Every once in a while I pick up Savage Dragon, shake my head and go back to not picking it up. 😅

Space ghost would be my pick of the week. Liking how the story is going and the writing and art has been on point. I was so excited to give savage dragon a try after hearing how crazy it is and one of the lcs i usually don't go too told me they couldn't sell it to me because it comes out 'next week' and, "where did i find this". Was really disappointed don't think i will be going back to that store.

@@Gorrgrim yeah there might have been a release error, who knows!

I haven't read this issue yet, but in Savage Dragon quick overview: Malcolm & his wife Maxine just moved to SF. Steamboat Willie is infatuated with Malcolm's wife, meanwhile.. Angel is one of Malcolm's old teammates from when they were in Chicago and is married to Malcolm's best friend Frank. The other current plot line involves Frank being "body swapped" with a villain from another dimension named Mr. Glum. So Frank is stuck in another dimension in Mr. Glum's body with baby Angel while Mr. Glum is having his way with Angel in Frank's body. Hope that helps!

Lots of the same stuff for me this week. Bear Pirate Viking Queen, Spider-Man Reign, Savage Dragon, Boy Wonder. Plus and Betty & Veronica Summer Spectacular and Werewolf by Night. I also never read the original Spider-Man Reign, but a short recap video on KZbin was enough for me to catch up and I enjoyed the book. The artwork is wild and grotesque. I'm a fan anytime Marvel or DC let a single creator write and draw a book featuring one of their characters. It's not boring.
@ComicCulture3 күн бұрын
@@contempocomics yeah and Conan was great as well! Good call on the KZbin SM Reign catch up. I'll do that too

My pick of the week so far is Department of Truth. Tynion and Simmonds are back after the break fully refreshed, delivering exciting key points, finally shedding light on the mysterious origins of DoT. With Universal Monsters Dracula, Simmonds elevated his already superior artistry to a new level and that mastery is well on display with the latest issue of Department of Truth. Next, I have The Penguin, as this hard-nosed, noir Gotham run builds to a bloody climax. Right behind that, Detective Comics continues to build Ram V's epic arc, and the Action Comics/Superman arc was very good. Sacrificers, Redcoat and Rook are up next. I missed out on Zatanna, but the art looks great, so maybe try to find issue 1 or wait for the trade.
@ComicCulture6 күн бұрын
That's a great list. I stopped reading department of Truth somewhere in the teens. Although I totally agree that Dracula was spectacular and the art was spectacular. I'm reading penguin as well but I'm not up to date on it just yet. Thanks for watching!
@dwsippel6 күн бұрын
@@ComicCulture I'd say as long as you have a general knowledge of Dept of Truth, you could easily jump back in with issue 23 and immediately reignite any interest you might have had in the series and concept. Probably best they took a break, as the concepts and lengthy exposition were wandering unfocused in the teens. Issue 23 is bringing in some much needed background and balancing the showing and telling much better.

Excellent reviews, Nick. Agreed, the Ghost Machine books are kickin ass! considering those involved, I was also disappointed with Creature. FYI: NOMINATIONS COMPLETE. 😂

Hey. Nice reviews as always. Now it's finished I will be reading all of Rare Flavours. Still collecting all the Ghost Machine comics but will wait untill they have ended or first arc is done before getting stuck in. Reading Beneath the trees right now. Man what a great series that is. Also picked up Feral, Falling in love on the path to hell and Into the unbeing from Dark Horse as they piqued my curiosity.

Hey Nick. Void Rivals, Sacrificers and Rare Flavours were part of my weekly reads. Sad Rare Flavours is ending but finished strongly. Having a happy good feeling for a man eating demon is a twist that made me giggle. Sacrificers is another series I am sad is rapping up. Looking forward to seeing how it wraps up. Void Rivals, the comic that started the Energonverse. Of this writing. Haven’t read yet. Maybe tomorrow. I have heard nothing but good things about the Ghost Machine books. Too bad my wallet can only stretch so much. Maybe dive into it later as these series that I am currently reading are ending. Another great video Nick. Station brother. 🖐🏼👏👏👏

My favorite book was Feral. I absolutely loved the ending and the story for me really does a good job telling their story and making me care. Was shocked how highly you rated grommets as i actually absolutely hated this issue 2 after loving issue 1. To me it seems the title will just be a bunch of 1 off stories not really connected nostalgia baiting people like you who like seeing old taco bell or something else. Where is the connection is between his friend being a poser and messing up all his teeth. The main characters dad in issue 1 is drinking while driving and smoking a cigar but then issue 2 apparently he has been sober for months and doing Pilates or something?
