Hi, Grant; it's been so long since I've seen a video from you, but I have to ask how come you never did a video on Toby Keith's Mercury Nashville era, from 1993 to 1999? It's been 10 months since his passing on Feb. 5th, and no doubt, it rocked the country music community hard. He is already missed! :( P.S. About the Larry the Cable Guy stand-up skit at the 30:38 mark, I saw Garth in 2015 right after he came out with his "Man Against Machine" album, and he said "I pay my money, I go see the guys I love, and I want to hear the old stuff!" That's exactly what he did, and he put on one of the best shows I've ever seen!!

Nice collection. Ive been collecting chris ledoux lps for the past 4 years and finally have all of them. I also have clint black put yourself in my shoes and killin time on vinyl but i have never seen a mark chessnutt record except for the 45s and a few new release of his later lps.

I love anything Alan Jackson puts out. He can still make you feel what he's singing. I feel like he is genuinely saddened by our Country Music today. So am I. We have a lot of Our Country Artist and some Newcomers who's Keeping it Country

P.S. With Toby Keith currently fighting his battle with stomach cancer, I request that you make a video about his early career hits from 1993-1999. I just read your comment on Saving Country Music's website, and I couldn't agree more with what you said. This era has always been my favorite, mainly the ballads ("Blue Moon" (my favorite Toby song), "Who's That Man?" and "We Were in Love", which he didn't write). Those songs showcased Toby's best songwriting and vocals and don't get enough credit, because of the party anthems and 9/11 tributes released in the next decade. Prayers for Toby, as he continues to fight his battle with stomach cancer! :(

In addition to his production credits, Doug Johnson has also had success as a songwriter, sharing a CMA Song of the Year award with the late Kim Williams in 2003, for co-writing Randy Travis' "Three Wooden Crosses".

This is so cool! I absolutely love discovering hidden gems like these, especially ones from the 80s and 90s. This is a very typical early 90s style neo-traditional ballad, and as someone who's always loved that style of country, that's a really good thing. The first thing I thought of when I saw Doug Johnson's name was Doug Stone's music from the same period, and sure enough, this very much reminds me of something that Stone could've done, too. I really love the melody to this and the harmony vocals, plus the lead guitar and steel. Lyrically, I also really like how the "murder" metaphor is used here, and the sort of smoky quality to Tim's vocals are a good fit. Doug Johnson did a great job on the two McGraw songs I've heard him do, imo, and if there are more songs from the same sessions locked away, I'd really love to hear them someday! I agree that this particular song should've also made his debut album, and I think it would've made a great single too. I happen to actually like "What Room Was The Holiday Inn" but I agree that this song is better, and it probably should've been the lead single instead. I'd love for it to at least be available on Spotify someday! I need it on my 80s and early 90s country playlists. :)

Added info at 19:49: There's a song George and Jamey Johnson wrote called "Kicked Outta Country" that was released in 2016, from his "Strait Out of the Box, Vol. 2" box set. Let me tell you, they hit the nail right on the head, writing it! The first verse goes: "Just got the news today The record I sent 'em, they threw it away It don't fit the format, won't fit the list They say I'm too old, won't even be missed"

The song is NOT racist. The song does NOT endorse lynching nor violence. The talk about the Courthouse is really a stretch. 100 years????? So, if we want to protect our town, our neighbors, our families from violent actions...we're all racist???? Sorry. Do not agree and I am not a racist.

Quit worrying about being demonetized. You epitomize being woke, Mr Snowflake, People are tired of being lied to, gaslighted and fed complete BS to fit into what you interpret the meanings of lyrics or your perspective of how people should conform. Many patriotic americans do NOT like the way this country is headed and this song as well as Charlie Daniels songs are simply that, Words expressing the artists thought and disapproval of the current situation!. The meaning would still be the same if the video was shot at the site of the WTC, Facts are it is not safe for kids to play in the streets anymore for many reasons and liberal justice is at the top of that list. If you cannot see that decriminalizing drugs, softer sentences and abolishing the death penalty, defunding the police and again the list goes on... is the root of the problems today, you are blind. I moved to a small town to get away from exactly what he is singing about and it has NOTHING to do with racism, lynching or any other past injustice that has happened.

Grandpappy told my pappy, back in my day, son A man had to answer for the wicked that he done Take all the rope in Texas find a tall oak tree Round up all them bad boys, hang them high in the street For all the people to see - WILLIE NELSON. I had a good friend in New York City He never called me by my name, just Hillbilly My grandpa taught me how to live off the land And his taught him to be a businessman He used to send me pictures of the Broadway nights And I'd send him some homemade wine But he was killed by a man with a switchblade knife For 43 dollars, my friend lost his life I'd love to spit some Beech-Nut in that dude's eyes And shoot him with my old .45 'Cause a country boy can survive Country folks can survive - HANK WILLIAMS JR.

True. And it’s always been the foreign infiltration into our Country via politics . That has created the divide. It’s called the long game . It is a key strategy of the Communist and their allies . It’s to bad many patriots have taken their eye off of this ongoing tactic. Propaganda has been beneficial for the thieves of freedom. Unfortunately

That courthouse is 5 minutes, 10 minutes from Jason aldean's home. Ask Hannah Montana why she filmed in front of that courthouse. It's a very picturesque building. Think about it, dumb a****

Courthouse represents LAW and ORDER, something the LEFT ABHORS, hence, ANTIFA, BLM, robbing grandma, stealing up to $1,000 with no jail time. Small towns represent a community, where everyone knows everyone, shares everyone's concerns and helps their neighbor, like in the video with the farmer who was in a wheelchair....farmers came to help get in their crops. Racists scream racism, each and every time.

Miley Cyrus used that same court house in a movie and Aldean lives near the location. IMO, it was used because of logistics without researching the 100 year history. What’s odd is that if those saying being against crime and chaos must be racist themselves because they are saying a certain race commits crime and chaos. The images shown is actual news coverage or closed circuit cameras on scene. Most of those shown committing crime and chaos are white. Btw, comparing rural and urban goes back as far as “A Country Boy Can Survive” by Hank JR. In Chicago “Simple Man” was not in rotation on the only country station at the time, US-99. I do remember hearing it once on a rock station.

i've listened to both simple man and try that in a small town and i like both songs i don't believe that jason aldean is encouraging violence but rather condemning what i take from this song is the small town values are different then large town small town people are more tight knit then large town and basically saying violence won't be tolerated in a small town. i personally find nothing wrong with this song. simple man is basically saying the same thing he is saying that he isn't a violent man but won't be afraid to resort to it if he needs too and that he won't tolerate criminal behavior all this contraversy is stupid according to candace owens the miley cyrus movie the last song was filmed there as well so does that maker her movie racist.

Aslong everyone is paying attention to what they are trying to do. I agree with most of youre opinion. Double standards is on point. As a musician that guitar lick has been played on more then both of those tunes. Just played in different for key all part of a pentonic scale. Music is recycled to entertain the ear for familiarity that's how people associate music that they like. It was once called a hook. Meaning it keeps you interested in the song.

Sadly they are not surprised, but spiritually blinded to the truth of right vs wrong good vs evil. Obviously not all of or sadly even most of the small town people who are supporting this song are Christians, but I wouldn’t call them Braggadocious but rather people who are raised with a moral compass. I appreciate your taking the time to make this video and I, like Charlie Daniel’s am not a violent man but I will always take a Godly Stand. 🙏🇺🇸
