So “loamy earth” is the tree root your smelling and tasting. It’s kinda like damp/rich dirt. “Stone Fruit” would be a fruit has a hard pit if you will. A peach, nectarine, plum sort of fruit.

It depends how far through the bowl I am. If I am 3/4 or more through the bowl Ill either finish it or dump it out. If i am only half way through the bowl Ill put it aside for latter, but then learn from my experience that the blend needs a smaller pipe. I do like my stronger tobaccos like HH Old Dark Fired or Peterson Nightcap. I just need the appropriate pipe for the tobacco choice.

Just bought my first Boswell pipe yesterday. I've been buying his tobacco since his Alexandria location opened (I live about 20 minutes away from it), but I finally had some extra money to invest in one of his pipes. Absolutely gorgeous piece of art! Anyway, J.M. himself is a really great guy. Truly talented, too.

What I do with plug tobacco ... well as soon as I get them I will just take out a cutting board that I keep aside and start slicing away and then into the mason jar. So when I am in the mood for some plug, its ready cut into thin slices. A little work up front but saves on the prep time later. have you ever tried GL Pease's "Gaslight" or C&D "Bow-legged Bear" highly recommend those 2

Were you able to pick up some? It’s way more mild in flavor than I anticipated. I picked up a couple of tins of this year’s Sun Bear because it got such great reviews during the last release.
@shawnroberts5634Ай бұрын
@@joeandtell no sir, I was not. I guess I don't pay much attention, and always find out about them once it's too late. Just in the past couple of months I finally broke down and got some Cornell and Diehl blends and I love them (Orion's arrow, oriental silk, Tuggle Hall). Maybe next time around I'll keep my eyes peeled better, so I can pick up some of that run to trade for some of The Beast. I have a lot of blends on my list though, and most of them are pretty easily attainable. So that's where I put most of my focus, just ticking those boxes off.
@fivevs1Ай бұрын
Man, I've never been able to finish a bowl of Haunted Bookshop. Even after a big Thanksgiving meal too. I just avoid those blends because I don't get the buzz, I just go from normal to sick. It's like a switch. Sometimes I've thrown up. When I'm stupid and I go back to one of those blends I normally just do half a bowl and if I'm not sick I call it quits and dump the bowl.
@joeandtellАй бұрын
Wow. Must be something in it that doesn’t agree with you. There are certain strong tobaccos that don’t affect me like I think they should and then there are other mild tobaccos that kick my butt.

Only been married 7 years and I know to not throw stones in a glass house. My favorite tobaccos are strong English blends and ropes. I like to power through the smokes, because there comes a point when my whole body can't move and I love that. It feels like I'm sinking into the floor after a while.

I guess I don’t smoke for the nicotine aspect of it, so I don’t really regard the nicotine level of a blend. Thankfully, I haven’t felt the impact of the nicotine too much. I don’t really care for it. Depending on the time of day and what I’m doing - that will determine whether I keep smoking or not. I like VaPers with Kentucky in them, and don’t like English blends, so maybe I’m somewhat used to heavier nicotine? However, I don’t feel any side effects on days that I don’t smoke. But, I don’t have any pipes the size of that one you are smoking. Wow. I’m sure that can pack a punch. Most of my bowls are medium sized.
@joeandtellАй бұрын
It certainly can be a “struggle” to get through a bowl depending on what I’m smoking. 🥴

Joe, as for me it has never been about needing another pipe. When I spot one that I want, that's what does it for me. If my wife asks the question 'do you really need another pipe I'm ready for her. "Dear; how many purses are there in that front hall closet"? That generally ends any and all debate.

@joeandtellАй бұрын
Thanks for watching. It is a good pipe. It smokes well. It’s probably one of my least smoked pipes as I only smoke aromatic’s in it and don’t smoke those very often.
@ParsimoniousPiperАй бұрын
A lot of sensitivity to vitamin N is so individual. I dipped snuff before coming to the pipe, so the relatively low level of nicotine in pipe tobacco doesn’t phase me. Not a “manly” thing…just is what it is. My favorite blends are often considered strong in that regard-Black and Brown Irish twists, Bold Kentucky, Haunted Bookshop, Pirate Kake, etc. But I don’t like them for any kick, I just don’t have much sense of smell, so I can taste stronger blends more. If I were to feel buzzy, I’d likely set it aside for a while and try a smaller bowl next time.
@joeandtellАй бұрын
Good advice. Thank you. I’m a fan of haunted bookshop and pirate Kake as well.

I'm like you, i'll do my best to finish the bowl. I've found that eating some granuated sugar helps to counter that quezy stomach feeling I get from a big nic hit. Eating before a strong pipe usually helps, but the sugar is the best antidote for me when when a meal was not enough.
