Hi Brian, late to this vid sorry, but it's helping my endeavour to replace broken dial feet; thank you. I'm also hoping to rehouse some old manual movements in the future. I'm wondering, regarding solder; to what extent do I need to worry about the heat affecting the surface of a vintage dial, especially when first tinning the underside? I realise every situation will be unique, but have you encountered problems with this?

I’d like to get a dial made. Is getting the Lum on the hands to match the dial is that not so difficult, or is that a real issue to achieve uniformly?

Nice review. They must have come down since last year. I just got mine from Temu for $54 including tax and free shipping. Had a stuborn Seiko case back that was cranked on at the factory and it took it off easy.

Some names I like, some not so much. Submariner I like. Hatch Master not so much. Hatch Master! In that case I’d take a sterile dial thanks. And homage watch manufacturers that feel the need to only offer the watch with their logo. No thanks. It’s annoying. And then there was, I think a Thorn watch fifty fathoms homage that had a line of text with a word that wasn’t even an English word. A KZbinr mentioned this to Thorn, but they still ignored him and put the words on the dial regardless. 😂 Priceless. Maybe they are thinking that that’ll make them collectible. 😮

I just got another Chinese watch with the LD53 movement - the "Louie Juelen Design 2021" (No. 587) chronograph. I've never used a chronograph, and the watch didn't come with instructions. Instead of the usual two extra buttons, there are two spots in similar places where you push in with a pointy object. The main (central) minute hand tends to wander a bit when the watch is running normally, rather than simply progress a tiny bit each second, though It seems to be keeping good time. When I pull out the crown to adjust it, there's a lot of play in the minute hand. That hand - and the central second hand - doesn't seem to have any chronograph function. The third small extra hand, which goes from 0 to 24 hours (located at 3 o'clock), seems to be adjustable only by changing the time of day. LATER: I found what I think are relevant instructions at rotorcraftwatches.com, for their LD53-3 watch, which seems to use this movement. Is the LD53 movement a copy of the Hattori (SII) VD53?

Is it possible to paint a custome logo "name" on a stone dial as a DIY project at home? What type of paint and any other materials needed? Thanks

you can pad print on about any surface, durability depends on the ink used and the surface. I like using multipurpose ink, but it's also cased in a watch. As for tools needed, perhaps more of my watch tools vidoes.

I do not understand a reason why watch with a cheap quartz movement is declared to be automatic Seiko watch.
@WatchComplicationsАй бұрын
the person wanted their old Seiko fitted with a quartz movement, so it's their choice if the dial has the original text and the movement has been changed. I wouldn't sell new builds with that design, but for a person's personal project and watch, that's their choice.

Custom movement holders is your niche man. It’s a very useful skill. People can continue wearing their loved watches. Sometimes switching the movements may even be necessary if discontinued, although many manufacturers will offer a replacement for that movement. Nonetheless very useful skill.

sounds like either the chemicals aren't working correct, or the surface isn't quite right. Are you sure you're printing the images as reflected and applying the decal in the right direction (front versus back of the decal)?
