it's not the only one. I shoot a pair of Sony A1's for professional work. They produce great results, they're capable of making 'art', but they're not fun to shoot with, and I definitely wouldn't say they're beautiful. On my own time, I shoot my X100VI for fun.
@learningcamerasКүн бұрын
@@kjs_photo5383 Agree completely with this...I guess I don't shoot as much for fun these days haha. Every shoot feels like work, something I might want to leverage for work, want the best quality possible, or at least consider using as content so shooting purely for the fun of it hasn't been top of mind as much as it probably should
@DieHardEddieEdwards2 күн бұрын
I love mine. I take pictures of my kid with it. I think part of the mentality with getting this camera is that you're not going to pixel peep and scrutinize image quality with it. I throw on some fun recipes and I take pictures of my kids where the subject is more meaningful than the image quality. I shoot in JPG, which I obviously would never do with other cameras. I think it depends totally on what you're shooting. For me, I love clinically sharp looking photos for work, but that doesn't matter to me when I'm shooting for fun.

@learningcamerasКүн бұрын
If you're shooting photos, there isn't much of a difference other than the added size but I would definitely consider fazing out your EF lenses quickly. You might find the old EF lenses a bit jumpy with autofocus which wasn't an issue with a DSLR where you were looking through an optical viewfinder but for mirrorless cameras where autofocus is performed live and where you see the actual footage while focusing, it can make a big difference. RF lenses are optimized for this new style of autofocus and higher resolution cameras so those are the 2 big areas they are usually better in. Canon actually makes a really nice adapter but it will shift the weight of the lens forward and add some bulk

Would you rather no one make content until we've been able to have the camera for a few months and then you would be stuck relying on the Sony BS PR videos that they release for your info? But this video was made immediately after the announcement...there will be a followup "review" with my experiences using this in the field for my shoots after several months which I hope you watch

What??? You do know a review is literally defined as "examine or assess (something) formally with the possibility or intention of instituting change if necessary". There are 2 reasons for this...one is to facilitate progress from manufactures, and the other is because if you're buying a $6k camera, I think it's good to know just how good it is relative to other cameras and what could be better since there is more than 1 camera in the world. Then you can decide if you care. I'm "satisfied" with many cameras out there, but there's still have room for improvement and any reviewer should point that out

I just ordered one directly from Sony. With my military discount and points back from my last purchase I payed $850 from Sony new with a 2 year warranty. The reason I got this is because I am new and starting out. The first lens I got was the FE 20mm f1.8 G from all the reviews it is supposed to be a really good wide angle prime. I opted for the 24-50 because it covers the next 3 prime lenses, it is a small lens and less $ than buying the 3 primes 24-35-50... The image quality of both these lenses I got are always compared to the GM lenses that are twice or more than twice the price. So for being new to these detachable lens cameras I think I did pretty well. The camera I chose is the a7c-ii for the compact size and the sensor is supposed to be great for night time photography. I will be taking pictures of the Milky Way, Nebulas, planets, and the moon. My next lens will be Sigma 150-600mm F5/-6.3 DG DN for moon photos and birds in my trees out back. Cheers~

@learningcameras6 күн бұрын
I don't think it's worth the swap unless you absolutely need a smaller camera. There are a few new features on the A7CII but the A7IV has better hardware and can be used for more professional work
@kevinheg88146 күн бұрын
@ okay thanks! I think the same way. I want to upgrade for the AI AF, but all photostores told me the af is only a little bit better in subject recognition and not better in tracking. Than it’s not a real win, because the recognition on the A7IV is already awesome. Thanks mate, you helped me, I will keep the A7IV! 😊
@learningcameras17 сағат бұрын
@@kevinheg8814 Yeah, the main AF advantage is that when multiple subjects are in the frame, it's easier for the A7CII to know which one is the right one. It can better distinguish a human from a tree in other words or a bird from a dog but the A7IV is already so good in this respect, the difference ends up being minor and only applicable in a few cases

You can still get that look on the iphone 16 pro but it's obviously fake bokeh. But for photos, it usually does a good job these days and you can adjust it further in post which is a big advantage. How would you compare this (the 16-35 f2.8 GM II) to the 24-50 f2.8 G. Trying your best to put aside the extra 8mm on the wide end for the GM v's the extra 15mm on the tight end for the G, how do you rate them pound for pound - especially given that the 24-50 is c.100g lighter (so even better for travel?) and c.50% cheaper than the 16-35 (so massively better for your wallet?). I'm torn!? Help!
@learningcameras6 күн бұрын
That 8mm on the wide end is a massive difference in viewing angle compared to the 15mm on the tight end. With the 16-35, you can always crop to create a similar frame to the 24-50mm but there is nothing you can do in a single image to make a lens look wider. So if there is a chance you would want the wider lens, I tend to suggest going in that direction. But yes, the 16-35 F2.8 GMII is a higher end lens so it's heavier, larger, and not quite as travel friendly so that's the tradeoff
@lammartland6 күн бұрын
@@learningcameras Thank you. Right now I've invested in both and am going to see if the 24-50mm just sits in my bag, never seeing the light of day or whether... as you've alluded to... sometimes I find its weight advantage to be important enough for me to have it in the bag as an option. For now though, the 16-35 GM II is mounted on my A7CR and I'm thinking that's going to be my daily carry.

An improved version of the fan grip would help. A major source of heat in the camera is the SSD drive aka CF Card (they are essentially M2230 cards in a removeable case). The PCIe bus could be extended via cable through the external power door to a modified grip. In the modified grip would have a second compartment that would hold a standard SSD or even multiple CF Slots. That compartment could handle cooling of the drive separately. It would help remove a major heat source from the camera and keep it cooler for longer.
