Had a issue with a filter pump and had some strange die off been in the hobby over 40 years and it somthing never seen before and sure enough one pumps wires came out of seal and no bueno. I cant stop laughing. Thanks. LOL

Felt for normal circumstances, mesh for long duration. I have about 20 felt socks that I roll on my reefer 170. They clog in about 4-5 days. The mesh socks are extremely useful for vacations or long durations, I have 2 of them and always reserve them for when I go away. They last for weeks without clogging but your tank water won’t be as polished

Ya they go kind of nuts with these size tanks they want you to get for tangs. I wouldn't suggest a yellow tang sized fish though for anything under 65 gallons they do get kind of big. I've breed and kept lots of Discus, Angelfish, and others fish around that size and a 20g just doesn't give them enough maneuvering room with their larger body sizes. If any of you want a tang for a smaller 29g-55g tank (please stay 29g+) I'd suggest a bristle tooth tang of some kind. They only grow about 4 inches maximum and would be fine maneuvering in a 29g+.

Great! My figure 8 does well in a community... Because the larger dither fish keep his aggression in check. 🙏👍👍🍀 He is with a large female swordtail and many mosquitofish. And, the little pleco is now 8 inches in the same 55 gallon. Keeps things clean with large Tetra hang on back filter.

If you have enough macroalges you don't need a filter or skimmer. You essentially have something you shouldn't change.

Instead of a clamp, an easier technique is to use a hair dryer. It still takes some effort but it does work out in the end

One time i got the shock of my life from my tank....turned out to be the heater. All the fish and corals were fine but not me. I trialed an errored the hard way...luckily i figured the heater was the culprit quickly (3 shocks later) 😅
