Got a question tho, if a leaf get broken prematurly, do u leave the tuber in the soil or do u take it up? Not sure if it will still grow in the soil.

Indeed, it isnt just you that love to dig up tubers, its like digging for live gold 😊. I didnt knew u had this one in ur plant Collection, since these plants are stupid rare anywhere really. No idea where to get it in Europe... beautiful plant tho. Do u have Taccarum caudatum as well? All the rare plants are in the UK, stupid Brexit 😑

I have a weird fetish for digging up tubers! I love it as much as growing the plants in the first place.

There is something so comforting about other peoples unboxing videos. I didn’t have to spend any money but I get to admire the pretties . (Must not add any to the ever increasing wish list).

I typically just leave the wilting/yellowing foliage as I have always been under the impression that the corms/tubers are reabsorbing the nutrients contained within the leaves. Unsightly, yes, and trying to sit on your hands is aided by having MORE plants around for distraction.

Great video as always. A few questions that is kinda off topic: do u reuse the soil? And what do u do with Amorphophallus that come late up in the year? I have a few now that only is starting to leaf out, you just take it inside the house? Also my konjac dont seem to mind 5c they all in leaf and look fine? Sorry for asking. First time growing konjac this year. And most of my bulbifers are gone sadly😢.

Hi there. I do reuse my soil most years. I refresh it with my home made worm castings and compost made from garden waste. I further enhance it with osmocoat and bonemeal usually. When I think soil is getting deleted I just turn it into the compost or throw it on the garden. I find most of my Amorphs go down around the end of October unless there is an early frost. Any that I want to keep growing I take to my studio and keep them going. Some of the more tender ones like Atroviridis, Longituberous and similar I have to being in a bit earlier. The problem I get it that some plants get confused and even though I can keep them going they go down in the spring or summer which is quite annoying. I have had a TERRIBLE year for Amorphs, Colocasia and Arisaema. However, Gorgonideum, Remasutia, Pinellia and all my Wetland Aroids (Lysichiton, Calla, Zandts, Peltandra, Orontium have all loved the wet weather. Bulbifer hate me. I keep them for a year or two and they rot.

@@aroid_artist ty again for the detailed info/care guide! Im sorry about you having a bad year, its funny that bulbifer is a so called moonsoon plant but cant take our summer rain? Not sure why but konjac seem to be way more tolerate over for too much water, even wet soil. I have had 50 tubers and 0 death or rod issues. My bulbifer had a great last year but this year, some came up late summer but rotted away, now im down to 3 tubers out of like 15.....may try bulbifer again but with the ease of konjac, i think i will keep only that specie. Also another question: when you remove baby tubers/arms do u put cinnamon on the wounds or just let it heal over by itself? Ty in advance.

Just followed your series there, thanks for doing this, very informative. Bought two of these in August and already noticed they leaves are on the way out, end Sept. When would you remove from the pot and dry store them? Also when they start to wake up, should they be kept under lights and heat...Im guessing room temp. Thanks again.

They're also hemiepiphytic. I've ordered bulbils here in the states multiple times, to no success. The bulbils always rot before producing any foliage. I have over a hundred different Araceae genera, but no success. Vivipara is the only thing I've found here, but you're lucky for having access to more species.

I would have thought you would have been able to get them over there. We have a hard time now since Covid but I don’t sell and trade a lot which helps. I’m in it for the learning and the art. I ship stuff from the US sometime from places like Plant Delights but it’s a fortune in fees

That isn’t worm tea that collects at the bottom it’s Leachate. Be careful adding to plants as it may be anaerobic.

I digress. Worm castings are great for your soil and provide a balanced NPK nutrition that’s balanced for your plants and readily available. Worm castings are highly beneficial for soil because they: 1. **Improve Soil Structure:** They enhance soil aeration and drainage, promoting better root growth and reducing soil compaction. 2. **Increase Nutrient Availability:** They contain a balanced mix of essential nutrients, including nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium, which are readily available to plants. 3. **Boost Microbial Activity:** They introduce beneficial microorganisms that help break down organic matter and improve soil health. 4. **Enhance Water Retention:** They improve the soil's ability to retain moisture, reducing the need for frequent watering. 5. **Support Plant Growth:** The combination of nutrients, improved soil structure, and microbial activity promotes stronger, healthier plants. Overall, worm castings act as a natural, organic fertilizer that supports sustainable and productive gardening.

My Atroviridis just arrived and I am so excited! I can’t believe how underrated the genus is! (At least in Europe) My big Konjac is by far my favourite plant in my collection when its not dormant. Btw what’s your experience with dormancy? I supposed they would be dormant in fall and winter but mine sprout their leaves earliest in late May, sometimes in June and go dormant mid December lol
