Klipsch have always sounded "metallic" to me. The BR03s are more neutral and "smoother". They image larger and wider, and are more forward than my MBL 323s, and far more sensitive. The Triangles do vocals, especially female, extremely well. Same with Jazz.

These Antal 40th Ann in Santos Rosewood look and sound spectacular! Even with 92 dB and 8 ohms, they do require a quantity of high current to open up. A perfect pairing with Triangle speakers I found is Electrocompaniet electronics. On many shows I have heard Triangle speakers so far, they were using mostly EC amps/preamps to drive them. I fell in love so much in that combo, that I bought a pair of Antal 40th in Blond Sycamore finish and Electrocompaniet ECI-6DX mkII amplifier = Jackpot! They play all kinds of music, even classical and rock crescendos with ease, you just feed them with a powerful amp and a good source. Happy listening!

ALL of the stuff he's talking about: jitter, RF noise, intermodulation distortion, can be measured, and measured to vanishingly small levels. DAC noise-floor modulation can be measured, and the DAVE is beaten by a cheapo Topping, largely because the DAVE's inherent noise floor is frankly mediocre (but still good enough that it's unlikely anyone would notice). If you want to sell Luxury Audio products with fancy enclosures and 5-figure pricetags, then that's fine. But don't spout pseudo-scientific wibble in an attempt to justify it. You're selling Luxury to people who want to belong to the club of People Who Spend A Lot, and that's all you're doing. Patek Philipe doesn't try to pretend their eye-wateringly expensive watches keep better time than a Casio because they know that's not the reason people buy them. Why do Luxury Audio makers dance around making fools of themselves by pretending otherwise?

I’m a virtual shut in with and I bought a Dave, I’m not showing it off to anyone, I listen to headphones by myself. It sounds fantastic. Luxury means nothing to me, I shop at Goodwill for clothes which gives me more money for my hobbies like this. I also own some Topping stuff, they frankly sound sterile and boring with no dynamics. Objectivists have a weird view of what they think audio enthusiasts are all like. The biggest myth they spread is we lie to ourselves more expensive equipment means better. I like my Grado headphones more than a Susvara. Price tags mean nothing to me. I also bought my Dave used which again, if I was a “luxury shopper” who cared about image, I’d buy new, and the latest greatest thing not a 10yo DAC.

The new Bifrost from 2024 uses the same four chips as the yggdrasil lim edition. Even the owner of schiit said he doesn't use the yggdrasil because they sound so close to each other now.

Why do we assume that our systems are performing better at night… probably because there is less background noise. In history we had to avoid confrontation with large predators, in the daylight we could see them, in the night we had te hear them.. soo we are trained to listen better at night.
@patrickmeylemans9627Ай бұрын
There is no discussion that speakers can make a large difference in sound. The reason that cables and PS make or don’t make differences is because the possible differences are smal (relative to speakers and placement). Why does nobody tell us about the quantity of change they make, we could end the discussions for ever. Many of us are not interested in the promilles differences they make, we have other changes to make….

This is the second video I watched on your channel (obviously Part 1 was the first). I like your style of presentation and it's clear you put a lot of time into it. I have Denafrips Pontus II 12-1 which I absolutely adore and have been very curious about the Qutest for just the reasons you mentioned (Hype, Rob Watts interviews, the detail retrieval, I essentially the bought the whole Chord magic pixie dust lock stock and barrel. Same thing happened to me on the Ares, but I just opted for the next tier to make sure the hype = the sound. Anyway, you've convinced me to wait and save for the $10k stack. I was ready to order a Qutest just to see for myself, but I am afraid it might be just a lateral move from the Pontus. Now I am certain that if I do buy a chord, it will be the Hugo TT2 followed up quickly with an M-Scaler.

Saying that the Audio-Technica M50x headphones only play sound in the middle of one:s head is absolutely false. I would say that most of the sound coming from the AT M 50x headphones seems to come from outside one's head. Actually occasionally I have had the experience of hearing what sounds like. 3-demensional sound from the AT M 50 x Headphones and no I do not drink alcohol or consume drugs I have no recent experience with the DT 770 headphones The opposite is true of the Audio-Technica M,50 x headphones which I own as of about 3 week.ago I very much enjoy their sound quality

Nice and informative video. The hassle with setting the Topping to preamp mode is understandable. You wouldn't want to accidentally switch to non-preamp by pushing the wrong button (and have your speaker cones flying through the room).

Expanse and Stealth are pretty neutral, but I found they both sounded really good on the 465. Ashame it takes that level of an amp to get the most out of it. Looking to try E3 and Stealth to compare.
@rogerhuston82873 ай бұрын
Interesting, I thought the 465 was so obviously a step up over every other amp, even at Canjam and even at walking around with different headphones. BTW, love the StormTrooper version of the Tungsten.
@MidFiGuy3 ай бұрын
Ah wish I could've heard the difference. I was listening to the 465 at peak foot traffic time so had noise all around me. Wanted to give it a fair impression with a quieter environment.
@rogerhuston82873 ай бұрын
@@MidFiGuy - Yea, for me I compared it against the Bliss and HM-1, listened to both, then walked over to Masuda-san, and to me, even with Sus in a loud enviornment everything was better. I tried the Stealths as well, and it was clearly the best I've ever heard it. I would say it is on level with the AIC-10 as far as sound and the best SS I've heard by far. As a tube guy at heart, this amp gives me enough of the tube fullness, that I'm not sure I need a tube amp anymore.
