They had a way to get better now. But they didn't. I sure wish they'd get Dombrokski back! He'd have traded some of their assets to improve the team NOW. These guys pile them up and most of them will NEVER see the show! It is very annoying! They could have gone to the White Sox and got Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert Jr. and Eric Fedde for some of their now excess draft picks that may or may not ever see the show, and not hurt themselves there much at all, and maybe still had a chance at the wild card THIS year! Instead we have the mighty Zack McKinistry holding down the fort! Disgusting!

This organization has to decide what they want to be when they grow up. The Tigers always talk about how great their talent is in the minor leagues but yet when they get to the major leagues many of them flame out. Player development, organizational philosophy and the will to win should be top of the list. Buying a championship or buiding a consistent winner? This organization must focus on building a consistent winner and putting a top product on the field. Again, what do you want to be? A team that develops players only to have them sign with other teams like the Oakland A's which makes you a farm team for other major league teams, or a team that develops players and signs those players to contracts they deserve. Time for the Tigers to grow up.

I have supported Harris' moves since he took over mngt. of the Tigers. He has made some very good signings such as Flaherty, Ibbanez,Kelly & perhaps a few more. But looking at the team now, he is not getting the job done to improving this team. How much Illitch has to do with it, I don't know. IUf Illitch does not decide to sell this team and refuses to spend the money needed to make them competitive, then we are looking at a disastrous next couple of years. I am delighted that Skubal was not traded but again unless he is surrounded by quality pitchers and every day players, the future will be more of the same. Thank you Scott. Ray

I think you hit the nail on the head with this conversation. I don’t hate who he got for flaherty, but don’t really like those players either. He seems to have absolutely no time line when this team will be competitive for playoffs

Let’s talk about how tired real Tigers fans are. We need to be great starting ASAP. No more waiting. Let’s spend some freaking money. They used to spend back in the day. Can somebody call the owner and tell them we deserve better. Do an episode on this. Thanks!

Scott Harris either will sign Tarik Skubal to a long term contract extension or he’ll be dealt shortly before catchers and pitchers report. By not trading Skubal Harris thinks he can and will sign him to a long term deal. He’s either uber confident or delusional or both.

Or maybe the offers he got a couple days ago fell a little short and he thinks that if Tarik wins the Cy that will raise his value more and trade him in off season? I really hope he gets extended though.

Manning, Mize hurt again for long stretches really makes me think time to trade them in the winter. We just need solid injury free starting pitching. Hinch is a good enough manager to keep rest of the roster viable.

I can't remember where I heard this, but it makes sense: Yes, Toronto got the #9 and #13 prospects from the Astros for Kikuchi, but the Astros farm system is one of the worst in MLB. So the higher prospects in the Astros farm system aren't necessarily as good as they seem

34:49 Who knows will be starting, IDk on 3rd., LOL.The yankees backed out of a deal for Flaherty- Scott Harris waits too long to decide and is left scrambling to avert embarrassment. Yes, Cut Urshella and Zach, call up Navagato and Tork.Oh and today Jace Jung 0 for 5 with 3 Ks, Zero shot at MLB. When he faced Louisville pitchers with legit velo last week he went 0 for 6 with 4 Ks and was flailing- literal joke. OPS means zippo in the minors if there is a high K rate and poor mechanics. If there is a high K rate in minors what will it be in MLB- not good. Also the poor mechanics wont fly versus the velo, mechanics' need to be short, simple and free, not convoluted and restricting, Jung is a joke.

I think this upcoming offseason is going to be very telling for the future of this franchise. I would expect Harris and Co. to have a better idea which young players they're gonna move forward with as part of their core. My feeling is that Skubal, Olson, Mize, Greene, Keith, Perez, Malloy, Vierling, Carpenter, Holton, Brieske, Faedo and Foley, have all earned roster spots for next year. We don't know about Rogers or Dingler, but I would assume Dingler is the safer bet to be on this roster in 2025. Tork and Meadows have one foot out the door already, but will probably be given another shot to win spots. Montero, Lockhart, Hurter, Manning, Madden, Gipson-Long, and Jobe are wildcards for 2025. Miller, Maeda, Wentz, Baez, McKinstry, and Urshela will all most likely be gone by Spring Training since they've all been busts! Ibanez is probably safe unless they trade him and finally give Navigato a shot. Jung may be given a chance to win a spot in Spring Training. Lange and White will be coming off major injuries and may not be healthy contributions to the bullpen. So...with all that being said, here's the roster prediction from me without free agent additions or trades, bearing in mind it won't be a full 26 man roster -- just my best guess: Rotation: Skubal, Olson, Maeda, and Mize. Catcher: Rogers and Dingler Infield: Ibanez, Keith, Baez, Torkelson, and Vierling Outfield: Greene, Carpenter, Meadows, Perez and Malloy Bullpen: Miller, Faedo, Brieske, Holton, and Foley That's 21 players out of 26 that I believe are already filled. Here are some guys that could make a push for spots: Jung, Navigato, Lee, Jobe, Montero, Hurter, Gipson-Long, Madden, Lockhart and Manning, Lange, and White. As for free agency, the Tigers need to target another frontline Starting Pitcher, a middle of the order bat, and at least 2-3 bullpen arms. So in essence, it will look a lot like this past offseason. The only hope we have is that Harris trades some of our farm system for legit MLB players, or Ilitch shells out some $$$ for legit help. My prediction is however that Skubal will be dealt for younger more controllable talent; quite possibly 2 Starting arms and 2 bats.

I'm not saying you're wrong, because I'm not sure. But he's been on the job for a little over two seasons. And the organizational depth was a dumpster fire when he took over. If the owner doesn't want to spend until the young guys are good to go, what's he supposed to do? I think he needs a little more time to show his ability.

I am pretty shocked that there was so much heat toward Harris regarding this deadline. I think people forget what a 180 Jack Flaharty did with the Tigers after absolutely train wrecking the last time he was traded. If you grade from conception to execution, this has to be an A for the Tigers. They bet correctly, turned him around and got a couple of decent prospects, one that can help the MLB infield soon.

What’s frustrating is Harris is taking all these super young guys so when and if they’re ready for the majors the core they have now will be wasted the next couple years. That’s telling he has no plan on when we’ll get remotely competitive and Chris I is not his father the. Tigers are an investment he’s making money even when they lose. Look at last year the Tigers were way better than Cleveland and the Royals neither spent a boat load of money and look where they’re at now. There is something wrong with this organization and no one seems to to care.

I hate the MLB's musical chairs system. No point of having a favorite player & getting their jersey, if they become any good they'll just get traded for some extra unproven prospects. If by chance one of those prospects becomes a good pro, they'll just get traded for some more unproven prospects. And round & round we go.

Too many over estimate their own team"s asset values. Chafin and Canha value just meh, got meh in return, Kelly had some value, got some value in return. I get it that Flaherty return somewhat underwhelming, but this is a half year rental represented by Boras. He gets something like ten starts if he avoids re-injury, and Dodgers won't be able to extend him with Boras as his rep.

Scott, I would be fine with McKinstry staying with the team into his sixties (tongue in cheek). Their whole major league roster aside from a handful of offensive players is a disaster. The pitching aside from Skubal has nothing. Do we know if there any better offers for Flaherty? Did the Tigers have any other options for Flaherty? Probably not. Ray
