Patch bays are unnecessarily complicated to me. All i want is something so i dont have to go reaching behind every single time, yet instead they add this extra linking crap which just confuses the hell out of me. Im sure its useful for people who understand these things, but all i want is 2 rows of unlinked inputs and outputs, to connect all my hardware, so that i can form a simple chain that i can see (much like a guitar pedalboard) where i know it wont feedback through the expensive hardware and break it. Why is this so hard to find, i despair. Thank you for trying to explain it Edit: Post angry rant above I am just wondering why anyone would use any routing other than as a 'through', the only benefit i can see (other than possibly saving cables) which wouldnt just confuse me needlessly is for parallel compression, as the signal can be split and you can keep the original when tracking. Is that the reason?

If the 12 Mic can’t be used as a standalone and it’s only an extension. Why is it 4 1/2 thousand dollars that’s insane

Not sure how you ended up with bad output latency - the M4 has exceptionally low round trip latency, which is input + output

THANK YOU! For live performance, I want to send my keyboards signals via USB from a Mac (using MainStage) or iPad to the 404HD - so, NOT using any of the XLR/TRS inputs on the Behringer/UPHORIA. Can the 404HD receive information from the USB to then send different signals to 1-2 (keyboards) and 3-4 (pads, ARPs, leads, etc.)? I would like to give my sound tech control over those two stereo outputs. Can this be done via the 4 outputs of the 404? (Hope I've made sense here). - Further question, could I then add instruments into 1-4 inputs in the 404 and mix/blend those somehow into outputs 1-4? Thanks so much for your help.

I know this this video was recorded 2 years and it is 1/02/2025 Happy New Year!! but I love your video, I just received the WA Bus Comp, ( I gifted myself on Christmas 😁) and watching your video as you take the Bus compressor through it's paces is how a video is supposed to be shown. Thank you so much and I learned so much about the compressor and how to use it. 👍👍👍

Hello, I have a brand new AKG P420 which goes into Steinberg UR22 Mk2 Audio Interface and all that into Laptop. Used my Audio Interface with guitar for a few years now (so it`s working), but this is the first MIC I am trying to hook up. I have no input signal from this MIC .. +48V Phantom Power is on, Sound settings on laptop are checked - but I am not getting any signal on the TEST either.. No signal when trying to record signal in DAW.. Am i doing something wrong? Anyone had the same issue? Any solutions? Thank you

14:10 Attach coloured cable ties to the rear cables. In the configuration of: one tie at each end of a single cable, both being the same colour. Snip off the excess. If there is rack space, place a blank front panel immediately above, or below, the patch bay. Lay a strip of masking tape across the blank panel. Use this to label your patch bay connections.

Good on you! Sometimes taking a physical step back helps amount to a genuine forward progress :) Close-mic'ing was born in a time when engineers were desperate to do anything to get a better signal-to-noise. Turns out that it also sounds very f'ing fun to mess around with the apparent size and energy of a sound, so this proximal "artificial ear effect" became a somewhat over-used habit for a long time. These days, with most genres close-micing amounts to yet another way of making mixing more difficult.

Hello, good afternoon, very good video, very educational, one question please, is it possible to connect an acoustic guitar using a Korg CM-200 type pickup? where it should be connected to the MIC input or the INST input (I think this connector is direct for electric guitar) Thank you very much in advance. Greetings from Buenos Aires.

How many of these can I adat together with my 18i20 3rd gen? Here are my needs; 12 channels for drums. 1 channel for piano. 1 channel for organ. 1 channel for fiddle. 1 channel for pedal steel. 1 channel for bass guitar. 2 channels for electric guitar. 1 channel for acoustic guitar. 1 channel for harmonica. 4 channels for vocals. 1 channel for shakers. 1 channel for tambourine. Thats a total of 27 channels. Even though I wont be using them all at once, I still want them left in their same location. I want a set-it-and-forget-it setup. I wish there were interfaces that would accept 32 mic/combo jack inputs.
@YHRS2 ай бұрын
The 18i20 only has 8 channels via ADAT, so you can only get 8 inputs and 8 outputs through that connector. To get 24 or 32 channels over ADAT, you'd need something like the RME Digiface USB, then you can connect up to 4 8-channel ADAT preamps for a total of 32 inputs and 32 outputs. Beyond that, it gets pretty expensive to get these big channel counts. You could do something over MADI, AVB, or Dante instead of ADAT. But the devices that support those protocols are pretty pricey. If you're on Mac, you can combine audio interfaces as an aggregate device and get two 18i20 and two ADA8200 for a total of 32 inputs and outputs via ADAT.
@JasonWelchMusic2 ай бұрын
@YHRS Ive been searching all morning for answers. Thank you! I will check those out. ......On a side note, I just heard a rumor that you can use a DL32 stagebox as an interface. I dont know if it needs a host interface, or if it will run as a stand-alone interface without a host (like my 18i20 or equivalent), but this would be a killer option if its true.
