Wow, quel beau trip quand même. Tes photos de nuit sont vraiment très belles. Vous avez bien fait de ne pas tenter le sommet. Vaut mieux être safe. La montagne sera encore là demain...

Thanks for the video but it really wasn't a night in an emergency blanket. It was you tolerating the cold until you could get out your warmer bag. Any emergency blanket is just that - for emergencies. It's meant to keep you sheltered from water and wind and ideally retain some heat. Likely better used in summer when you wouldn't lose as much heat. If you're lost, then if you have the sense to have a bivy sac then you have the sense to stop early and find the best shelter. This is life and death. You make a fire. The blanket might just be around you as you are upright all night dozing off and on by the fire. If someone had the foresight to bring a sleeping pad then they likely have a collapsible saw. With that, not only is firewood easier but you can cut branches to put below and above you. I never think of my emergency items as things to give me a comfortable night but to make sure I don't die overnight.

I think you miss understood the video’s premise. My point was a lot of folks go winter hiking in the mountains of the Adirondacks, for example, and don’t bring a bag as a safety item. And if you injure yourself like break a leg, after spending that night in the bivy I can guarantee you bringing a sleeping bag is a better option. Starting a fire in the winter with a broken leg and without any tools(no one in the adk hikes with a folding saw. Fires are prohibited and in the alpine zone there is no trees..) is next to impossible. It’s also worth knowing that if you break a leg shock is real and one of the very important way to deal with shock is body temperature. Again using a bag will be far more helpful. But yes in a different survival situation like the one you suggested yes you would survive especially if you custard a fire. This was just not the purpose of my testing.

Great trip. Nice to hear about your experiences with the Eco Shells, looks like you have the pants too? I use the Eco Shell tops both Kebn and Bergtagen. Did you hear Fjallraven is going back to Goretex and abandoning the Eco Shell? Wild!

sorry - so, and pardon me is i'm misunderstanding you, but you don't like a single skin, lightweight trekking pole through hiking tent because its a single skin, lightweight trekking pole through hiking tent. odd - i rather thought that was the point of it

Wow another amazing video, I’m really loving your videos. I agree on hammock camping, for years I camped in a tent but at 55 years old my back would kill me. Purchased a hammock last year and I sleep so well in it, only time I will pitch a tent is if there are no trees to hang a hammock.
