In the US, there was a recall for Honda to replace the original push lever gas cap with a locking cap. My recollection is that any key could open it. The issue was that in the event of a crash, the rider’s body could depress the lever, opening the cap and increasing risk of fire.

Hello Mr. Mam, I’ve just exceeded 4,000 miles on my 8S and like you are generally displeased with the performance of the tires. I am on the market for a new set and am curious if you had any recommendations for replacements. Like you, my riding mainly consists of roads at (generally) legal speeds. I’m exposed to far less precipitation than the UK, although the roads I ride are in a comparable state of disrepair. Appreciate your thoughts and cheers from California, USA.

@@DimirGarage Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment . I hope you are enjoying the bike . I try to only express a view on tyres I have actually ridden for a while so my experience is not exhaustive ! I have Michelin Road 6’s on a few of my bikes and like , and trust them , particularly in wetter, colder conditions . I have also recently fitted a pair of Metzeler Roadtec 02 to my Z900 RS and have been pleased with them . Slightly sportier, in my opinion , than the 6’s . Lots of good tyres on the market , including Dunlop aftermarket . Sadly it won’t be hard to improve on the OE fitted ones ..

@@michaelmam My thanks for the recommendations sir. I've been greatly pleased with the bike's performance as a commuter. My route is about 60 miles and includes both highway and B-road travel, with roughly 2,000 ft of elevation change. It handles these conditions with ease, the exception being the more deteriorated sections of road that cover about 30-40% of the route. I personally also love the looks of it. I have seen and heard many others refer to it as "Transformer-ish," which reminds me of a comment my father said to me roughly 20 years ago. We saw an advert for Cadillac cars on TV, in which they played a song by Led Zeppelin (I think it was Kashmir.) He commented that, when he was a young man, nobody who was driving a Cadillac would of listened to Led Zeppelin. It was only as his generation became the target market that the brand made that association. I find myself in a similar position with this bike. I grew up watching Transformers, "Mobile Suit Gundam," and various other Japanese programs with a similar visual style. I think Suzuki identified their target market very well, as the bike's looks, character, and price point are almost perfectly aligned for what I was looking for and in a position to afford. Again, thank you for your time and recommendations.

@@michaelmam thank you for the reply, apparently the 2025 model is Euro 6 compliant- do you think this will make the throttle even more snatchier ? I test rode a standard RS and found it awful in traffic, I hadn’t ridden a bike in 32 years and it caught me out 😃 my old 907ie was fine. What do you think of the G2 throttle tamer ? I wouldn’t want to remap and affect warranty. Great videos by the way ,
@michaelmam
@michaelmam 5 күн бұрын
@@login1226I guess we will have to wait and see what Euro6 does to the throttle . Logic suggests it will be even more vigorous at preventing unspent fuel escaping so more on/off 🤔 The engineers may have found a way to map round it though . I have actually had my bike remapped and it is much smoother and the fuel cut off engine braking ( like dropping anchor 😂) significantly less . A lot of bikes have been remapped and I haven’t heard of one having an engine issue so decided I was happy with the “risk”. Most after market work rounds may improve them slightly , for some but the issue is the map .. Still a great bike . One of my favourites 👍

My bike before this was a KTM SA1290R. Great bike but bigger than required. I do a lot of filter riding (London) and fair bit of motorway riding. KTM great for both, but still, ‘too much bike’ for my purposes I eventually felt (although had it 5 years and the SA1190R for 5 years before that.) So got this. Had it a year. Likes: Looks. I got the BMW colours one. With the gold forks looks v nice. Nice wide rear tyre completes the look. Size. Compact. However, actually bit small (I’m 183cms.) TFT, heated grips, cruise, BMW sat nav - all that sort of thing. Nice level of power. A bit lacking in torque. Likes to rev, although 4k sounds like 6k. Bit of a screamer. Quite a nice sound in general. Great looking exhaust. I ride this quite differently to the KTM, using lower gears and up the rev range. Can do a lot keeping in second. Quite fun as can ‘thrash it’ without doing crazy speeds. Planted on motorway, this is where heavier bike helps. Got aftermarket screen as essentially had none. Dislikes: Can be hard to modulate the clutch pulling away. Cannot seem to get it quite right. All a bit high revs. Can pull away in second (just about), but need first really. Weirdly heavy front end. Takes quite a lot of strength to turn filtering / stationary. Surprising, but because a heavy bike and cast wheels, Although a KTM was heavier, but much lighter feeling at the front. KTM spoked. Not good for very long rides. After an hour (1.5hrs max) need to get off. Ride can be harsh. Feel the bumps. KTM would soak up … not this one! 13L tank a bit on small side. Ought to be 16L. Can do about 140 on a tank. - So overall I like it. But, mainly because a bit on small side for me, will keep for time being - but will be looking to get a larger bike. Probably 1000cc sport / tourer type. But must be good for filtering (!) So F900R does have a lot going for it and probably just about perfect for the smaller rider for in town and shortish motorway rides. Luckily for bike enthusiasts there are so many to choose from - but then that can become part of the problem … which one to actually get?

I had a 2007 S4RS Testastretta. Added a taller handlebar riser, various carbon fiber parts, keyless gas cap, shortened the carbon fiber Termi cans, and converted the front rotors to true full-floaters. The rattle of the full-floaters, dry clutch, and Termis is a sound like no other, and that bike could get up and move. Only downside was the U.S. models had issues with the ethanol in our fuel causing the plastic gas tanks to swell. Other than that, a great bike, pleasure to ride for sure! kzbin.info/www/bejne/pZuxZnRvn7-WgK8

It is not a gsxr of the past which are full on and "lairy" but it is a very capable and easy to ride , mid speed sports that will flatter most average riders and make you smile . Engaging . I can understand you not wanting a garage full of bikes . It is fun , but has its drawbacks 😂😂. "Do it, do it!" I'll tell you, I've had mine for 20 months now and I love it more today than I did in January '23 when I saw it on the showroom floor and knew I had to have it. I bought it on the spot. What's amazing is that I fully intended to buy a Speed Twin. For years, I basically 'knew' I would be buying a Triumph. As in, oh there's no thinking needed. That IS what I'm buying. So on that fateful day here in Austin, Texas, I walked into the dealership, planning to buy one of the Triumph twins, and likely the Speed Twin, though I really preferred the Thruxton, I knew I just wouldn't have gotten along with the clip-on bars in the long term. Anyway, in general, I wasn't as taken with the Triumphs as I thought I would. Strolled over to the Kawi area and spotted a z600rs and really, really liked it, as well as the z900. I found out that a dealership about an hour north had a black/gold café. I spotted it in a sea of bikes within seconds and immediately knew it was the one. Love the classic four chrome 'headers' coming down, as well as the style of the entire 4-1. They, IMO, even managed to make the mandatory 'breadbox' look good, though I'll probably be getting the eliminator to make it look cleaner and drop a good bit of weight. It's a bike that definitely gets a lot of attention. I just got a compliment on it this morning, "cool bike man!". Sorry to drivel on, but as you can tell, it still excites me immensely. I like it even more than I did when I bought it. It's like my best friend at this point. Having owned a few bikes in my 40 yrs of riding, that's saying something. Good luck with your decision!

And then comes the Gorilla 450. The Himalayan is more my style, but for those who prefer a roadster style bike, the Gorilla is very appealing. It has the same engine as the Himalayan, but is built purely for the road, and appears to carve up the twisties with aplomb. It comes in some fantastic paint schemes as well. This was the best review I have watched so far, on the Himalayan 450. Very good job. I rode for several years in my early 20s, on bikes ranging from a Honda CB350 to a Suzuki GS750 former police bike. Now, at age 59, I am looking to get back into riding.
