love it! What a great project. The holster adds such character to your....character. You know? The distressing is a nice touch. I love all things Middle Earth so I'm also loving your hobbitty garb. I'll have to go look and see if you have a video on making that one. I would love to know more. It sounds like you have such a fun life and community.

I found you because of your Mary Sanderson skirts video and I'm here for it all now. I hadn't heard of this character yet, but I am facinated with your analysis of her costume and hearing the tricks Disney does. I guess I need to make myself into a pirate now 🤷♀

Aww, thank! Redd really is a minor character and if you aren't a park goer, wouldn't even think of her. I am a park rat, so even the minor characters are special to me. 🏴☠️🦜

I'm comming in really late to the conversation but I've loved catching up on all your Hocus Pocus content. I've learned a lot from you and you make me laugh. My favorite witch of all time is maybe Morgana from Merlin. But the Sanderson Sisters as a unit are right up at the top.

Welcome! I am so glad you are enjoying the content. Morgana is another great one 🦇🦇🎃👻

These are so cute! I also so love the personal name patch! I hope it's ok to ask on sizing that you used/or made for you? I am asking because I have never made any clothes for my self, and it seems like the patterns/sizing are not easy 🥺And also I keep seeing others that know how to change or up-size patterns, I hope you can help me? Thank you for sharing this
@robinlarsendiyАй бұрын
Hi there friend! Thanks so much for watching. For myself, I make a size 18 and have a 45 inch bust. I always find that it is easier to select my Simplicity and McCalls patterns by that measurement because it is my widest point and then take it in where it needs to. Trial and error. BUT that is not the case for everyone and every brand pattern. If you look on the pattern back, there is a chart that shows you yardage. Down at the bottom of the charts, there is a list of finished sizes. You want to aim for somewhere in between the "Yardage size" at the top and the "Finished size" depended on how much "ease" or wiggle room you want. Take these overalls for instance. the waistband is supposed to sit at your natural waist. You wouldn't want the ease of a pair of jeans to be too much more than an inch. So if your natural waist is 32 you want to make the size that indicates the finished size is 33 or somewhere in that ballpark. Mock ups are essential to getting it right. You can make adjustments directly on your mockup, then use the mock up as your new pattern pieces. I hope that helps! Best of luck to you 🧡

I love this! I bought the pattern on a whim, and then forgot about it, and found it again when hunting for a wrap dress pattern… not realising how much fabric is needed, I’m thinking of doing just the skirt separately!

I really like the idea of those pants, really fun build! I’d be interested in making a pair but I’m a bit worried about durability (I like to keep my clothes for a very long time) How does it compare to typical jeans when it comes to tensions? There is typically quite a bit of strain on both the button and the zipper of a pair of jeans, is that shifted more on the button on those? Could you update us at some point on the durability of that closure system? I’m really interested in knowing how a zipper being installed diagonally on a bias edge of quilting cotton will hold up (both for the cotton and the zipper) Sorry for the long comment, I’m genuinely interested!
@robinlarsendiy5 ай бұрын
Hi, I don't mind long questions! So far, almost all of the tensions seems to be on the button and since there is a lot of fabric for the button shaft to grip, that is working nicely. I have washed them 2 times, and the fabric is holding up nicely compared to store bought jeans. The zipper being in the cotton of the picket doesn't really seem to be affecting things, and I could have even used a less sturdy zipper as it is really just acting in a compacity to provide privacy. I did serge all the raw edges of the cotton to prevent fraying and top stitched all the seams for longevity. They have very quickly become my most comfortable pair of jeans and I love the idea of doing a "How they are holding up" video. Thanks for watching!

This made me sad. This lovely lady had her little sewing treasures that she didn't GET to use. But so happy you ended up with them. I have a collection of old thread also. I will pull forcefully on The thread ...by hand .. if it doesn't break, I will use it for garment construction. If it does break ... I will use it for basting by hand or machine... as it will be very easy to remove. Thanks for your video! I have grandma's and great aunties who have passed on their sewing treasures. I love to imagine their dreams they had for future projects.
