Nope... Even if someone is delusional. They are still competent if they were aware of the actions they were taking. And lets be honest here.. "I killed him because talking points", is comparatively sane, while "I killed him because he was a lizard person, but he wouldn'tt change back" is unarguably crazy. Pleading insanity is an INCREDIBLY hard thing to pull off. You have to be so out of it that there is no doubt that you were unable to comprehend your actions. “Fit to stand trial” only means he knows right from wrong. It doesn’t mean he’s not mentally ill. Ted Bundy was fit to stand trial but I’d argue he wasn’t sane in the way we understand it. Decapitating your dad or having sex with corpses isn’t normal or sane behaviour.
