Did the performance issues and the horrible rideability exist with the stock exhaust system?
@tonyfrewin48222 ай бұрын
I have used this on my old car and I think it ran a bit better but also some improvement on mpg. I think the amount per tank probably relates to a car fuel tank so I think best to half the quantity that you add. Great video btw. Ps, I’m thinking that this might be more useful for a leisure rider who leaves the bike in the garage for 6 months unlike a commuter who rides 6 days a week.

Now are those levers especially made for your bike only or are advertised as Universal for most bikes? I just got my license 3 months ago and bought a Honda Grom. I now bought a Yamaha V Twin 250 and it feels big compared to the Honda Grom. I find the brake & clutch levers on the Yamaha a bit too far out from the grips and with my small hands and short fingers have trouble reaching them. Can one buy ones that are also closer to the grips? I assumed that the cable had to be also attached and that was the part that I feared. You are an excellent rider and can shift gears faster than I can blink.

I have used stp carb cleaner additive, and after a few tanks I noticed a slight difference. The iddle and response are smoother. But the difference is very little.

Did I miss something? You didn't say your bike had any issues like hiccups in certain situations, rough idle, fuel wash into the oil (caused by poor aspiration), or any other symptoms of plugged injectors. This isn't a mod, just a cleaning. No point in telling us your bike ran fine before and it runs fine after.
@Majestid5 ай бұрын
When getting hot my bike had an issue at idle, had a close relative who has worked on carbs for a while and he told me my carbs needed to be cleaned. Ran 6oz of Techron in a half gal tank, let my bike run till hot for about 15 min, idle issue seems to be clearing up. I’ll come back and say what happens after a hot days ride

i only use SEAFOAM in my motorcycles. long ago i bought a 1990 gsxr750 that had been sitting for 3 years. i checked the oil. put the battery on the charger and when it was good enough i hit the starter. took a bit to get started but idled perfect. giving it throttle was a different story. it would sputter pop and bang horribly. i drained all the fuel out of the tank. put a fuel filter inline. put fresh 93 octane fuel with SEAFOAM in the tank and let her run for a while. then i rode it around the block and occasionally goosing the throttle and it would sputter pop and bang. after doing this for a few days i was riding around the neighborhood and goosed the throttle and it sputtered popped and took off like a bat out of hell and ran perfect ever since. i never cleaned the carbs and rode it for years.

I have a 4 carb1985 Ninja 600R that I would prefer not to have to disassemble and clean. Many videos slag any additives and pronounce that only carb removal and cleaning does any good. The Ninja has always had top of the line gasoline, with "Sta Bil" brand fuel stabilizer always added at fill up time. Did the research on it, and the additive does inhibit molecular clogging in the fuel as it sits in the tank, so this is a valid precaution for a small cost. Have just started a dose of "STP" carb and injector cleaner, measured in correct proportion to the tank volume. Will do one or two tank full's only. Not constant use. And see what happens. A lot of videos claim carb and injector additives eat the rubber parts in carbs - which they prove by soaking rubber in pure fluid - which seems like arguing that because pure acetic acid will eat your stomach it is proof that vinegar therefore will eat your stomach. If the STP does some small cleaning effect, all to the good. If not, will discontinue it. It seems unlikely that STP - a long standing, global company - has a product that is damaging to carbs and injectors, or that is totally useless. At worst, it might not do much good. But it seems worth a try as a carb cleaner. And no, I don't expect any more horse power or speed from the engine - from any additive.

It's more of a preventative measure really, if there are old sludgey bits in carbs etc. then it'll clean them up a bit but as you said in the video, it's somewhat negligible even in the best case. I am about to throw some through mine just to keep things fresh but it's not to solve an actual issue

I have no idea why people think they will see any results in a fuel cleaner performance wise on a well maintained motorcycle. Its not going to do anything. Also, Dont use this if your motorcycle isn't fuel injected.

@@Loubie2005 Because Redex isn't a carb cleaner, It's more of a lubricant. Carb cleaner is best for a carbed engine.

I've been using redex every few months in the same motorcycle for over 20 years and the bike has NEVER needed its carbs cleaned and runs as smooth and cleanly as the day I bought it. So yes, based on my 24 years of real world experience, I would say it does keep the fuel system clean, but what do I know...
