This video is a walk around of some GigaTexas (Austin) Tesla Model Ys that I found in the Tesla customer delivery parking lot this morning!
In this video, I show you what changes, if any, Tesla had made to the Austin Model Ys, we will look at build quality progress from manufacturing validation units from early April 2022 to late May 2022, and I'll go underneath the Tesla Model Y and show you what the structural battery pack looks like from the outside (this EV battery pack is noticeably different).
Based on what I can see, Tesla is close to delivering the 4680 cells and structural battery pack made in Austin, TX to customers very soon. I am impressed with the latest Austin Tesla Model Y build quality, and I believe these Model Ys may be some of the best Tesla has manufactured to date!

Took delivery of Texas Made Model Y. So far, everything is good. Handling is better than the current Model Y LR. Panel fitment is good. It was blue color with Tow Hitch.

@@henryarockiaselvam92 Henry (I'm jealous!!☹️😉) Can you confirm the weight from the data plate inside the door? Is it nett weight (car only) or gross weight (with passengers)? Is the plate shown at 6:40 in this video a "jacking point" (meant to be an easy indicator for the structural pack...... Unless they modified the design for all cars?)

Took delivery of Model Y Austin made Model last week. Had MYLR on order and was offered to switch. Picked the vehicle with 3 miles on the odometer. Blue color with Tow Hitch. Build quality is good and there was no panel gap issues.

Best indicators.... Jacking points (different?) Vehicle weight. Battery data (really needs an OBD2 reader and "scanmytesla" all (ref Bjørn Nyland..... Without that, any battery observations are just speculation.

Are the model Ys being built in Texas have the the welds and build as the ones being made with the 4680 cells or are they the same as Fremont

Just took delivery of an Austin Model Y long range: Back is making a loud squeaking noise, condensation is in drivers side b pillar and blocking the camera, frunk weather seal wasn’t fully attached, a piece of trim by the wiper was detached, there was a chip in the paint in drivers side rear

Nashville, TN Model Y Long Range Two panel gaps #1 on the rear left side between the light panels were almost overlapping. #2 panel gap on the rear left panels that tie the two panels together on the left side of the glass and top glass. Have to wait 10 weeks for repair now. And two factory dents on the hood.

05:40 The upper arm from Berlin is a new design. Single steel (silver) cast? These in the video are the black stamped ones, with the plastic insert, which get "treated" at a service center with sealant, to avoid water getting in between the two parts, whenever the car visits the service center next. Fingers crossed the upgraded version software quickly to all factories. 👍

Nice video! I feel like I read somewhere at some point in the last month or two that the Austin Model Ys would be coming with the trunk/cargo privacy cover like the ones from Giga Shanghai and Berlin. No idea if it was just speculation or if it came from actual intel. Did you notice if any of these had them?

Thank you, Ben! I actually specifically looked and forgot to mention it. None of them did. However - Tesla was shipping new Model S vehicles without them for a while and sending them to customers later. Apparently a part shortage thing. Could be the case here. At least I hope so!

Does anyone know if performance models are going to be coming with 4680 batteries? I'm so confused as to what the real benefit of the 4680 pack really is. My performance is from Freemont and will be delivered this Friday. Little worried that I just spent 73k for old technology.

Not yet. The 4680s are supposed to reduce cost long term, as well as improve battery life and charging speeds. Unknown what benefits are available in the vehicles are coming out of Austin today as the battery pack is software locked.

A customer in the comment is getting delivery of an Austin Model Y this week and they confirmed that these vehicles do in fact contain the 4680 cells.

Update just came in delaying delivery to June 13 - 19th. It's a base model Y SR 279est miles blue paint 5 seat 19". 59.9k blue paint 1k. No choice on color.

@@evhelphub correct standard 269 mile range. I called and talked to 3 different people and they confirmed 4680 battery 🔋. I'm hoping in the future they offer some software unlocks on the range and 0-60.
