Super informative video. Thank you. Some literature discusses different focusing screens. For example, as an old-time Pentax user, I like the split image focusing screen. Is it possible to set up the screen for this kind of focusing?
@PentaxTips
@PentaxTips 2 күн бұрын
You bet, you have to buy a split-image focus screen separately, but the screen is entirely removable and interchangeable. Similar to this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/ombbfYhsf6msgc0

Thank you for this wonderful visual history. I love PENTAX cameras. Have been buying several bodies from K100D to K3 Mk II. I have introduced PENTAX to 50-60 people. PENTAX should have worked more aggressively on the Marketing. The HOYA period got the company a lapse. The AF has been an issue up to K3 Mk II.

There is no need to advance the frame counter manually. It will advance itself, but be careful not to move it yourself because it is easily moved back and forth.

Hi! I’m thinking about spending a good chunk of change on one of these, but just to be clear (and, this might be a stupid question - I’m so sorry) can this camera operate without batteries? The light meter is a really cool thing but can I just work with it manually? Thank you so much :3
@PentaxTips
@PentaxTips Ай бұрын
Yes it’s entirely mechanical except batteries are required just for the light meter. If you don’t want the meter then you don’t need to use batteries. I should also mention, these cameras are relatively cheap and common. It shouldn’t cost a good chunk of change to purchase one of these guys (depends on location I guess).

@@PentaxTips Hi! Thank you so much for the response :3 it’s much appreciated & very helpful!! Also, yeah I found an all black one from Japan for a total of 120 (shipping included)!!! I know in the photography sphere, where some cameras are in the thousands, that that’s very cheap! 120 is like two tanks of gas so I’m beating myself up a little bit … but I wanna treat myself to a new camera >:3 and i probably will now that i got the clarity on the camera, so thank you again!

Do you mean the issue mainly using crop sensor? Because I’ve used full frame Nikon FX for ages on a Nikon PB-4 Quadro rail bellows w/ good results & to light i always use flash to control light & fix WB to control negative hue. And using an art or macro lens made for flatness reproduction. I started initially with an actual and larger lens. Nikon EL Nikkor 50/2.8 It’s probably better. Made for bellow focus low element count

I'm really struggling to follow this because you go so fast that I have to keep stopping and repeating. press the exposure button??? What do you call the exposure button?? activate the camera's light meter??? Is that the shutter button you pressed...?? and it will provide us with a suggested shutter speed to produce the proper exposure...?? ..I don't see where this suggestion shows - only the bin icon? So I have no idea after all that

Hi!! So I'm shooting my first ever roll of film on this and I'm having a bit of trouble with the take up spool - the first couple of photos were taken just perfect and the take up spool spinned every time, but after a while it stopped spinning despite the film seeming to be inserted correctly (the counter on top that numbers the pics was going correctly and I believe the film had wound up enough to not get loose inside the cam). Could it be okay?

So, did I understand correctly that the aperture priority mode cannot be used with vintage lenses with K mount? What about TAv mode? Can one use it with all vintage lenses?
@PentaxTips
@PentaxTips 2 ай бұрын
You cannot use AV/TAv mode (auto shutter speed calculated when rotating aperture ring) with vintage k-mount lenses because when mounted on the camera, the aperture does not close down when you rotate the aperture ring, it stays wide open. So, the only way to get a light meter reading for your shutter speed is to hit the green button, which stops down the lens aperture and takes the shutter speed reading.

Nice video, one thing came into my mind, if the meter needle is at the center and does not move at all, then you have a dead battery or broken meter. Fortunately the battery is very cheap type, a LR44 or equivalent.

Pentax started off with the M42 screw mount. Then in the 70s switched to the K-Mount and have used that mount ever since. However, there have been many iterations of the K-Mount with different functions (auto aperture/ auto focus/types of auto).
