That bannister thing is to gently tap with a hammer to level the type in the form which is secured in the chase. The end pieces on the rollers are trucks. Lucky that you have good rollers.Wooden spoons are very often used to burnish the back of paper on an inked linoleum cut. The little clippy things are registration pins for holding the paper in the same place each time you print.

just had 1 come today, it'll be a couple of wks before i get a motor and set up the type of stand i wish to have. Do you have a video of how it should look from behind prior to setting the fly wheel in place? thinking i need to align the cam axles in the back but i could be wrong.

Any idea how this technique would turn out as war horns? Perhaps if the cardboard was saturated and cured in resin after the horns are made they may have a good tone for blowing?

I can at least say one reason a horn video would be extra popular: Have been trying to find nice horns for Puck (A Midsummer Night's Dream) and practically all the horns I could get were "demonic" black or red. When all you want is a nice little trickster jester guy who is somewhere between a satyr and a forest fairy, those "alluring" "demonic" horns are just wrong and vulgar. (To my mind, if I should make Ole Nick himself, his horns would still be a natural ivory-to-earth-brown, not black or red). So even for someone like me who is not a real cosplayer, just *very* enthusiastic about halloween and carnaval ("fastelavn", where I come from), horns are something you end up having to make yourself. Well - from one frustrated fancy-dress enthusiast I can just say thank you for your thorough and simple explanation. I think I can do this. **** Actually, a video on how best to make them stick somewhere on your head without being glued to your hair would be quite welcome.

I enjoyed the video. Yet, I'm still frustrated. I will try to use the proper terms. I made sure the crank nob is at 12 o'clock, and made sure the bobbin holder's back wall is facing right. I put the bobbin thread through the first hole closest to the spring. I pulled the thread through the top hole that is lined up with the bottom hole. I got the thread behind the spread. I tested the bobbin shuttle and the end of that bobbin gear is flush with that hole on the left of the bobbin shuttle when the crack nob is at 3 o'clock. That vertical thread shaft top is at 1/4 inch protruding out the top. I sanded all the bobbins, bobbin holder, and shuttle area. On the hand crank, I made sure bobbin shuttle notch is in the middle grove, and the other gear notch is in the outer grove. I made sure that little notch in the middle is lined up with that small notch on the hand crank. So here is what happens when I crank the machine to pick up the bobbin thread. The bobbin thread is not moving so the needle could pick it up. So I removed the bobbin cover and test cracked it. The bobbin is moving properly. I put the cover back on and held the bobbin with a little tension. The thread is moving but still not picking up. I'm clueless.
