@@brentonclarke as a kid we used soap, dog pellets, chicken, off meat. I was amazed at what they would go for. Especially velvets soap. Our nan taught us up the farm. Catching huge ones one at a time with a badminton racket or kids plastic tennis bat to flick em out of the water. Ah the memories...

Hey Brenton did you keep them alive after you caught them/ put them in a bucket when you got home? If so did they survive and if you feed them what did you give them. I went out today for 20 mins to one of my dams and got 86 mussels for bait 😂

Yes put them in a bucket of water and kept them in the shade. I think they lasted 1-2 weeks like that but some did die

@@brentonclarke I used to fish a lot of bait, but now feel lures do better... The reason is probably as you said, the fish aren't moving much, so throwing lures covers more water and you are more likely to end up in front of the mouth of hungry fish. Bait is a sit and wait for them, to find the bait... But there are definitely times bait will out perform lures as well, no doubting that...

@@brentonclarke trout love the cold water and probably your best target this time of year 🎣 Hopefully you get onto a few, they have great eyes so you really want to be running something around 6lb line, some simple trout spinners are usually a good way to catch a few when starting out with the trout.

Thanks Peter. It was a long slow trip towing the ski boat and glad conditions were calm as it surely would have taken a lot longer

@@brentonclarke I towed my son-in-law and his speed boat from about a kilometre to boat ramp at Waranga Basin and it was oh so slow and I only have a 30 hp motor

Lez on the tow back in, was looking like, I'm happy to help out but when can we start fishing 😅 That's Aussie's for, we never leave a bloke behind, even if we don't know them, from a bar of soap. Seems you got some good karma from lending a hand, some decent fish landed, to bad that possible Yella escaped... Lets just agree with Les here Brenton, it was just a carp. Never as devastating losing a carp... Keep up the awesome work mate

Haha. That is my 2nd boat rescue and they were probably lucky we were passing as the lake is not very busy now. To sleep at night I just imagine it was big carp I lost so I feel a lot better 😝
