Great idea, although I would have powered it down before driving those screws in!

It looks like it could also do with some sort of head rest? I watched the whole 30 btw. Was a great video.

I thought this video was great and the chair turned out awesome. I prefer the longer format videos. Too much gets cut out of short videos.

Great looking chair, John. I like the birch backing. Accents the room's natural woodwork. 30 minute video is better than a sped up Chaplin video. 👍

You are looking very satisfied with yourself, and it looks great with that smart as$3d smile. I love the chair and that fact that your were building cushions. That’s hard to do well. I’m very impressed. However it started out it looks pretty snappy I’d say. Bring on some more- doesn’t matter how long the design takes: cuz I know you get when truly focused. Can’t create quick as your mind goes. Very happy to be watching this years best from you. Seriously, perfect takes a minute or two. Anyway, thank you for sharing again. Top notch video.

I rather liked the video, along with the chair, long format or not. I would have guessed the adjustment to the design would have been a cup (beer) holder built in!...lol

Hi mister John, you said that want's to build a chair is crazy. It's not crazy, lot of chair are uncomfortable. I saw your genius in a lot of things you build. I'm sure your chair is comfotable because you are a kind of guy so if it's not, you're gone rebuild it! I like to watch your videos, it's inspiring to do things and to do well, THANKS

I bought a leather recliner from Sears about ten years ago. Within a year, we needed to have it serviced because that crappy mechanism broke. Shortly after that the foam had broken down and they had to come and replace it all. A couple of years ago, the frame started cracking but no more Sears to call for service. I opened it up and couldn't believe the crap level of "wood" and workmanship inside of it. Yours looks like it will last a few lifetimes. Looking forward to the foot rest modification.

I'm 6'4", and for my entire adult life, I have searched for the perfect chair for my frame. The only retail option I have ever sat in that came close was an Ekornes recliner and ottoman. Even if I had the cash, I could never justify spending over $7k for a chair. You have revealed a solution I had not considered - build my own.

I must say that your editing/policing before releasing your videos must be working perfectly. I have seen most, if not all of your videos. Not one time did I catch youj sneaking in any scenes of pornography or beastiality. The length of your videos are just fine, and I watch them in "real time" playuback.

I increase playback speed on every video I watch. I'd watch the video even if it was a more ordinary chair but it looks like a complicated build so I want to see how it's done. A lot of your builds are somewhat complicated but to me seeing the ingenuity of your designs and solutions is the beauty of the video. The thumbnail of the chair looks great, with the natural pieces on the back. I'll pay attention to that while watching the video and see if my opinion changes.

Love the chair and enjoyed the video. Time well spent. Have you considered taking the extra cushion and making it into an adjustable, even spring-loaded headrest? So it can be place where you want it and some flexibility at the same time.

I know this is probably a silly question, but did you consider using a fabric puller when you were stretching the fabric on the cushions? If not, you can get one super cheap thats used for pulling canvas onto stretcher bars and for the cost its well worth having one of those and makee the process much easier. Cheers, chair looks fantastic!

there is such a massive untapped market for the perfect gaming chair. not those molded "race car chairs", which are insanely uncomfortable. not an office depot chair (which all literally come from the same factory) where the back hinges up; those chairs always fail where the hydraulics attack to the seat bottom and the arm rests always snap off from the back putting stress on it. and then not a zero gravity chair which goes WAY too far in being custom and costs thousand and thousands of dollars. not the herman miller nonsense plastic chair which doesn't doesn't work. not the herman miller chair with the mesh back and bottom because the mesh fails over time pretty quickly. all i want is a chair that is shaped like a normal chair. a back that connects to the base through a thick steel L shaped bar. a seat WITH THICK MEMORY FOAM. NO plywood. i'm talking literally 16 inches of foam like a memory foam bed sitting on a metal lattice (just like a bed) to allow breathing of the foam. thick anti wear fabric over the foam to hold up to my bed sliding around when i change positions. and a regular set of seat hardware that allows for tilting back with spring preload setting. adjustable armrests, also with at least 5 inches of memory foam. and most importantly, an extremely solid connection of the seat to the base that can handle at least 1000 lbs being dropped on the very edge of the seat from 4 feet up. is that so much to ask??? lol i'd even pay the thousands a zero gravity chair costs because such a chair should last at least 50 years. i know, because this is how chairs used to be made! i have my grandpa's aluminum frame desk chair that he used when he was an engineer. the only thing about i don't like is the back is too small and the cushion is steel spring (because they hadn't invented memory foam yet). the chair was made right when aluminum manufacturing was really starting to explode in popularity.
