It really helped when you integrated the collages into your old painting and especially when you started integrating the organic lines from the collage and draw organic lines freely into everything changing the composition from too many squares into a strong vibration of the total painting - as always a nice reflection on your process ❤❤❤

I really enjoy your dialoque you have during the process and so interesting and recognisable the various balances between abstract and figurative, a very nice place to be in a creativity process. My notes on your choice of materials: canvas or boards Ca 90x 120cm og ca 100x100 cm - R&F pigment sticks in sets opaque and transparent, medium cold wax, linseed Oil, gamsol gel …❤❤❤

@JGalegriaАй бұрын
But what if where you're going on your tangent is a much more original, exciting place than the precursor paintings? Surely it's better to run with your ideas while they're happening and then after the fact decide which direction you want most to go in. Which is stronger and more expressive or more uniquely you. If you're getting the urge to break away from your foundational series then perhaps that's a sign that the work you were previously doing just wasn't enough. In other words don't sit on a plateau until you've naturally arrived at one. You can't force so-called maturity. A creative life is a journey of discovery and it shouldn't be stifled by the need to emerge an identity as an artist in the art world.
@artistspaceАй бұрын
@@JGalegria all of this is true and I’m suggesting that if you want to create a cohesive body of similar work, at one point committing to a direction is an important skill, especially for creative people. Work out new directions and ideas in sketchbooks and or studies so you don’t stamp them out. All of this business about working in a series is if you want to engage with the art world

My normal way of attacking too much texture on old acrylic work is to get out the oribital sander! Alternatively use a single layer or two (if nec) of nothing but cold wax to smooth it out if it's not TOO high relief. Marble dust/calcium carbonate mixed with wax also works. Latter two more for oil and cold wax works. Just thoughts.

Lovely pretty, soft painting Andrea. I am about to start a 48”x48” cold wax and oil on board for my daughter in laws stairwell. I have never done a board this big and am a little nervous. I have no room to work on it upright like you do. I’ll have to work on it on a large table. But I suppose I can lift it up and prop it against a wall to look at it every now and then. I anticipate it will be physically challenging. By the way, you always look so elegant and coordinated in your soft pastel clothes.

Would you talk about color, and how you choose your particular color combinations. Is it deliberate or intuitive, or a mixture of both. It seems that we work in a very similar way, but your colors are way more vibrant. I know you use very bright and sometimes neon colors, but the beauty of your work is that none of your paintings end up garish or to bright. they read as rich and calmly energized.
