Rear right side also squeaks when you push the right side of seat. Something rattles in the right back when going over larger bumps. Boombox horn traditionally doesnt work in heavy rain...

Fremont builds cars are good enough quality. This will never change.
@platniumdr4 күн бұрын
Just picked a Fremont 2025 Model 3 long range and overall the build quality is fantastic inside and out. A noticeable step up from my Austin 2024 model Y (That was sadly totaled) that had cabin noise at 70mph, a misaligned charging and fogged tail light that were both replaced on week 1. All in all, this is our third Tesla and still the only car I would buy for the money despite the occasional issues that were always fixed for free with mobile service.
@TryThinkingDeeper4 күн бұрын
Curious of your opinion on this: If you were on a budget and could either put 10k down and finance a brand new model 3, or buy a used ICE car for 10k, what would you do? I know its like comparing apples to oranges, and you may have bought your new one with cash, but in the case you financed, are you comfortable with the payment?
@platniumdr4 күн бұрын
@@TryThinkingDeeper Those are two pretty opposing scenarios but I see what you're asking. In our case it came down to interest rate, we picked up our 2025 model 3 with a 1.9% APR and 5k down payment, which left us with a 36k note for 60 months at $620/month. In our situation that note is fine. For the past 20 years we have always kept 2 cars, a "new/under warranty" car and a second car that we own outright (In our case a 2010 honda fit that we got new back then for 0% APR). That way there's never the stress of worrying if the main car will have a mechanical issue. So to dial in on your question, I'd pay cash for a cheap second vehicle with high mileage, but I wouldn't want that same high mileage vehicle as my primary daily driver if that makes sense. It'd also come down to the interest rate you can get, I'm fine with 2% and below; we didn't buy a used Tesla because the rate was 8% and it didn't come with a federal tax credit. If the only rates I could get were out of control, like that 8%, then yeah I'd opt to buy a used vehicle for cash and just deal with potential issues it'd have.
@TryThinkingDeeper4 күн бұрын
@@platniumdr thanks a ton! $620/month puts my fiancée and I in a scary spot in the case of emergency. The 8% is killer for used cars, clearly they want people to buy the new cars right now. Might have to settle for the beater for $10k or so and be patient to get a new Tesla. (We had a 2019 m3 for 3 months, then got rear ended and it totaled, now need to replace it)

Is this something dependent on the factory where the car was produced? Panel gaps are fine here, everything exterior wise seems fine here. No scratches as well. Inside no squeeking while driving. In the interior gaps are fine and my screen is aligned perfectly, saw that could be off as well for some cars. And it's not just me, my friend his M3H also has no issues. And I can assure you if something is off I'd notice it, I wouldn't be able to unsee it anymore.

I've had three Teslas and honestly the best built one was my original Model 3 (2020) built at Fremont. Tesla had been pumping them out of the factory by then and it was right before they updated the interior center console. My 2022 Model S was built the worst by far with tons of issues, it was ~6 months after the refresh and my 2023 Model Y had the same door issue as seen in the video, but was otherwise pretty solid.

@@evhelphub Thank you for sharing your experiences, t’s insightful to hear about the variation in quality across different models and production years. It’s impressive that your 2020 Model 3 from Fremont had such solid build quality, particularly during a period of high production demand. The challenges with your 2022 Model S must have been disappointing, especially for a flagship vehicle. Based on your experience, would you say that build quality improvements are tied to the maturity of production for a specific model, or do you think it varies more by factory or other factors?
@evhelphubКүн бұрын
I'd say the most important factor is how long that vehicle has been produced at the factory. But, you should always avoid buying a Tesla that was built towards the end of the quarter, especially the fourth quarter.

I have owned a 2022 Model 3 for almost four years. I have been looking at the new Model 3 mainly because of the new red color. The seats aren't comfortable and the noise was just as bad as my 22" before I added aftermarket noise-reducing kits. Tesla redesigned the mirrors on the new ones for wind noise but I don't notice an improvement. These are observations from an extended test drive.. I don't see a good enough reason to upgrade.

I unfortunately get to share my horrid experience with my 2022 ID4. Have had it for 2 years now and it has been in the shop for repairs a total of 5 of those months, including right now. The first issue appeared before I made the first payment on the car. The battery would not charge. We brought it in and it took a whole 3 months to get it fixed. Not sure if they had to replace the battery or some other component. I will add in the second "issue" with it going in for it's 10k and 20k "service". Both times they were unable to complete this basic service because something came up and they were unable to complete it. The 10k it took 3 days to get the car back and the 20k it took nearly a week to complete. This is on the dealerships as they generally have only one person to work on these vehicles. The third issue is currently ongoing. I received an error message saying there was a critical error in the electrical system. Not sure what component it was that needed to be fixed, but they had to order the part from Germany and we are currently at 4 weeks and counting as of today. Other issues that have come up, as noted in the video here, is the connectivity between the phone and the vehicle sometimes does not work. No idea why but the next day you can come out and it works fine. Other issue I have had is with the display. It had a habit of turning itself off and restarting while driving. With the latest software update i have not had that issue repeat. Once I receive my ID4 back I am just going to get rid of it.

The single most annoying "feature" of the ID4 for me. If you have small kids, you really often want to keep the car running when you stop quick to fix something for one of the kids in the back seats. Or you put one kid in and want to keep the climate running while you go and get the other one. I have countless examples when I get annoyed of the auto-off. They should have a disable possibility in the settings. Both for family use but also for camper mode.

Some fun facts: (1) the seats can be adjusted to sit low on the floor, which is similar to the feel of sitting in a sports car. (2) The ID4 is one of the cheapest EVs to insure - probably because it is reliable and easy to repair. (3) in the 2023 and 2024 models don't have the software problems that plagued the earlier models.

A 10 year old EV will have saved you far more than that $5000…
@wickedpawn5437Ай бұрын
@@KZbin2021FM Let me slice it up for you then: Hyundai Ioniq-5 (my favorite EV), 3.3 mi/kWh, 17 cents/kWh, $49,000 MRSP versus a Toyota Rav4 (similar cabin space) 29 miles/gallon, $3.5/gallon, $30,000 MRSP, both driven 10k miles/year. You spend additional $19,000 to save $650/year in gas or $6,500 over 10 years . At the end of the 10 years, you get $12,000 for your Rav4, and close to nothing for your EV. Grab a calculator to see that the EV is $24,500 more expensive than the Rav4 over the 10 years. And this assumes: 1) that you keep your EV for 10 years (good luck), and, 2) That you only charge at home. If you use public chargers, the electricity rate triples (you end up saving zero in fuel cost).

@@Arcturus519 On average, EV batteries should last 8-12 years. Most will get 250000-300000 before they degrade enough to be noticed. This is also heavily influenced by how the vehicle is charged. If you only charge to 90% daily on a home charger (7KW) the battery will last much longer than if you charge on a higher-speed charger (150-300KW) or always charge to 100%.
