I'm not sure who is active anymore, the last year has been rough for pvp with a lot of broken things and still unfixed bugs, so many pvp fleets have outright left the game. If you are on xbox, the SHADOW fleet might still be around and they offer some help. Otherwise, the standard colony console beam overload fighter is still viable, if you are good at the wheel/universal consoles, the Daemosh and Hydra build styles are good. Not much different between a build on PC and a build on consoles and I've posted plenty of builds. Good luck!

@bretsgamingchannel24 күн бұрын
You could make DHC's work but it's a very specialized playstyle and not for your first time out. Standard beam arrays are much more effective and have better time on target. The Matha raptor has too much tactical seating to be useful in PvP, but it's workable for casual matches. I wouldn't use it in a high end match like this video though - Hydra, Deimos, Leg JHAS, Daemosh, Friendship - those are the ships you'd want to keep up right now outside of specialized roles.

Thank you for this vid, excellent work as always. I know you are busy with real life, wanted to ask, why do you put epg in your skill tree and why drain infection? Is it for tech overload? What actually increases the damage of a tech overload?
@bretsgamingchannelАй бұрын
Hey, the EPG is because I also run a science build on the same character and I'm not willing to change my skill tree around, so I use a balanced tree all the time - usually something like 17-15-13 (eng-sci-tac). I even use this tree for DPS runs, I just don't see the sense in an ultra-specialized skill tree that is only good at one thing. I don't have Drain Infection. EPG and Drain do not increase TO damage. TO is only increased by sources of all damage, bonus all damage (like superior pedal to metal), or electrical damage increase (such as 5 magicks). Critical hit damage of TO is ONLY from the weapon itself (i.e. a CRTDx4 weapon will give TO 80% severity), your global crit chance and severity DO NOT affect Technical Overload. DMGx4 weapon does NOT affect technical overload. Accuracy or anything that affects "directed energy weapons" does NOT affect Technical Overload (such as Fragment of AI Tech or Weapon Emitter Overdrive). Debuffing your enemy just before a hit is the most reliable way of increasing your TO damage.

@@bretsgamingchannel I don't see pc guys using ship of the line or she's a predator (on a rom) in their builds. Is there a reason?
@bretsgamingchannelАй бұрын
I used She’s a Predator in my most recent match video but it was a failure overall - in almost an hour of fighting I only got the heal 8 times, and never at a time where it mattered. It cost me 2 bridge officer stations as I had to run infiltrator+basic infiltrator boffs instead of SRO’s. So I lost 10% crit severity all the time in trade for a heal that didn’t work. Traits like Superior Pedal are free and better. If I wanted the 40% bonus damage, I’d also have to sacrifice a personal trait slot and there’s nothing I’m willing to give up right now. A few players run Ships of the Line but I don’t have it myself. The reason behind not seeing it more often is probably because it is very expensive and most of us stopped spending money on the game after all of the bugged Malicious AI crap back in February. Since everyone runs crit deflection, it also averages out a little worse than some other always-on or defensive traits. It’s still a very good trait though, I’d use it if I had it.

What updates would you do with this build considering the ships and consoles that gave come out. I'm trying to figure out a way for heal = damage build... Like proto spill or something else...🤷♀️ Also why not terran engines which give+100dmg resist on any subsystem offline.
@bretsgamingchannelАй бұрын
Hey, I mention the terran engines in this one, but speed is more important for positioning. Being held or disabled does NOT count as a subsystem offline - so Terran engines might get you 100 resist occasionally, whereas comp engines give you speed boost all the time. The biggest difference of course is swapping Aux2Damp for Aux2sif. It was always aux2sif before this, and the only reason this one uses dampers is because ETL was bugged at the time I posted this video and you had to have disable immunity to even play the game basically. The other major change, also mentioned in the video kinda, is the embassy consoles perform great when there is a lot of small damage hits, such as against science or support ships. If everyone you are fighting is in a spike-damage SS3 Hydra, that's 3 console slots you should slot something else in. And lastly, the number one change I'd make, is that for the vast majority of players right now, the Friendship is a clear upgrade to this ship and that's what I'd fly for a pvp support/healer build right now instead. Speaking to PvE, I don't have the Princeton but I feel pretty confident that it could be fairly strong with a build like this as long as you can keep under 90% hp. Any healing above 90% doesn't apply the damage so you'd also have to guarantee maximum threat while also doing your best to *reduce* resistances to maximize damage potential. If I remember correctly, the Lukari proto-spill has the same issue, if you are at 100% hp and use a heal, it doesn't apply the damage - plus the very limited 3km range in a large/slow ship is difficult to make the best use out of (repulsors+pull doff or chains of fire console could help there)

@bretsgamingchannel2 ай бұрын
The 2-piece 25% severity is the only thing worth running on it. It's less than 1% crit chance (after deflection which everyone runs right now) and ~8% shield pen, not enough to matter. I rarely run the wide angle DBB or lorcas anymore, usually all arrays especially since the Hydra doesn't turn as well as ships like the JHAS, where I always used DBB's. Note that the wide angle DBB's 20% bonus damage applies to the entire ship (consoles and weapons included) so there's at least a reason to run the WADBB alone, sometimes.

Is it safe to run Critical Deflection on a beam damage build if running Miracle Worker as primary specialization? I heard that the critical-heal mechanic of Miracle Worker interacted negatively with Critical Deflection by accidentally nerfing your own crit-chance. Any truth to this?
@bretsgamingchannel2 ай бұрын
Yes, exactly true. MW Spec will self-nerf your own global crit chance - also why MW is not commonly used anymore. Note that "directed energy weapon critical chance" such as from surgical strikes is not affected by critical deflection (either self inflicted or from an enemy player). The main reason MW spec was used in the past was for the 30% incoming healing buff for colony consoles, long ago.

@@bretsgamingchannel Thank you. Is tech-overload augmented by anything, and is one of those things drain infection? Also, I notice you run triburnium with rythmic in some builds; is that for the moments when you are slowed or held? Final question: why no She's a Predator (rom toon with the right boffs)?
@bretsgamingchannel2 ай бұрын
@@myname3960 Technical Overload is boosted ONLY by all damage/bonus all damage and +electrical damage. It also only benefits from the crit severity of the weapon it is on (so always run CRTDx4 CRTD/dmg on piezo). It is not boosted by drain infection. I run pax, sometimes double pax such as in this match. The reason is to keep cat1 resists up when held or critically, after being subnuked. It's a passive buff unlike rhythmic or plot armor etc that can be stripped, so it's always there no matter what. This works in tandem with cat2 bonus resist sources like DPRM or SIF Linkage, which benefit a lot from having at least some underlying cat1 resist. The main weak point of Pax is that it does not protect you from Electrical damage (technical overload) or Psionic damage (gol-type exp weapon), so I occasionally run 3x Resall isomags too. I ran She's a Predator in this match, if you check the buff bar it's there. The problem is the heal it provides only went off 7 times in an hour long match - and some of those times, it went off when I was already near full health. The heal being every 30s is just too far apart for it to be reliable when I already have high resist + passive regen. It's not a bad trait, but I'd rather run all SRO's, since a Predator build loses out on at least 10-15% crit severity since you have to run all 3 ranks of infiltrator (superior, std, basic). In short, I'd rather run all SRO + superior pedal to the metal, no gaps on the same 30% bonus damage and more crit severity, since the heal from Predator doesn't do much anyway. Plus, it was expensive - I wish I had the EC back from buying the infiltrators to use on other things. Cheers

Why pseudo considering most run pilot team? Also, why no borg cooldown doffs on most of your youtube builds? Also, why protomatters when only one proc source (with overload there can be 2 if running SV)? Ty for your time, sorry for all the questions.

Keep in mind this build video from March 2023, right after the ship came out and nearly two years out of date. At this time, most dogfighters were beam overload +csv using colony consoles, unconventional systems wasn't used except on science vessels, and pilot team did not give placate immunity. A more modern build would look different - check the other Hydra build video I posted from September 2023 and you can see just how much has changed since this. Then keep in mind Isomags have come out during that time, along with several other consoles and changes. I have a more current build posted on discord, and that's where I'd go to get the absolute cutting edge latest builds - for example, now with temporal stasis, you are basically forced to run Command primary spec and/or improved polarize hull, but I have no done a video to explain these updates. You can also reverse engineer builds I used in premade matches as those are usually pretty up to date for the time I post the video at least. It's a lot less effort to post a video of a match than it is to make a build/explanation video for me... Cheers and no problem ask as many questions as you like.

For the borg specifically I'd say they should add a adapt mechanic in space as well, instead of fixed resistances. (On normal they adapt slowly, and counter-adapting is fast, on advanced swap one, on elite both. If they adapted to a damage type that then does a lot less (not 0, more like -90%) dmg) And maybe have the adapt apply their offense as well (aka if they keep firing at the same target they do more dmg the longer they do so / start bypassing shields / res), cleared by reverse shield polarity / polarize hull / team abilities. In turn they never really show much offensive finesse beyond their adaptation... so not many "boff abilities" (tractor beam and boarding parties would still be a must, as would be the shield neutralizer). Maybe have them run a persistent hazard emitters (1 on normal to 3 on elite, +1 for bosses) (maybe only the heal part, not the dot clearing?)? Voth should get significant shield hardness, but maybe take a while longer to restart them should they be brought down (they have pretty high tech, but would perhaps be a bit "wha? they broke our shields?!?" when they go down)... also make their shields work against epg. They should also get some notable DrainX. Elachi could maybe be evasion-focused? They do already teleport around some... They'd definitely fit intel on their ships. In canon Breen started with disruptor and fitted polaron only during the dominion war... so maybe back? and give them their consoles! And from what I recently learned about their ship design philosophy, they should get secondary shields / automated shield rerouting / high shield regen ... rambling on before saying what I meant to say: Good idea! Wanna see something like that happen!
@bretsgamingchannel3 ай бұрын
I love the concept of an "adapting" mechanic for the Borg in space. Even if it was a really simplified one that just copy-pastes something else --> for example, the Elite Fleet Shields with [Adapt] modifier, when you take incoming damage it increases shield resistance to that damage type by 2%, stacks up to 20% total. Just copy that same mechanic and apply it to all borg, but change the scaling depending on difficulty and boom - fights are more interesting. Could still implement a "weakness" to certain types like Antiproton or Transphasic to keep things feeling accurate to the shows. Re Voth shields resisting EPG, I'd be on board if they got rid of all of that "100% shield penetration" crap they keep adding. For example, the new Hirogen Predator Experimental Weapon deals Physical Damage, yet has 100% shield pen. Why? What sense does that make? Any negatives of it being a physical weapon are gone because of that, so if it deals the most DPS, why would you ever run anything else? I hate that kind of simplification. Anyway, you understood my thoughts perfectly. A couple of devs could get together and watch some episodes of Trek, brainstorm these kind of ideas, and make this game incredible. Sad that it'll never happen.

Great Stuff Bret. Holds, placates and dare I say Disables are the CANCER of STO. Thousands of PvP players have left the game due to these 3 abilities. There is little reason for these skills in PVE and there are just way too many of them. Imagine playing Call of Duty and you all of a sudden you're HELD over and over again by other players, AND also you can't shoot!!!! Nobody would play that game. THIS IS WHAT IS HAPPENING IN STO!!!! Here's a true story: Jan 2020 Covid-19 forces the world to stay indoors. STO PvP which used to have 12 instances of Ker'rat (the PvP system) running at the same time with 30 players in each system but because of Hol;ds, Placates and Disables there is just 1 instance of kerrat with 10-15 players max. So the first day of COVID lockdown all of a sudden we have 3 instances of Ker'rat filled with players (20 players in each instance.) One of the top German PvP Fleets puts together a DISABLE team. All 5 players on the team are focusing on DISABLE skills. All the old players who returned couldn't believe what happened to STO PvP but there was PvP all day long. The next day... 6 people in Ker'rat. Not 1 returning player came back to play again. NOT ONE! STO is a natural PvP game. Feds Vs Klingons. It really should be simple but you can't have fun it you are prevented from flying your ship and from firing your weapons. There should always be a counter move. But at this point in the game there is just too much of Holds, Disables and Placates. There is no reason to add more. Nobody wants them, nobody likes them. They don't make the game better, in fact it's the opposite. They chase CUSTOMERS away. It started with the Placate wars, then the disables and now the holds. EDIT: Oh I forgot my solution: All Holds should be changed into SLOWS and if you are then slowed down enough by multiple players it could in certain circumstances become a hold. Then if you are held for a period of time it could become a disable. But this should be difficult to do. As it is now there are too way with so many consoles and bridge officer skill that are able to Hold, placate and Disable. There is no reason to add more. In fact it should be banned! If i fly to another player it should be impossible to Hold them if they are flying over a certain speed. Tractor Beams should be the only way to start slowing a ship down (or if they take a lot of damage and their engines go offline) and then a few players attempting to tractor beam an enemy player into a hold. Or something like this.

@bretsgamingchannel4 ай бұрын
It'd be quite different now, this was during the "broken ETL" era so you were forced to run aux2damp, and sci ships were everywhere which means lots of little hits, so the embassy consoles were very powerful. Now it's all surgical strikes/spike damage Hydras, so embassy consoles are a bad choice. I'd run aux2sif and use those 3 console slots for phase/escape consoles to get out of holds. The new summer Vovin console is stupid broken, 30s cooldown and uncounterable hold on teleport, best in slot for every build except when banned, until it gets fixed and it may never get fixed. Of course, I'd run a Friendship instead of this ship now. Considering a Friendship is cheaper and better, I can't think of many reasons to run the Hurq right now, despite its large hull cap.

I get that, but that's a problem with the core concept of the game itself -> they want to sell ships. That still is not an excuse to break the game mechanically so that people can't play it.

Before all that, i woud like to be able to use any ship in the game and not be underperforming. - add a universal console that set your inertia and turn rate to about an odysee class or idealy better, making big ships (1/3 of c store.) actualy fun to play. - add the ability to change 2 bridge officer per ship into a specialisation of your choise, sudently all ships become usable. After that make it so that bridge officer special abilitys coud be learned or transfered. it woud prevent everyone having to use the same bridge of (romulan operative and watchers) Is it a star trek game if you can't use the ships you like and the crew you like ?
@bretsgamingchannel4 ай бұрын
1. The polaric modulator and RCS [Turn] consoles exist and already fulfill that purpose. Most people want the game to slow down even, making ships faster/more maneuverable would just be the same. If the added consoles were good, currently fast escorts would be even faster, big ships would still feel slow and lumbering by comparison. No improvement. 2. Changing 2 boffs per ship to any spec of choice? Ok - so all the same ships that are already relatively better will still be better. Ships that underperform will still be worse than those that already had good seating. Still no net improvement and a massive power creep move too as ships like the Dhailkhina CSV are already doing 6 million DPS, add a MW and a 2nd intel seat on top of that and now we've got 7-8-9 million. Ships like the Europa will still underperform in comparison even with the addition of two more spec seats. No improvement to the game. 3. I completely agree on the boff thing though. I never liked boffs having special space traits, ground traits kinda make more sense but for example if an officer is better at targeting things (reflected by increased crit chance/severity), why limit that to only one or two races? There's no human or klingon officer who can aim a ship's weapons as well as a Romulan? Stupid. I think you are working from a weird point though, and that's the concept that any ship "underperforms." Even the worst crappiest ship in the game - shoot even the T5 Hirogen Hunter - is capable of over a million DPS or more, easily enough to clear even the most difficult content the game has to offer. People hate the Europa and I've even done over a million DPS in that. If you are chasing that last 1% of performance, no extra consoles or spec seats are going to let you fly your favorite Galaxy class to get there when the ships that do offer that last 1% would get the same buffs and simply be even better. However, if there was a metric to measure ships besides "how much dps does it do," like making the changes I mention in the video, then each ship would excel at a different category. Instead of everything only having a single category to measure performance like the game works right now.

@@bretsgamingchannel Hello,i get and agree to a lot of what you say. My point was to make it ,so any ships in the game fells good to pilot and can reach 70-80% of the best ones . Most people don't do dps runs or pvp ,and for those they fell how mutch the worse ship underperform . And that mean you can do a fun build and contribute little to the team ... or do a meta build like everyone and not use 90% of the ships in game. It's the gap that bother me and honnestly any solution to that is fine to me . A valkis drift a whole 5km from full speed to stop even with rcs it's a inertia problem mostly . And yeah you can fly one but after using a odysee class .... it's like flying a brick and about as fun. In pve you can probably make any ship work kinda,but it's expensive we'r talking about the real life price of an used car.... And in pvp ,your choise of ships is even more limited ,making a valkis be usable and effective ? My main problem whith STO is i can't play the ship i like and use the bridge officer i want . @bretsgamingchannel4 ай бұрын
@@lariandark Honestly I'd say the very worst ships in the game are within 10-15% of the best ones already, easily. The difference between a Dhailkhina and some other CSV build is the TEAM that supports it. Plus, outside of peak DPS chasing stuff, which is now at the point of essentially exploiting the game (using traits and buffs that stay after de-slotting them etc), the gap is even closer. On topic to this video, all of this would be solved if DPS wasn't the only thing that matters when measuring a ship. I don't have a Valkis, but I do have a Durgath and other large ships. You can stop the power sliding pretty easily by using competitve fortified engines, which grant +100 inertia for 5s every 10s. The secret is to never drop to zero throttle, ever. Drop to 1/4, then to zero if you want to stop. Power slide solved. RCS actually makes the powerslide effect worse, not better. It's still clunky to maneuver, but there's a certain piloting practice/skill involved with different ships and that's part of what differentiates them. If all big ships flew like Oddy's, and all small ships flew like Defiants, the game would be even more boring than it already is. As for the price of a used car thing, I guess it depends on where you live, but where I am I can't get a used car for $500. Granted, that's still an insane amount of money to spend on a video game, so I agree with the sentiment, just not the hyperbole. All of those nitpicks aside though, I agree with your core statements about wanting to fly the ship you want with the crew you want. When I was a kid I played the crap out of Star Trek Starship Creator for that very reason. Cheers

I feel no pity for pvp in this game. 1st 3 years of the game, sure maybe. With the current state of the game and everything adding bonus damage, bonus crit chance, and bonus crit Severity pvp just isn't worth playing. This is just my opinion as i play tank and used to be able to fly my dreadnought in pvp and would have 5 or so escorts hammering on me, not able to do a dent, granted my damage was nothing fantastic as i was a tank. Now, in the current state of pvp, there is so much stacking this and stacking that it makes tanking almost impossible. If you want to fix pvp then in pvp all traits, duty officers, specialists boffs and specializations need to be deactivated and players can run basic boff powers and consoles that boost raw damage, healing/control, or armor drop all crith to 5% and critd too 20% max. This then brings back the holy trinity of tank, heal/support, and glass cannon. Option #2 drop pvp.... Like i said just my opinion on the current state of pvp.
@bretsgamingchannel4 ай бұрын
I understand your opinion, but why remove/strip down pvp and ruin it for the people who are currently enjoying it? It is easy to make a tank that can handle 5 escorts even right now if you know what you are doing - just a lot more buttons to click than those first few years. I've done it - you can see right on this channel in my healer builds. Just "tanking" does nothing to help the team win the match. I'd be completely in support of adding a separate pvp mode that used preset builds only or whatever. However, we've hosted events like that in the past and the end result is that the same people who stick around more than a few minutes are the same people who would rather be playing T6 pvp anyway. But if you just want super stripped down pvp, why play STO at all then? The reason STO pvp is fun is because the build system is so deep and there are so many mechanics to leverage. Take that away and it's just a 15 year old space game with dated graphics and a trek skin over it, so why would I play that instead of Elite Dangerous or SW:Sqadrons, etc all of which look and play better than STO but have simpler mechanics.
@paul_84724 ай бұрын
@bretsgamingchannel while I do see your point, which is why now my builds are definitely more expensive than most players are willing to put into the game. Having a dps/tank is still no match for an escort pushing 500k-1mil dps on a macro'ed alpha strike. I have similar issues with end-game pve dps chasers in advanced tfo's that turns my gaming night into the never-ending map change. At this point, I'll admit that I'm a casual player that averages 150k dps on alt toons and up to 300k on the main 5 toons I run regularly. I'm just trying to get my fleet members there so we can run the battle of Korfes. The sad reality is that most of my fleet members try pvp and get completely annihilated, then quit the game. STO has no tutorials for pvp and very little knowledge give about pve builds. Most players don't realize that they are two completely different beasts. This sadly boils down to pvp and end-game pve, are just glass cannon dps races that most players in the game are not interested in. So the dev's are catering to the main money driving aspect of the game, which is and always has been primarily PVE. Apologies if this reply seemed to bounce around.

@@paul_8472 no problem, I appreciate these kinds of discussions much more from the usual snide “remove PvP” comments because you’re coming at it from a place of experience. However, your argument has a major fallacy. If you are building an escort to do 500k+ DPS, you wouldn’t last a second in PvP. Go check out the match footage I uploaded just yesterday - do you know how much DPS my PvP escort build does? I am lucky to clear 100k in ISE, and against other players it does 4200 dps. That’s 4k, not 420k, not 4.2 million. In the match I just uploaded, the average resist was over 80% - that’s not a single spike, in order to survive PvP players have to sacrifice a lot to keep those resistances up as high as possible. If anything, it’s the absolute exact opposite of a glass cannon dps race. But you are onto the crux of the issue. PvE is about glass cannon dps and it means the very moment you enter a PvP zone or face enemies that actually use abilities like Vaadwaur in Korfez, people get frustrated and give up. The game has taught them indirectly that they can simple vaporize every enemy before they even have time to shoot back. You can’t think like that in PvP or Korfez, but you can in every other area of the game. If PvE had more challenging enemies, or enemies that used abilities or had resistances, maybe the jump to PvP or Elites wouldn’t be so difficult. Think of it this way. When you build your tank for PvE, your looking at a few spikes of healing or resistance, you expect a few million damage in over the course of a 3 minute long TFO and that’s the lens you build from. In PvP, you need to have 80%+ resists at all times, with heals and regen, and potentially need to survive an hour or more in a match. How might your build differ if you need to do that? Can you imagine how much offensive output you’d need to sacrifice to pull that off? So in short, the “my tank stands no chance against a 500k dps escort” argument doesn’t make much sense unless you are simply “jousting” (that’s running two PvE builds together whoever gets first shot off wins, and surely is not “real” PvP). As for catering to their audience, yeah of course casual players are a larger one and worth more money. But as I said in the video, we can have both a balanced game and one that casual players enjoy. It’s not even that hard to pull off, we’ve done it before. But the developers need to have a better understanding of the high end parts of the game (both PvE and PvP) in order to make well informed decisions about balance and what they add to the game, and they have not shown they are capable of that since late last year.

I’m guessing the console version of the game is aimed at a more casual crowd and they didn’t think it was worth having a buff bar or target’s buff bar on the UI. I couldn’t imagine playing the game without it. It’s not a bug, they intentionally left it out.

I'm one of those actually want Trek universe PvP. Arena vehicle battle is flourishing in mobile platform. From futuristic to historic vehicle combat. In modern warship there are similar ambush mechanic like low RCS ship similar to Trek's cloaking ship. But Trek's stealth mechanic allow insta kill. It ruins players experience.
@bretsgamingchannel4 ай бұрын
You only get insta killed by a cloaking ship if you are completely unprepared for pvp. The issue isn't the mechanics (besides the ones I name in this video), it's that players do not bother to configure their ships for PvP - you can't just fly in with a glass cannon like you can in PvE. Even a PvE "tank" build is a glass cannon by PvP standards, you just can't get by with 40-50% resistances, minimal healing, etc you need to *average* ~80% resist at all times, have rapid healing/regen, and also have options for when those fail. See other videos on this channel...

well i am waiting but i somehow really doubt that ill come back. id say immunity is the worst. it makes no sense. how is your ship "immune"? just give it stealth and ships with high detection can still see it or smth. well but then again, immunity is actually one of the things that kept the pvp alive in the time from ~late 22 to early 24 when it was already crumbling but people could see past the crumbling bc they still had a way to play (a decently fun one too, wasnt bad in 22). now the realisation hits tho. get rid of immunity. introduce counterable/resistable holds (BOTH!, not jsut counterable!). i also think that if they completely nerfed disingagement tools (immunity stealth etc) they should tank up ships a bit more across the board but then again maybe its not necessary, hard to tell how tanky ships would be in a perfectly balanced control world... i thought its too late honestly. they should have listend to us 2 years ago. i left late 23 bc i noticed that it was going down and they showed no intention to fix anything. but if its handled by a completely new team, maybe they will listen. maybe, but i still think that s a huge cope. edit: i didnt grab too deep into my pockets when playing pvp. maybe about 40 bucks... but i know a lot of pvpers who spent a shit ton of money and continue doing so. maybe everyone just dont play for a month and see if they listen then after half their income goes away
@bretsgamingchannel4 ай бұрын
I figure I'll try my luck with DECA and hope they listen better than Cryptic did. Jonathan's departure was a big hit because he did actually listen and implemented a few nice changes behind the scenes that solved a lot of problems (pilot revamp for example was a solid step in the right direction, reduced placates and stealth problems). Then he left and everything since then has been absolutely awful. FWIW, I haven't spent anything on this game in over 2 years now. I was telling another friend that I have ~100m million EC and a T6 coupon in my account bank, once I spend those resources, that's the end of the game for me unless something changes. No reason to put money into a game with non challenging PvE and broken PvP. I know people love to say "PvP has always been broken" but that's really not true, there have only been times (like now) where it was.
@scipug30484 ай бұрын
@@bretsgamingchannel this reminds me of smth very important with the game. The PvE is pretty bad. the pve just doesnt do anything most of the time. The game is basically a click and point adv3enture (plus mash spacebar for them buffs ig) with random floating healtbars with a star trek skin on them. idk if i had to play pvp if the pve wasnt dogshit. actually remove the click... you can turn the settings on where you dont need to target something... i think a huge thing is also that pveers also see flaws in pve or arent having fun with it as much as they used to, and then se a smal group of players (pvpers) and think their demands for changes over the years is what made this game the way it is now. its just a cope basically. They keep saying "the game is made for us" bc they kinda hope that if cryptic (or whoever now) focused all their resources on pve it would turn out good. what they fail to realise is that all resources are already flowing towards pve and its shit lol. i think id actually return for a good pve experience too but that wont happen either

@@scipug3048 I love PvP but I also would be a lot more into the game if the PvE didn't suck. There's a reason I'm playing Destiny and other games 99% of the time now. I made a video on here talking about fixing PvE by changing difficulty. Elite enemies would have less HP, fewer ships, but would actually use abilities, you know, like player ships do. Each faction would use different things, have resistances to different weapons/abilities and have different mechanics and builds to fight them. Normal could remain the same mindless spacebar smashing. It would preserve the game for the majority of casual players, while rewarding players who get into Advanced and Elite, and also the jump from Elite to PvP wouldn't be like playing a completely different game. The gradient across all difficulties of the game would be smoother and Elite would actually be a challenge. Build discussions wouldn't revolve exclusively around DPS, it'd be about what is best to fight each faction of enemy. I'd play the crap out of that game.

I’d like to add to this discussion from the perspective of a Star Trek: Armada veteran, exclusively to the Premonition and without respect to the Tunneler and the Distortion Device. The Premonition is saddled with a bit of difficulty because one of its abilities in game was the Temporal Distortion Field, also shared with the Federation’s Super Weapon, the Temporal Research Center. It worked almost exactly like the trait in that it caused an AoE Disable and freeze for enemies (they even exploded after the field was released). The Gemini Device is even borrowed from one of the Nebula’s four special abilities because it had that one noteworthy ability, besides time traveling. Again, this is in isolation, but I hope this perspective helps when considering the options it has, and why it has the ability it does. Addressing this aspect of the Premonition and giving constructive criticism to implement this in a different way I think would help a lot.
@bretsgamingchannel4 ай бұрын
I also played Armada quite a bit, there's nothing wrong with the concept of the trait behaving in a similar way to the same-name ability in Armada. Like I demonstrated in the video, all it needs is to be resisted/cleared by player ships, NPC's remain unaffected. Not a difficult solution and leaves everyone happy.
@digitalnative56784 ай бұрын
@@bretsgamingchannel It's a good solution to PvP, but there is a problem it has with PvE. Because the trait of the Premonition is deemed "not meta" by most there's also a problem in its effectiveness in PvE, and was also an attempt to try and spur a bit of conversation to giving it an effect that would help it have more relevance. Perhaps it's the nostalgia talking but it's just a shame it gets the short end of the stick of not just quality but player perception. But as it stands, this ability if not affecting PvP works for what it is. Just a pity.
@bretsgamingchannel4 ай бұрын
@@digitalnative5678 I have another video where I talk about that a lot actually. The problem is this game has all these mechanics - holds, disables, slows, drains - yet the only thing that matters is damage/DPS. It's because the NPC enemies don't resist anything, barely use abilities, there are no mechanics to a fight. When you see an NPC ship, why hold it, just shoot it and kill it in half a second and you win. The only difference between "Normal" and "Elite" difficulty is that the NPC's have more health, they don't gain any more skills/abilities/mechanics, so it's boring. The way to do it is to leave Normal alone, but change the way difficulty works - instead of inflated HP pools or hundreds of enemy ships, instead have NPC's gain more abilities/resistances/skills, somewhat on Advanced, and in Elite they should have lots of mechanics. Then fighting them would feel more rewarding and interesting, different builds would be effective, and even better, the different NPC factions would feel different to fight. Right now I can't even tell the difference between fighting Kazon, Borg, or Klingons, they all behave the same way and die the same way. Of course, a change like this would surely piss off a lot of the playerbase because the game wouldn't just be about "more dps" and they'd have to actually think in combat. In Nevertwinter, participating in PvP matches awards you a currency called Glory. Save up enough of it and you can buy some unique items, armour designs, things of that nature, that you can't get anywhere else in the game. STO needs that in order to encourage new PvPers. They could even have like a beginners league where you can only use T1 ships (or even shuttles!) and then an intermediate league (tier 4 ships) and an elite league (T6s of course). Imagine ☺
