The modern granny square is like the other version became cleaner, almost like it is in HD or there was a blurring filter on the other one. I like the modern one!

You do an amazing job explaining things and as someone who is their first week of learning to crochet, I really appreciate it. I've followed 2 of your granny square tutorials and they've both turned out every time I've made them (I've been doing each type multiple times and switching up yarns and things). I thought maybe I'm just getting it and tried to follow someone else's tutorial and she was going too fast for me and telling me to put stiches there but not telling me where there was. I was very confused. I'm sticking with you and Robin for now lol. I'm too fresh and new to wander far from my safety net!

I love this! I've seen it finished before. But I didn't know what it was for sure. I thought there were chain loops to DC into. So now I know. I love all the varieties of "granny squares" out today. But I still LOVE the traditional granny, too. It's such a great standard!!! I like the in-line granny too. I recently finished a blanket using it in alternating sections. And the flower granny square for the border on my granddaughter's blanket for Christmas this coming year. It looks so great. TFS!!! Austin TX USA

Wonderful pattern and great instructions! I was finding the when ending and joining the last leg of the single crochet and chains I was having a larger gap when chaining three then finishing off so I started only chaining two then slip stich and it left me with a more even gap. It could be the yarn I was using.

New subscriber here. I have just learned the basic granny square but I must say I love the Modern granny square very much !! One question tho. I have watched many basic granny square videos. Why do some chain three and some only chain two ? Does it changed the way it looks ? It seems there are many ways to make the Basic Granny Square. Thanks for a great video. :)

This is interesting. I will try it. But the sizing is larger after 4 rounds - 21 dc per side as compared to traditional i have in my jayg blanket. It has only 12dc at round 12. So assume cant mix modern with traditional🤔

How much yarn is needed for a baby blanket 36x36? Really need a written pattern as it took many repeat viewings. Ads interrupt instructions at terrible points. Love the pattern though

I have never understood why "teachers" in videos use the same color yarn as the background. I have crocheted all my life so I can see what what you are doing. I'm sure some may have a problem seeing gray on gray.
