The Tigers cannot trade Skubal; they have salary room to sign a couple big hitters. All they need is 2 bangers that can total 45- 50 HR.

There is a difference between balls being slapped and driven. Colt is starting to drive the ball the other way. That’s what good hitters do.

Earlier in the series Gio made a play at 1b where he clearly beat the runner to the 1st base bag and upon replay it was overturned basically costing the Tigers the game.

Keith has the approach that Miggy had for 20 yrs. Hit the ball where it’s pitched. Try to take the fastball back up the middle and turn on off speed stuff. Worked well for him… the entire team should take that approach, we would be in the wildcard right now. Modern baseball approach pisses me off. Everyone just trying to hit home runs

The problem with The Cora call is he’s gotta be windmilling Vierling so Vierling knows he’s going all the way I think he makes it or it’s very close and you want to be aggressive with two outs

Max Clark and Kevin McGonigle need a new challenge and should be sent to West Michigan (A). What else do they have to do to convince slow-moving Scott Harris? Tonight, shortstop McGonigle went 3 for 4, 4 runs, a double , two SB and is now batting .336 with an .898 OPS. Centerfielder Clark went 2 for 3 with two doubles and is batting .285 with a .799 OPS, 25 stolen bases and 57 RBI. Al Kaline won the MLB batting title when he was 20. C’mon Harris, stop holding these two back and send them to West Michigan. They are starting to get bored, and you are a boring GM when it comes to obvious, gifted young players.

At the end of June about eleven days ago that OPS for Clark was at .730 it's been fairly recent with him that I feel like a call ups been more appropriate. I do however think it's pretty likely that we see a call up for them both after the all star break. The main thing here is using a hall of famers career path to say kids are being moved too slow seems a bit misguided. While I think Harris has been slow especially with McGonigle these two were high school kids just over a year ago. I don't think there's anything wrong with giving them a little extra time at the lowest level to get adjusted lifestyle wise to professional ball before moving them.

They still better trade vets and call up young guys. Cant use a 10 game sample size and forget about first 70 games and disregard team future. This team ain’t going anywhere this year.

“Turning on” outer third fastballs is not a good approach- see Javy for how well that works.

Hitting the ball where it is pitched has been around since the beginning of baseball. This is one of the mistakes of the modern game. Hits are good no matter where it goes. This is the part of analytics that drives me nuts. Pete Rose was a slap hitter that may not have been given a chance in today’s game.

Colt keith made a gradual change to the "momentum" swing used by good MLB hitters. Mark Dertosa of MLB network is the latest to talk about hitting in MLB "you have to go back to go forward", in other words building momentum in the swing, like the backswing in golf, a Qb in throwing a football, moving the que back in billiards, swinging an axe chopping down a tree. Watch video in April and May of COlt Keith not reaching back in his swing instead having a useless bat-pump straight down. Fastforward to recently- hes reaching back with a "backswing "so to speak- the backward movement Derosa talks about and the momentum Ive been talking about all year. Its not perfect- he does not have the momentum of Ohtani, Judge and Greene but its a lot better than what he was doing. Convertsely Malloy has zero momentum in his swing- he swings from a hands still position(after meaningless bat waving) and as long as he does this will bat 190.

I’d much rather try to force the opposing defense to make a play rather than play the station to station game of Leyland and Asshat. The Guardians the Braves the Phillies and others do the same thing.
