Hi Daniel, I really appreciate your handy work. Your controller turned out awesome! I have a quick question. I noticed you glued down what appears to be two copper strips to the back of the front plate of the enclosure, one says ground, the other 5V. is this so you can ground all the potentiometers and buttons to the strip, instead of taking up the GND spaces on the Arduino? If so, how is that wired exactly, say for 4 potentiometers if you could explain it to me? Thanks!
@SwitchAndLever
@SwitchAndLever 6 күн бұрын
It's wired exactly how you would wire a single potentiometer, but instead of one lead going to ground and one to 5V (and one to an analogue pin) the leads go to the copper strips which carry GND and 5V. If you're just using one potentiometer it makes little sense, but when you have many, or many things which share ground and power, it makes it a lot easier to run all the wires which share the same usage to a common point, the copper strip, and then run a single wire from the copper strip to the Arduino. You can look at the video where I convert a Guitar Hero guitar into a MIDI instrument for more of the same technique being used.

Question- How did you enlarge the ring to fit your now adult larger finger? And how did you figure out how to scale it to a larger size? Im a complete newbie and am wanting to enter the world of 3D printing but dont have a clue on how to go about choosing the best beginner friendly 3D printer. Im primarily interested in copying small RC aircraft parts and printing spares. Also interested in scanning lifesize objects like cars and making smaller scale 3D prints of them. ANY help and suggestions from anyone would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sorry, I simply don't have the time to spend teaching you how to use 3D modeling software. The 3D scanning to 3D printing pipeline is not just straight copying, in the same way you may copy a paper on a copy machine. There is a lot of hands on work that needs to be done between 3D scanning and 3D printing, to get the scanned data ready to be 3D printed. If you want to "copy" parts like you describe, for model aircraft, I would suggest investing in a pair of digital calipers and learn how to measure parts and model them up in a CAD software like Autodesk Fusion instead. 3D scanning is not really a good idea for copying things like you describe.

Great info, Daniel! Looking to make an arduino box to switch my presets with the click of a button. Currently using an Organelle synth for most live sound and it takes more than a few seconds to find and load the patches with a dial - I would like to make a little box of buttons that can switch patches on the synth without touching the actual synth.

You can also dispose of liquid wastes using cat litter to solidify them, it is a pretty standard way a lot of hobby darkrooms solidify liquid wastes.

I am going to try using this for an autonomous robot, with one core handling the servo and motor control functions, and the other for advanced sensor and AI functions. Would the micropython/arduino combo be suitable for this? I did order a refernce book.

Can this work on a fire clay bathroom sink? I hate the brand logo on it but branding was fired to the sink itself. I'm hoping this method will rub it off

It will not, that's not printed or painted on top but literally a part of the sink.

Laser cutter, not laser printer. And contrary to KZbin commenter belief laser cutters are not single use, you can literally use them for many different projects. This comment echoes as empty as someone who comments on a carpentry video that you need to buy a hammer to hammer nails. Tools, especially good tools, are allowed to cost money.
