Hi Nick, Thanks for uploading all your very useful vidoes. In this one I notice you didn't use any silicon/sealant, do you recommend we shouldn't use silicone around the various bits you installed. Thanks

Hi rsj thanks for the comment, generally when installing brand new toilets etc I don't use any silicon, this is because everything is nice and clean and the rubber washers are brand new and in good condition and will create a good seal. However.... If Im fitting a new part to and old fitting (New toilet fill valve to and old cistern for example) Ill put a bead of silicon around 5mm around the rubber washer as this will help create a good seal on the old cistern. Only other thing to add is in some situations the silicon can act as a lubricant and lead to over tightening the fitting and causes the cheaper plastic fill valves to crack/break (although its rare). So to answer your question is sometimes I do if its old fittings but generally I don't if its new fittings. Hope that helps 👍
