First let me say I’m sorry your mom is not well she will be in my prayers. Second I don’t know what version of Ableton you have, assuming it’s Live do the following : To export stems in Ableton Live, you can do the following: 1. Select the entire arrangement 2. Go to File and select Export Audio/Video 3. In the Rendered Track dropdown, select All Individual Tracks 4. Ensure Render Start and Render Length cover the entire arrangement 5. In the Export Audio/Video dialog, select Include return and master effects 6. Choose a sample rate and bit depth that matches your session settings 7. Turn off Normalize 8. Click Export 9. Name the stems and choose a save location I hope this helps.

@@edgaba The older FA-06 allows me to "Export SFM Midi" and what it does is write the "data" info in Midi of all tracks as with a standard 16 track MIDI song. I can open that file with Cubase and assign each data track a vst instrument of my chouce. The same as with a MIDI controller workstation, that records the "MIDI/SFM" data in the SD/USB, instead of the Audio tracks [it can export audio too but I am interested in the MIDI] The intended use is to come up with Midi ideas and send them to the PC to finish/quantise/mix with vst instruments of the keyboard AND of the PC

This video is beyond helpful! Thank you!!! It would take forever to figure that out on your own, if you haven't been exposed to a MPC before. Since I also watched your videos on the sequencer of Fantom, MODX and Nautilus, a couple of remarks: - MPC really is a different workflow - it seems more difficult to find a specific sound, e.g. when you were looking for a bass sound at the beginning - the option to export stems is very useful - the touchscreen seems very responsive, I especially noticed that in piano roll mode
@edgaba
@edgaba 14 күн бұрын
Yeah picking sounds is a bit weird however that’s where making your own templates becomes powerful as you just load up the template and all the sounds will be there. I decided to keep the Fantom and the Akai and I’m selling the Nautilus only because for recording it doesn’t do what I hoped it would. It sounds great but it’s aimed more for live use and I already use the MODx live.
@followyourpassion8378
@followyourpassion8378 14 күн бұрын
@@edgaba The Akai seems worthwile exploring, there is a lot of potential for recording a full song without a DAW. I like that you can record your guitars and vocals as audio along with an arrangement and process them further. And for final mixing and mastering, you can just pass on the stems to a DAW with powerful plugins or a mastering studio.

@edgaba
@edgaba 14 күн бұрын
@@followyourpassion8378 I think they all sound great. The nautilus is a beast it has great sounds and so many great quality FX however I didn’t really like the sequencer it seemed outdated to me, it does not have XLR inputs and the 16 track audio recorder is sketchy. I think the audio recorded is best suited to record guitar or anything that uses a 1/4” jack. The Fantom 0 also has great sounds and the sequencer is amazing. They take the looping approach much like the Live software this one also falls short when it comes to audio; there is no XLR and the Reverb can only be at the end of the FX path you cannot insert reverb whatever you want but the sequencer is much easier to use (at least to me) than the Nautilus. The Akai is a pleasure to sequence it took me time to get use to it and since it comes from being a drum machine sampler the concept and nomenclature is different but is a beast! It has great sounds, great FX the audio recorder works as expected and it even has auto tune etc. it’s almost like recording in a DAW it also has 2 XLR inputs with Fantom Power it’s a full Sampler and I really enjoy working with it but is totally different of what I’m use to. The MODX is one of my favorites and frankly the one I use for playing live, it has great sounds and a easy interface but the sequencer is so confusing haha I did figure it out but it does not offer audio recording and though it has great FX they are a bit hard to use. It does have 2 1/4 audio inputs. I guess it depends on what you are looking for and what you will use it for, all keyboards no matter the manufacture are going to have bread and butter sounds and offer FX and some sort of audio input. They are all very similar. I believe the Akai is totally different and I truly like it is like a Swiss Army knife of sounds and recording creativity. For Live use; I prefer the Yamaha MoDX. For recording and just having fun I would say the Fantom or the Akai. The Nautilus would also be awesome playing live however it’s heavy to carry around and I think the MOdX sounds better. Now, one could go the computer route which I enjoy a Mac with Logic x and some sound libraries like Omnisphere, Keyscape, Trilogy, some of the Arturia plugins, a horn collection and maybe some East West sounds for amazing orchestra sounds and anyone will be set. Though amazing the problem with that setup is that whenever Apple,changes anything or updates the OS or CPU most of the time you have to update the plugins also which means that you have to wait till the plugins companies catches up and you may end up wasting a couple of hours updating which is very annoying. So far the Akai is as close to a computer DAW as it gets.

@@edgaba Thank you so much! This is really valuable for me. I also really enjoyed your videos on building a song from scratch. I had bought a couple of libraries for PC some years ago, but didn't use them since then. It is a nightmare to get it to run again. So the Akai looks very interesting. Also, I am curious about the workflow. Where I live, a used MODX6 is around 800, Motif XS6 800 as well, Akai 61 around 1000, Nautilus around 1500 used. How does the keybed of the MPC 61 compare to the others?

I don’t think so. Depending of the plugin there could be hundreds if not thousands of sounds so the resulting file would be astronomical! Not to mention it would take a long long time. I just ordered one, five years late - now watch Roland release a new keytar; I've owned a Korg RK-100S for a few years, and Alesis Vortex wireless, and put off getting the AX Edge until now; it seems the engine is very similar to the Roland JD-Xi digital engine which has 4 parts, even down to the small red screen. I like my JD-Xi so it's not a bad thing. How I plan to use it: I have stage keyboards, workstations and arrangers and usually have a synth for leads, bass, pads etc. such as a System-8, Minilogue, or the RK-100S depending on what I'm doing. Having a keytar with 49 keys will be even better, and it's something extra I just like to have that second keyboard synth as a bonus. I could easily do everything with my main keyboards.

This video series makes it very easy to understand the different workflows of these workstations. I don't understand your comment at all. There are plenty of tutorials on song structures/ composition. Of course, some techniques or features, like shifting around or transposing parts of the song, only are needed, when the song is longer. But that is beyond the scope of this video.

I think it’s a really good app and the graphics don’t bother me. Specially if you were to use it on a phone it has features that Logic or Cubasis should have. For an app that’s can record 32 audio tracks on an iPad or a phone In think is solid! I see in app purchases what are those honestly …is 4.99 a month or a total charge . Thanks
@edgaba
@edgaba 2 ай бұрын
As far as I know the 4.99 is for 8 tracks. The in app purchases is to add tracks, you can add 16 more tracks for an additional 4.99 for a total of 24 tracks and further more if you want 8 more tracks is another 4.99 for a total of 32 tracks. (Again as far as I know) I think 24 tracks is plenty in my humble opinion. Things you should know about the app: 1. It is Audio only it will not record nor edit midi. 2. You will need an interface to get clean recordings and the app can record 16 tracks simultaneously. 3. The graphics on the interface are dated and look a bit old almost like you are working in an old computer however the app performance is solid. If you are going to work with audio only and do not need any of the instruments, bells and whistles that other apps offer; this is the way to go.
