I think one of the big changes with Fiyero that I liked were his meet-cute with Elphaba in the woods, both because it's a great way for them to meet, and also because it establishes that he has a friendship with a sentient horse. I think that served to make his action in the poppy scene a lot stronger, and the growing feelings between them a lot more natural. And this is coming from a gelphie die-hard who kinda just sees Fiyero as their shared side piece, LOL

Not sure if this is confirmed, but I heard Mattel is releasing a Dorothy doll for part 2. If that’s true, than she will probably play a bigger part in this than she does in the musical. I personally want to see Dorothy, and her have some dialogue.

Fingers crossed for everyone who doesn't know what happens to not be spoiled for Part 2! My mom, her friend, and my brother didn't catch that the lion cub was going to be the Cowardly Lion. It was not even a thought in their mind. And I agree with Arezou; like, it's so early on I don't think people unfamiliar with the story are clocking those connections, especially if they're not looking for them. Candace- near the end of the book Elphaba starts obsessing over the Scarecrow while also still carrying guilt and love for Fiyero. She's over-contemplating these figures supposedly coming to kill her. She knows Dorothy came in the house that fell from the cyclone, she can put together the Tin Woodsman as the man whose axe Nessarose cursed, and she can assume the Lion is the trembling cub she and Fiyero saved in class that one day. But she can't wrap her head around this Scarecrow. In a manic moment mourning Fiyero she tries to cast a spell to somehow turn the Scarecrow into Fiyero, at least see his face again, let him live, and alleviate some of the guilt. But the spell doesn't work. He's just a Scarecrow. So it's the unsuccessful spell you were thinking of 2:53

My Canon is the three trilogys involving Thrawn! Put 7, 8, 9 into legends! Start with Thrawn, then Alliances and Treason! That would be before 4,5 and 6! Then do Heir to the empire! With new cast! Then dark forces and then the last command!

Just watch Wic . I had hoped the split from the show is where Fiyero was sending Elphaba to the forest setting the Lion free and she has a sense of that her sister is in trouble . So the cyclone was formed . Before that Boq had became the Tin Man and Nessarose’s shoes turned ruby . Let’s see what happens in ked . The 2nd act . Putting it together becomes Wicked .

It didn't feel like two hours when I watched the movie (I just find it a bit long in the end when they arrive at the Emerald City). I can't see how they could have reduced it without cutting songs (though at the same time I'm disapointed they didn't add more, I thought it was the point but I didn't feel like it add something more to the story compared to the stage version). So I don't mind they cut it in two. But at the same time, part one feels like the build-up for the actual story. When you watched it, you feel like tou just had an introduction to the world and characters and that the story will really start in part 2. It's a really good introduction, but I can see how people who don't know the musical could have expected something else.

2:35 okay but they do mention that Fiyero has been expelled from other schools, so in that context I doubt it would his first year, therefore acceptable to be in his 20's. & Elphaba is also older because she was only there to accompany her younger sister on move in day, not because she intended to go there. So it's fair to have her be older as well.

Huge Wicked fan, seen the play 4 times, and LOVED this movie. However, you are correct that the vocals are NOT LIVE! I wish they would stop pushing that lie. As a 25+ year professional musician with a lot of music recording and engineering experience I can tell you that those are absolutely studio vocals, and there is also quite a bit of pitch correction, which if you know how it sounds, you can hear it when the original vocal is relatively off pitch because the software has to modify the audio file more than if it's close to on pitch. And Cynthia Erivo does NOT NEED PITCH CORRECTION! Cmon, let her be the incredible human singer she is!! I could also hear a couple of obvious punches (replacing a part mid phrase with the same part from another track/take), and there are a couple of places where the lip syncing is clearly off. But it doesn't matter - the movie is fantastic! I was so worried they were going to blow it with this adaption because I love the play sooooo much, and especially after I heard they were breaking it into two parts. Now that I've seen the movie, I don't think it would have been NEARLY as good without breaking it in two. Wicked fans, you will LOVE THIS! I can't wait to see it again...

Jon Chu has an interview saying he dubbed the set as a studio with the producers so they could record live takes. So the singing was done live but there is overlays where the girls are running around/fighting as it would sound bad to the average listener if they were out of breath or pitchy. There are videos out there of them singing live and doing their own stunts while singing.

Sooo... you are just wrong about the live singing. They recorded it live on set like Les mis did. The difference is Les mis they were singing to a live pianist in their ear and it was orchestrated later vs wicked they had the full orchestrations recorded. They also set up the sets to also be more like a recording studio for better audio. But YES Cynthia is singing live while doing stunts and it's amazing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqqlomd4ra2Ad7ssi=m9UnYXfHEgdxQbe1

When you go a little further down this rabbit hole, it turns out they combined vocals from different takes (not surprising since there are a lot of cuts) with some studio-recorded vocals, and they also ended up pitch-correcting the heck out of it (when they almost certainly shouldn’t have). The result sounds extremely produced and somewhat artificial, when it could have sounded more like the breath-taking performance on set (though the result is, of course, still great). The people capturing the sound on set and the people producing the final mix are probably totally different teams, and the different statements made by the people recording the sound, at the time of filming, may or may not be what was done later. A lot of the things they say are true enough, though some are misleading in retrospect (like saying or implying the theater audience will hear the same thing they are hearing). It’s not like they are going to put out another behind-the-scenes video with caveats to the “recorded live” thing. It’s close enough for marketing purposes, and it still matters that they recorded live.
@zoephotoart

@@davidg11235 Ariana and Cynthia were on the production team for the tracks. I disagree that it sounds artificial. @@davidg11235 they didnt pitch correct the heck out of it, in fact, in some moments they werent even exactly in tune, especially when they sang together in defying gravity which makes it harder to pitch correct since there was definitely some bleed in their mics, but also in i'm not that girl, in some specific lines cynthia is just a little bit sharp and they didnt pitch correct that, which makes it more natural, and in the beginning of dancing through life jonathan is a bit off too (in the movie only, they fixed it in the sountrack)

My favorite thing was how grown up it was. Because we grew up with them. Muppets were always a little risqué. Look at Muppets take Manhattan, there were several adult jokes. THE Muppets weren't Sesame Street Muppets. They were prime time. And not everything in a show needs to be explained to kids. That's what makes a good show that is designed to keep adults engaged and kids can watch with. There are jokes that are supposed to go over kids heads. But I don't believe this was a show intended for a target of very young kids. More for Adults, teens, and tweens. Even 90s cartoons had their moments of jokes only older kids or adults would get and it didn't mean you had to go back and explain to younger kids, it would just go over their heads. And that is fine. That's the fun of it. Rocko's modern life for example. Like the recent grown up version of "The Looney Tunes Show" where bugs and daffy were roommates, These are great remakes for the people who grew up with them. All the while there are animated kids versions of both available for little kids to watch still. I'm so upset both of these shows never got another season.

It did take a little while to catch but it was fun to see them in today's world after years after the Muppet show and all the other Muppet related content, the little inserts that made you reminisce about growing up with the Muppets. And it was like they grew with us, much like the adult Looney Tunes Show that came out a while ago that i loved as well. I hate it was only one season.
