This is a fascinating story but i dont know why anyone mentions the last VH album being rehashed old demos. Anyone who knows anything about the band knows that theyve drawn on old ideas pretty much all through the catalog. House of Pain from 1984 predates the debut album. Seventh Seal l's music was a riff Eddie came up with on th 70s.

That is so awesome. Got so sick of all the crap and click bait b.s on youtube that I barely click on any of the links anymore, just the songs. I saw an interview video where the guy was telling the story of how he became friends with Eddie, he gave Eddie a shirt and guitar pick when he got invited into their dressing room at a meet n greet type thing before a show.. Totally floored him. theyd just hang out, eat burritos drink some coca-colas. he got to ask alot about amps etc. and at times he got listen to Eddie just rip beyond full blast. Its good to hear the stories that shows his humanity. Thank you.

I realize nobody will believe me but I was on AOL one night in 1995 and used to go into the chat rooms and strike up conversations with strangers ---- well one night I saw a username of "EdVanHalen" and I sent an instant message and the person responded --- I asked "is this the real Eddie Van Halen?" and the person said "Yes it is" and I was in shock LOL. We had a short conversation and I told him I was one of his biggest fans and he said "thanks, really appreciate that" and then logged off. To this day, I am still convinced it really was Eddie I was talking to on AOL that night. You can choose not to believe me, and I have no solid proof it was Eddie, but it just seemed too authentic to be fake.

I read that the band initially agreed to take the year off so Dave worked on his movie but the brothers later got restless and wanted to make an album. Dave also wanted Alex out of the band since Alex controlled Eddie and even threatened to beat up Dave. Alex would argue with Eddie in Dutch and they would get in fistfights. 5150 studio was also very dirty and full of booze and drugs so Dave didn't want to record there. Alex also might be engaging in projection since there are accounts of Alex being envious of his brother's fame.

It also could be that eddie was over controlling. But i guess thats fine. It was his band

Again, this is the biggest lie circling rock history right now. Why the fuck would Dave go out and hire one of the second best guitarist of the 80s after leaving VH 6 weeks prior. Alex's bs to stay relevant with some of these made up stories is getting old!

Funny, my wife got me the Tone Chaser book for Christmas and I'm reading the introduction when this video popped up. Quick VH story. I see his guitar solo being reacted to on YT and think back. I was at The Salt Palace in SLC Utah where my uncle ran a security company. He got me backstage since my 1st concert Steppinwolf with Iron Butterfly. During the 5150 Tour I was sitting by a wall of speakers when he busted out that solo. Since I'd seen him before I was expecting to be blown away. I was sitting 15' away and could feel the spotlight heat on the back of my dumb head. That dude is responsible for the way guitar was played post 1978. Everyone took something from him. Everyone. You hear things like "I've seen a 10 y/o play Eruption" maybe so but if weren't for EVH he wouldn't know squat about that style. It's much easier to parrot something than it is cutting it from whole cloth. The dude was amazing.

Millions hate Sammy and Alex says there's no magic with Sam; funny I remember the honey moon phase with Big Al and Edward just loving Sammy and even verbally saying it many times. Since Sammy did such a shatty job, and millions hate his guts and love Roth, and it's no longer Van Halen then best thing is and should have happened after Roth left VH, they should have stopped! ...Right?! Since y'all hate Sam so much, and if VH should have continued on after Roth lol then who do you recommend replacing Roth? Fair question BTW saw VH with Roth 5 times and with Sam 3. Roth on thee albums was untouchable but live lol Roth sucked "I forgot the phucking words" every other song look at me look at me I just changed into a new costume and watch my gymnastics circus show, I'll even jerk off a baton and literally break my nose with blood flying everywhere because I don't know my parts. Sammy live just crushed every song never seen anything like it. Live he blew Roth away because he knew his parts. God made music to be played live, and live Sammy ruled, deal with it. The more I see of the rockstars I liked growing up playing music the more I’m disappointed.

Without David Lee Roth there would never been a debut album like the first Van Halen record period. No “I’m the One”, Feel Your Love Tonight”, Ice Cream Man” etc. The DLR haters don’t get that…It was a combination of the brothers , Dave and MA. But Dave had a huge impact on the band like it or not.
