what's going on is economics, it's not that the judges are getting softer as time goes on, it's that the longer this goes on the more reality they have to face and the reality is, not only does housing inmates cost a lot of money but it also takes up a lot of space which is something they are probably starting to run short of so they've probably decision to save the jail space for the violent offenders and let probation deal with the non-violent offenders, especially the older ones because they cost the most to incarcerate because of their age related health care cost which honestly is the way it should be handled.........
